Texas Republican Wants Vote Seceding From U.S.

Posted by | November 25, 2015 11:35 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

An executive committee member of the Texas Republican Party wants a vote on whether the state should leave the union.

…Tanya Robertson “already has support from a few other members” for her resolution, noting that she “got the idea for the resolution from the Texas Nationalist Movement.”

…The Texas Nationalist Movement, a far-right anti-government group, is hoping to include a resolution on the March primary ballot reading: “The State of Texas should reassert its status as an independent nation. FOR or AGAINST.”

    Let them secede. Then invade.

    • rg9rts November 27th, 2015 at 04:38

Why?? build a wall around it

  2. duke_of_omnium November 27th, 2015 at 18:00

Please secede! The NFL would finally have an excuse to kick Jerry Jones and the Cowboys out of the league.

    • grannygrey50 November 28th, 2015 at 08:56

My husband was a Cowboys’ fan UNTIL Jerry Jones came in.

  3. Elliot J. Stamler November 27th, 2015 at 18:28

Pertaining to Texas secession, may I quote, of all people, OLIVER CROMWELL: “In the name of God, go!!!” (Uttered to the Long Parliament upon his dissolution of them).

    • maggie November 29th, 2015 at 23:03

      now this I agree with

  4. Merlin November 27th, 2015 at 19:22

I actually believe there would be a mass exodus from Texas in that event.

    • cecilia November 27th, 2015 at 20:24

and hopefully a mass flooding into texas of all the losers from the other States

    • 6660splendidday November 27th, 2015 at 23:30

Yes. I live in Texas. I have lived in Texas for sixty years – most of my adult life, but I can tell you, this is not the state it used to be. We have had, during all this time, Republicans running this state and Democrats running this state, but the last twenty years there are idiots running this state. It is an embarrassment. There is also the feeling that this is not going to change. The crazies have dug in and done so much harm that even if we got rid of them it will take a lifetime to fix so many problems.
The thing that is most astonishing is that there is this alarming case of religiosity in Texas and the rest of the South….the more religious they are the more corrupt and stupid they seem to get. It’s like some kind of a disease.

      • Progressive Republican November 28th, 2015 at 00:53

        How sad.

      • Merlin November 28th, 2015 at 01:01

I commiserate. I remember having a buddy after the war named Tom, he left Memphis and went for a job at Love Field. He was a jet mechanic in Thailand. I went out there to see him several times, He had married the gangs party gal and she gave him some trouble. But it seemed nice, like any other place.

      • grannygrey50 November 28th, 2015 at 09:00

I lived there in 59 and taught in the Valley. Went back north to finish college and wound up back down there Labor Day of 80. Taught in San Antonio and then near Houston, remarried , and my native Texan husband and I wound up in the Pigeon Forge, TN area for about 10 years…Now we are in Floriduh…and they are almost as crazy here. I can remember when there was sanity there, too.. And, we wound up turning down teaching jobs up in East Texas because of the religiosity that was increasing rapidly…and we both would have been in trouble, especially when our Muslim nephews or Vietnamese Buddhist grand children came to visit.

I am sending this message to you especially because I really want you to see it. I want everyone to read this message, of course, but I know you will be able to connect the dots and you will take the time to do just that. I was fortunate that this appeared in the Houston Chronicle this week so I could forward it to you without my having to do so much typing and maybe messing it up. There are many news items like this but who can keep them all.. (?)… named in this article is “North Dallas Area” – All around Dallas in every direction is a area of Texas that is on what is called one of the largest hate areas in the United States. Next to the “Dallas Area” is the West Texas around Lubbock, that the Feds should be watching closely. More guns, more hate, more discrimination, more hate of anything Federal. this includes the public schools. These are the citizens who have been shaping the Republican Party for the last thirty or so years..I am saying this not because I support Republicans in any way, it is deplorable that what I call the ordinary “decent Republican,” is too cowardly to claim his/her Party back. As long as they get the votes to stay on power they don’t give a damn about what is happening to their country.

  5. DetroitSam November 27th, 2015 at 19:53

Wish they would vote to leave the US. We’ll see what happens when they lose NASA, the military bases, federal institutions, and on and on. God, these are some stupid people.

    • NIGHTWATCH ABCP ........ November 28th, 2015 at 08:21

They keep talking and talking BUT when the FLOOD WATERS came, it was FELITO CRUZ that asked for FEDERAL assistance from PRESIDENT Obama !!!! FUNNY THAT …………….

        • NIGHTWATCH ABCP ........ November 29th, 2015 at 04:58

The OTHER senator from Texas, to wit, JOHN CORNYN ALSO voted AGAINST relief funding for Sandy Hook as did FELITO !! It would seem that when DISASTERS strike in OTHER states, it’s an ‘inconvenience’ to THAT state’s population but when its THEIR state, WELL, funny that AGAIN ………..

  7. Bruce Ragsdale Horton November 28th, 2015 at 12:13

Have these idiots considered what will happen when the Interstates are closed down at the Borders and all flights coming from the other States are also shutdown? how long before Texas would starve?

  12. OrdinaryNeutronAlley November 29th, 2015 at 02:12

I’ve been advocating for this for over a year now. The best thing that could happen in the USA is if AL, AZ, TX, GA & SC all voted to secede from USA. Then ALL of the military pensions in those states would VANISH from Federal payments, YIPPEE ! !

They would not tax themselves, driving themselves back into the stone age. Then we could rename those areas RED States dinosaur AREAS…..

    • whatthe46 November 29th, 2015 at 02:18

but, why did you leave out mississipissy?

      • OrdinaryNeutronAlley November 29th, 2015 at 02:23

They don’t know the difference between a Republic and a state. They’ve been on FEDERAL money assistance so long, they might just be smart enough to know a good thing when they have it. The population isn’t that large either.

        • whatthe46 November 29th, 2015 at 02:36

maybe not as large, but, still stupid.

        • The Original Just Me November 29th, 2015 at 13:39

A better solution would be to renegotiate the Civil War Treaty. Two separate nations are starting to look appealing.

    • tracey marie November 29th, 2015 at 18:02

actually know they would not, the military would be reassigned.

      • OrdinaryNeutronAlley November 29th, 2015 at 21:02

          • OrdinaryNeutronAlley November 29th, 2015 at 22:38

Your comment makes absolutely NO rational sense HONEY. If Texas secedes, then they are NOT part of the USA any longer, right?

So if they are not part of the Federal government, the citizens of Texas no longer receive ANY Federal dollars for anything.

Can you understand English sentences BABE? GET LOST you FOOL TEA Party wench. My God you people are as dumb as dirt.

Other than that, what’s racist. That is a factual statement about a group of people that are so homogeneous, they are cookie cutter Troglodytes and evidently you’re one of them.

The federal government would still be obligated to pay those pensions to veterans, ignorant one.

      • OrdinaryNeutronAlley November 30th, 2015 at 09:25

WRONG old MAN….When you leave your citizenship at the door, then you’re no longer a citizen , are you? SO if you renounce citizenship, then NO benefits are forthcoming.

              A) Texas can’t secede. That’s unconstitutional and is uncompensated as ‘rebellion’-14th A.
              B) Texas could never afford to repay their 10% population based U.S. National debt share $1.2 T net of $12 T, Gross $18 T.
              C) You’l never be nice, or learn not to Troll, so I’ll ban you now. GTFO! “MORON…GET LOST CRETIN ASSHOLE! ! ! ! ! !”

ROFLMAO! Still proving that you prefer only to make profane and obscene personal attacks at all times in every post rather than conducting an adult discussion. Glad to know that your self-admitted IQ of 27 is still in effect!

Half of the Texas economy is military bases, salaries and veterans pensions? Gee. Fort Bliss (mostly in New Mexico), Fort Sam Houston, and Fort Hood are the only US Army installations in Texas. Goodfellow AFB, Laughlin AFB and Shepherd AFB, as well as Dyess Air Force Base, Reese Air Force Base are still open. And I believe the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station, Grand Prairie Armed Forces Reserve Complex (Former Dallas NAS) and the Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base are still reserve training facilities. Other than those bases, Texas does not have many federal military bases any more. The military pensions portion of texas’ economy is a drop in the bucket compared to oil, cattle, and other agricultural endeavors not to mention banking and electronics manufacturing all over the state.

Texas has sent far more federal taxes to the government in Washington DC than it has ever received from washington in program spending.
