Cruz OUT

The Texas Senator has suspended his presidential campaign…

… according to a Cruz campaign source, clearing the path for the real estate mogul to clinch the GOP nomination.

It was a remarkable turn of events in a presidential primary race that seemed destined — just weeks ago — to end in a contested convention this summer. Even in the final hours of the race in the Hoosier State, Cruz insisted he was staying in the race until June 7 — going so far as to attack his rival during a news conference as a “pathological liar” unfit for the White House.

In the end, the growing strength of Drumpf’s candidacy and Cruz’s own stumbles in the past two weeks were too much for Cruz to overcome. The Cruz, Kasich and anti-Drumpf forces had concocted elaborate plans to try to deprive Drumpf of the 1,237 delegates he needs to win the nomination outright. But those plans hinged on money and momentum. After Tuesday night, it appeared that Cruz would have neither.

Cruz, a tea party favorite, had hoped to cobble together a winning coalition by consolidating the evangelical and libertarian wings of the Republican Party while also racking up commanding wins in the South. He was ultimately unable to achieve any of those things. Exit polls on Tuesday night showed that Indiana’s evangelical voters split their votes evenly between Drumpf and Cruz. The Texas senator had the edge among late deciders, who made up a quarter of voters, but it wasn’t enough.

His withdrawal leaves Donald Drumpf an almost sure path to winning the Republican presidential nomination – and fracturing the party possibly beyond repair!

Republicans are so angry they are going to nominate an authoritarian Democrat as their Republican nominee for president.

The only choice left is the Libertarian Party..

  6. labman57 May 3rd, 2016 at 21:09

Starving Republican voters have had to choose between gorging themselves on a large bowl of vomit or an equal-sized bowl of phlegm … or being satisfied with a small morsel of stale white bread named Kasich.

I hope the suspension of the illegitimate CANADIAN BORN candidate is permanent as he could never serve as a legal POTUS under the current constitution. If the Republican Congress wants to allow Arnold, Kim or others to throw their hat into the ring LEGALLY then they need to change the constitution through the ratification process as per the written constitution. In the meantime, anyone has the right to keep and bear NUCLEAR Arms per the written 2nd amendment. anyone is allowed to believe whatever they want without being targeted by any government so long as it is in the content of their religious belief. baby don don can con others to accuse Rafael B. if he so desires. Rafael E. (who will not use his real name can continue to LIE about his affairs if he so chooses) – and the beat goes on.

Democrats BEWARE a possible Romney/Haley surprise at the GOP Convention.

with the way things are shaping up – it’s a real possibility.

  14. Guy Lauten May 3rd, 2016 at 22:31

I see a wonderful day in The Cruz’s near future:
He now needs to get back to the Senate and his chair & office there. That should go REAL well, don’t you think? He and Mike Lee can have a confab in the corner and… that’s about it. You know The Turtle ain’t going to let him accomplish anything. A Democratic-led Senate might be the best thing for ol’ Teddy, … but I doubt it.

we’ll never get the stains out of the davenport.

Davenport? For a moment I thought my dad had come back to life.

        • fredoandme May 4th, 2016 at 20:50

that’s what my grandma had, a davenport. impossibly complex handmade doilies covered the back and the arms; feet were NOT allowed. no food or drinks under any circumstances.

          • Jack E Raynbeau May 4th, 2016 at 22:00

My dad referred to any couch as a davenport. Turns out it was a brand name and became the word for a couch. My grandmother always referred to the refrigerator as the Frigidaire regardless of the brand.

            Nice doily.

            • fredoandme May 4th, 2016 at 22:34

same with grandma. she was a lacemaker and seamstress who manufactured outrageously beautiful bed linens for wealthy homes. that doily in the picture is not hers, but is representational of what she could do. most of her stuff was for customers, though i did manage to hold on to a few things. perhaps i should get them out and photograph them. one day when i don’t have anything else to do. she did it all by hand, tatting and tiny crochet work, and a treadle singer sewing machine. i can still hear the sounds of her working that machine, her petite hands, smooth from decades of fabric work.

              sniff……

    Hallelujah!
    Hallelujah!
    Hallelujah!
    Lying Ted Cruzified finally!
It’s now or later anyway that he will be disqualified not just for being not a natural born American but also for being a natural born mongrel.
So, now, how about the funny haired Tramp?
I heard someone suggested Rmoney Retread in the contested convention….??? nothing will save the GOP!

  18. Glen May 3rd, 2016 at 23:29

Ultimately, Cruz killed his own campaign. Not with any of his inane speeches, etc. But with the dimwitted announcement of a deal with Kasich to prevent Trump from getting the nomination. The deal itself was smart and the right thing to do… announcing it publicly was the most unintelligent thing I’ve seen in the whole race to the white house – and that’s saying something.

What he basically did by announcing it publicly was go “we know Trump will win when the fight is fair, so we’re going to work together to take him down, even if he is the most popular candidate”. And people don’t like the idea of people manipulating the system to stop a popular candidate from winning. I have no doubt that Trump’s support went up because of the announcement.

So yeah, Cruz is to blame for Cruz having to drop out.

Incidentally, the same doesn’t apply to Kasich. Because he was the third-place candidate, his deal with Cruz looks more like him trying to allow himself to focus on the states where he’s strongest. He was written off by most people, so they weren’t annoyed with him over it.

And that’s why the remaining GOP primaries are going to be interesting to watch. Cruz out means that most of those voters that would have gone with Cruz are going to choose between Trump and Kasich (yes, some will still vote Cruz, or will refuse to vote at all). And I suspect that most people who were supporting Cruz will choose Kasich over Trump.

Kasich could actually win the remaining contests, if he’s lucky, as he becomes the only not-Trump candidate. There are 9 remaining contests – if Kasich wins 7 of them, he surpasses the “8 wins” requirement at the Republican convention. And if he manages to be a viable candidate at the convention (if Trump doesn’t get enough to win on pledged delegates, and Kasich manages to get enough wins to satisfy the restrictions), he’ll end up winning.

Kasich’s job now is to make sure he’s seen as the alternative to Trump, and that he’s seen as viable. If he can do that, he could be the Republican nominee. It’s a long-shot for him, but it’s doable.

    • Mensa Member May 3rd, 2016 at 23:32

Cruz’s main problem was Ted Cruz.

He gives almost everybody the creeps.

      • Glen May 3rd, 2016 at 23:40

True, but despite that, he was still a “viable” candidate (mostly because Trump scares a lot of people, too). It wasn’t until the “deal” was announced that Cruz’s campaign truly died. A candidate that runs on morality (we won’t get into whether his positions were actually moral – I’m referring to his own characterisation of his positions) shouldn’t be seen to be doing backroom deals to defeat a popular candidate.

Note that I’m glad he’s out. It’ll strengthen Kasich, which can only be to the benefit of your country. Kasich is the only chance America has of the election campaign being a positive and uplifting one. If Trump gets the nomination, it’s going to be dirty, it’s going to do a lot of harm to America (Trump is already doing a lot of harm just by being a candidate for the nomination – imagine what happens if he’s the nominee).

        • Mensa Member May 3rd, 2016 at 23:45

I don’t think I understand where you are coming from.

But, I agree. His deal with Kasich was a joke that hurt him.

I gather that this is because Cruz can’t cooperate with anyone. Cruz is all about Cruz.

It’s no wonder his co-workers think he is Lucifer.

    • jybarz May 3rd, 2016 at 23:55

If Kasich wins, Hillary will be struggling compared to an easy win for Sanders in the GE… that’s what polls say. It won’t be super for the Democratic Party if the super delegates don’t change their minds at the convention.

  19. William May 3rd, 2016 at 23:41

    Cya.
