Foster children removed from home of Oregon militia militant

Of course, he blames the feds for him being an absentee father breaking the law while his children were left behind.

Oregon militia spokesman Robert “LaVoy” Finicum told OPB that the four foster children who had been living with him and his wife on their Chino Valley, Arizona, ranch have been taken away. “I hope people are seeing the sacrifices we’re making here,” he said.

The rancher estimated that more than 50 boys, often caming from group homes, drug rehabs, and psychiatric institutions, have lived with them in the past decade. “My ranch has been a great tool for these boys,” Finicum said. “It has done a lot of good.”

This was a business for Finicum, as OPB reports:

That represents an enormous loss of income for the Finicums. According to a 2010 tax filing, Catholic Charities paid the family $115,343 to foster children in 2009. That year, foster parents were compensated between $22.31 and $37.49 per child, per day, meaning if the Finicums were paid at the maximum rate, they cared for, on average, eight children per day in 2009.

“That was my main source of income,” Finicum said. “My ranch, well, the cows just cover the costs of the ranch. If this means rice and beans for the next few years, so be it. We’re going to stay the course.”

He said that was his main source of income, so he didn’t do it out of the kindness of his heart? and he also had them work on the ranch, free labor.. And he seemed like he was one of the better ones.. :-(

He sounds like a holdover from the 19th/early 20th century, when people “took in orphans” for the purpose of having unpaid domestic servants. The taking-in was more a foster situation than an adoption, so the ‘foster parent’ could wear a child out, send him/her back to the orphanage or workhouse and get a replacement.

Another true american…..fosters children for the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$….what a genuine POS ….then blames others for his stupidity ….

  3. rg9rts January 17th, 2016 at 23:03

I wouldn’t let him foster rattlesnakes much less have ANYTHING to do with children

  4. William January 17th, 2016 at 23:14

Isn’t that the Goober who admitted to the entire world he was “slow”?
    “struggled”=
He couldn’t tell you what color crayons he was eating.

    • whatthe46 January 18th, 2016 at 00:27

red. red. it’s the red crayons that did it. and his momma/sister, brother/daddy ate it too.

He should just go out back and talk to Tarpman, he’ll know what to do.

    • CityZen January 18th, 2016 at 10:29

He is tarpman, and he probably talks to himself all of the time.

  6. Foundryman January 17th, 2016 at 23:45

I find it troubling that all the assets of these terrorists haven’t been frozen and their properties locked down. It’s like the authorities are doing nothing to end this.

    • mistlesuede January 18th, 2016 at 00:16

Well at least their income, I mean foster kids, are going to be protected.
I’m trying to find a positive here on a story that really gets my goat.

    • whatthe46 January 18th, 2016 at 00:26

right “non” skin color if you will.

  7. fahvel January 18th, 2016 at 03:23

no child should be allowed with kilometers of this scum.

  8. JoseM4 January 18th, 2016 at 05:44

Why were the kids removed? Was his wife not properly caring for the foster kids while he was away?

Foster parents everywhere who are single mothers or who participate in protests should be concerned.

    • Timothy Madsen Sr. January 18th, 2016 at 08:12

Because he is involved in a criminal act.

    • whatthe46 January 18th, 2016 at 13:11

the criminal act and the fact that these children are nothing more than laborers.

    • Darren January 18th, 2016 at 13:38

      This isin’t a protest.

    • bpollen January 19th, 2016 at 01:13

He doesn’t qualify according to his state’s rules. He has to have an income of his own because EVERY SINGLE DIME he gets is supposed to be used on the children, not on supporting him, his wife, or his farm. My state required it of me to be a foster parent. And I didn’t take over even ONE gubmint building! Then there is the fact that foster-daddy is part of an ongoing criminal conspiracy. Criminals are not usually considered to be good choices for providing a healthy home environment for these children. Hell, any children.

People who are committing criminal acts and subsisting solely on the income received for the children in their custody should be concerned. Armed takeovers of gubmint property, destruction of gubmint property, desecration of archaeological sites, threatening fragile eco-systems, while claiming to want to be martyrs is not, in any sense, protest. This is direct action. This is criminal action. This is anti-Constitutional action (the supremacy of federal decisions on federal land use are IN the Constitution.)

  9. CityZen January 18th, 2016 at 06:13

I’m waiting for one or more of the foster children to come forth about abuse of a sexual nature. Finicum just seems like the kind of protesting christian that would be hiding something dark.

Another rightwing nut job railing against the government while suckling on the government teat.

    • whatthe46 January 18th, 2016 at 13:12

what do you want to bet that all of the boys are at least in their teens. can’t get a two year old to work in the fields.

  11. Adventure49 January 18th, 2016 at 08:38

This is a man that told the FBI he would take death over jail.

  12. CityZen January 18th, 2016 at 10:41

Foster children. wonder how many were Black or Mexican?

  13. Leonard Hester January 18th, 2016 at 10:58

He is not interested in helping children, he was using them for income opportunities.

    • LexRex Mann January 18th, 2016 at 12:12

Where is your proof of that?

      • Leonard Hester January 18th, 2016 at 13:05

In the “article” “That was my main source of income”, Finicum said”. “My ranch, well the cows just cover the cost of the ranch” Reading comprehension skills are a “Good thing”.

        • whatthe46 January 18th, 2016 at 13:08

just read the title and ignored the article. happens a lot.

      • whatthe46 January 18th, 2016 at 13:08

the proof is it came straight from the horses mouth. in this case, the asses mouth. are you a fan?

      • bpollen January 19th, 2016 at 00:59

Had you actually read the article, you could have answered your own silly question and not come off looking NEARLY as bad.

      • cwazycajun January 28th, 2016 at 13:54

        his own words!!!

  14. Merlin January 18th, 2016 at 12:21

Grifter, taker and moocher, it looks like they all are getting something for very little effort and their “Stay the Course” actions are poorly designed to get them more. I’d rather they eat snow than rice and beans.

  15. Lizard January 18th, 2016 at 15:02

Ranchers raising cattle are losing their asses in that failed business model. Instead of quitting they expect the American taxpayer to subsidize them with free grazing land. Feck them.

  16. Candide Thirtythree January 18th, 2016 at 14:50

Michele Bachman did the same thing!

    • StoneyCurtisll January 18th, 2016 at 16:39

      And still doing it~!

  17. Kathy Levittown January 18th, 2016 at 16:33

If that’s his source of income mostly? Then he is a “taker”…Really disgusting..they talk about “welfare queens”? THEY are the BIGGEST..

  18. StoneyCurtisll January 18th, 2016 at 16:34

Free child labor with the federal government/tax payer/through catholic charities footing the bill…
    Fuggin grifters.

  19. StoneyCurtisll January 18th, 2016 at 16:40

And child labor paid for you, the tax payer…

  20. whatthe46 January 19th, 2016 at 02:43
