Cruz OUT

The Texas Senator has suspended his presidential campaign…

… according to a Cruz campaign source, clearing the path for the real estate mogul to clinch the GOP nomination.

It was a remarkable turn of events in a presidential primary race that seemed destined — just weeks ago — to end in a contested convention this summer. Even in the final hours of the race in the Hoosier State, Cruz insisted he was staying in the race until June 7 — going so far as to attack his rival during a news conference as a “pathological liar” unfit for the White House.

In the end, the growing strength of Drumpf’s candidacy and Cruz’s own stumbles in the past two weeks were too much for Cruz to overcome. The Cruz, Kasich and anti-Drumpf forces had concocted elaborate plans to try to deprive Drumpf of the 1,237 delegates he needs to win the nomination outright. But those plans hinged on money and momentum. After Tuesday night, it appeared that Cruz would have neither.

Cruz, a tea party favorite, had hoped to cobble together a winning coalition by consolidating the evangelical and libertarian wings of the Republican Party while also racking up commanding wins in the South. He was ultimately unable to achieve any of those things. Exit polls on Tuesday night showed that Indiana’s evangelical voters split their votes evenly between Drumpf and Cruz. The Texas senator had the edge among late deciders, who made up a quarter of voters, but it wasn’t enough.

His withdrawal leaves Donald Drumpf an almost sure path to winning the Republican presidential nomination – and fracturing the party possibly beyond repair!

Cruz (rhymes with ‘does’) just didn’t have the chops to win. Oh sure, he had plenty of dumbass on the hustings*, but wasn’t even able to place in the top 5 of the Right Wing Dunce Contest.
Speaking of which, let’s go to the Right Wing Dunce Contest leaderboard for an update!

    1) Donald Trunt
    2)
    3) Michele Bachmann
    4) Mitt Romney
    5) Nyewt Gingrich

    6) greasy-haired Rand Paul
    7) Ted Cruz
    8) Steven King
    9) Ben Carson
    10) Rick Santorum

    11) Sarah Palin
    12) Peter King
    13) Rooty Giuliani
    14) Herm Cain
    15) Christine O’ Donnell

    16) Scott Walker
    17) Louis Gohmert
    18) Paul Ryan
    19) Mike Huckabee
    20) Joe (not the musician) Walsh

    * hustings – always a gas to drop ‘hustings’

      >> Cruz just didn’t have the chops to win

I can’t fault him for not trying hard enough.

Cruz lost because he is loathsome.

He played the hell out of the conservative Evangelical card and even they didn’t buy it. And those guys are total suckers.

        You don’t get it.
This is understandable because you are new here and a little slow on the uptake anyway.
For your benefit and that of other newer users, I shall explain.

I and my panel of undistinguished and somewhat intoxicated judges created the Right Wing Dunce Contest on this site back in 2007.
The premise is in order to secure the GOP presidential nomination, candidates have to be the biggest dunces in the field.
Every time they say something especially stupid, they go up on the RWDC leaderboard.
Most of the time the judges will move the prospective candidate up one place, but occasionally someone will come up with something spectacularly stupid and the judges will choose to advance that person further up the list.
The Right Wing Dunce Contest has never been wrong. The RWDC accurately predicted the GOP nominee in 2007 and 2012 and appears headed for a third straight accurate prediction.
