Lindsey Graham Has Officially Lost His Mind

Once again, Mr. Deference to Republicans with a side of hardline questions to Democrats, David Gregory, has engineered another episode of Meet The Press that could double as a commercial for the RNC.  After an interview with Secretary of State Kerry, where facts were given regarding Gaza, MH 17 and the Border Crisis, a smirking Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) appeared on the screen.

The most lopsided interview to date

I recorded it and the transcript below is directly from the interview. In regards to Kerry’s comments, Graham said:

“That was the most delusional summary that I can imagine.  It scares me that he (Secretary Kerry) believes that the world is in such good shape.  America is the glue that holds the free world together.  Leading from behind is not working, the world is adrift, and President Obama has become the King of Indecision. His policies are failing across the globe and it will come here soon.”

Gregory asked what Kerry left out, saying, “What is the administration not yet prepared to do that you think must be done?” (Since Graham deserves the final say on the matter, as his foreign policy ideas have been the model of peace and prosperity for the U.S.)

“What he didn’t call Putin the THUG that he is.  He didn’t call for the arming of the Ukraine so they can defend themselves against local separatists supported by Russia.  All the enemies of our nation are being well supplied, Russia and Iran are helping Syria, a 160,000 have been slaughtered, John Kerry, by Russian-supplied weapons to Assad. Syria has become a safe-haven for terrorists to attack our nation.” (from Syria?) He then commented on how the Europeans weren’t going to lead on the issue of laying heavy sanctions on Putin and we can’t keep “leading from behind. There’s a battle of wills between the KGB colonel and the “Community Organizer” (aka black guy) and the colonel is winning. “

Next Graham went into harsh criticism mode on the “deliberative” nature of the president.

He said, “it comes off as indecisive, he’s trying to be thoughtful, it comes off as weakness.”  He then supported aggressive US-European sanctions on Russia, especially in the banking sector and he finished up his rant on how we should rebuild the missile defense systems “that Obama took down.”

The final comment was regarding the border crisis. Gregory asked if his party was prepared to move with the President on this. He predictably said, “there will be NO MONEY….we have to streamline and quicken deportations, there will be no immigration reform because of the crisis on the border, I blame Obama for this moment.”(my bold)

He then stated the 2015 “Republican Congress” with the House leading (of course) will need to solve this immigration crisis or they won’t win the White House in 2016. However, they are not prepared in any way to cooperate with anyone to change anything.

I jokingly predicted this earlier this week on Twitter:

The South Carolinian best bud of Senator McCain, in a very short time, blamed Obama for the border crisis, the crisis in Palestine and the Ukrainian mess.  Naturally, David Gregory had absolutely no challenges to any of those assertions and, in fact, followed up the interview with a largely Republican panel who parrotted Graham’s delusional ravings.

Gregory should be relieved of his duties as host of Meet the Press. Maybe he can be the “Next Contestant for Faux Pas News”?

    • craig7120 July 20th, 2014 at 14:57

You ain’t kidding, the guy is a joke. The whole segment of bringing in somebody whos agenda is to undermine the united states and its president is something fit for North Korea state propaganda campaign.
As if the gop has legitimate solutions, thinking that calling Mr Putin a thug as a remedy to the killing of innocent passengers is a joke.

It’s especially funny (and not really “ha ha”) since it was just a few days ago that the GOPTP couldn’t get enough of Vlad with his shirt off and looking like a thug…

Andrea Mitchell was almost as bad as Lindsy Graham… David Gregory and his panel sucked

      • CharlieMA July 20th, 2014 at 18:24

Yes.. I agree.. watching her on MSNBC during the week .. I find myself wanting to throw something at the screen..

        • raincheck1956 July 21st, 2014 at 07:24

MSNBC needs to do some house cleaning… I wouldn’t mind if they got rid of “Chucktodd”

          • CharlieMA July 21st, 2014 at 09:34

Chuck Todd would be okay if he developed a spine..We have to remember that these people also have staff behind them and the people that put these shows on have certain directives that they instruct the host on/order them to follow. It isn’t all the host’s fault for the way they react to things.. The ironic thing about it is that the other side says from time to time “Liberal Media”, I am still searching for it. There was one before Al Jeezera bought Al Gore’s station, with Jennifer Granholm and others on it.. These host need to develop a backbone.. like Rachel Maddow has when she host her show.. she is a tiger..and she rarely lets go of the noose around their necks.

    • M D Reese July 20th, 2014 at 16:33

I’d like to see someone like Alex Wagner–anyone who will show some spine and commit a little journalism. I don’t even watch the Sunday shows anymore.

      • CharlieMA July 20th, 2014 at 18:22

I stopped watching also, they are all a joke…I find I turn the tv on around 9 pm.. I would be cool with Alex Wagner however, what if it isn’t the host and it turns out to be the boss that controls that show.. and she starts doing the same thing? A way of telling if it is the producers…or the boss man… Let Rachel Maddow host it for a few weeks… We would know then whether it is the host or the people that produce the show. Rachel Maddow would not back down to the challenge and she does her homework.. it seems Gregory is too busy doing other things to actually prepare, and just grabs whatever his staff does and relies upon that to do his questioning…it is like he does nothing on his part to use to fight fire with fire.

You may be on to something–perhaps they should rotate the hosts. Keep it fresh.

          • CharlieMA September 3rd, 2014 at 09:30

Yeah.. they should rotate it alright..

I like that Betty Bowers lady. She’s very religious, so I doubt any GOP would get away with lying out both sides of their mouth at the same breath; plus, (speaking for myself) I’d be very calm and relaxed after the interview – several times most likely. Sweet religious ladies like her seem to have that effect on me. Reminds me of a friends mom who was one of my High School teachers.

        • M D Reese July 21st, 2014 at 23:03

I like Betty Bowers too. And I’ll bet she’d give the squawking heads an interview they’ll never forget.

Yes.. a bad joke… Meet the Press has become an extension of Faux Pas News.. “liberal media” , it is anything but liberal. We did have one when Al Gore owned a station until he sold it to Al Jeezera.. Jennifer Granholm had a show on it,.. hell.. Maybe she would be a great host for Meet the Press.. she certainly pressed her guest on the show. The GOP isn’t the GOP from the early 80’s and before.. it is a radical extension of what use to be the GOP… and they do get along with Putin.

Spend tens if not hundreds of billions of dollars to enable war in a country thousands of miles away.

Bu spending a fraction of that amount to extend unemployment benefits for Americans in need right here at home is too expensive.

That is the right wing mindset.

    • granpa.usthai July 21st, 2014 at 00:30

makes about as much sense as Cruz wanting to prevent the POTUS from issuing EO’s until he starts wearing a WHITE skin to work.

eg: best way to keep the children from escape being abused, tortured and killed by the drug dealers by making the dangerous and difficult journey to a land that offers real sanctuary and safety is to leave them there and turn their dream into a real living never ending nightmare. (GOPs are becoming quite experienced at that in foreign affairs).

The right wing is known for acting quickly, decisively, and being dead wrong more often and faster than you can say Mesopotamia.

Not sure about the ‘decisively’ part. More ‘knee jerk’ and emotional.

maybe what makes them so preemptive when granting unlimited powers to a WHITE POTUS ?

    • dan9el July 21st, 2014 at 00:27

The great majority of the GOP population are sold-out republicans (RINO’s, if you will) with similar goals as the liberal(libertines)-democrats(DNC) – greed, and selfish interests.
      Opinions welcome.

And it’s no wonder why reasonable people have turned off MTP long ago. Graham, as is McCain, are regular fixtures on this show, a show that obviously has as much freshness to what’s going on in the world, as the mummified remains of a Woolly Mammoth.

And history is inconvenient to him as well as we all saw how “going it alone” worked out swimmingly by invading Iraq, sans nearly all of our NATO and European allies. Now, he wants to do the same thing since he’s pissed that those nations don’t do as they’re told by the wingers.

And to think he mentions Obama’s purported weakness on Syria and Assad, the only guy keeping the ISIS freaks from taking over that country while using Russian arms. The only thing the GOP loves that comes out of Russia, is the same hate filled social conservatism they both share, while wanting to prop groups fighting Assad that have the same consistency as the group that took over parts of Syria and Iraq.
