Pope Francis Met Secretly With Kim Davis

Posted by | September 29, 2015 20:50 | Filed under: Politics Religion

Now that we know Pope Francis met with and gave aid and comfort to anti-gay Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, the right may start liking her again.

Pope Francis met secretly with Rowan County, Kentucky, clerk Kim Davis during his visit to the United States, according to her attorneys and Inside the Vatican magazine.

Davis was jailed after refusing to follow a federal court order to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. She had refused to issue any licenses after the U.S. Supreme Court legalized gay marriage, citing her religious beliefs.

The meeting occurred on September 24. Her husband, Joe, was also at the meeting, the Liberty Council said.

The meeting took place at the Vatican Embassy in Washington, D.C.

I wonder if her husband wore his good sunday go a meetin’ straw hat?

  2. labman57 September 30th, 2015 at 09:34

Yeah, Kim Davis had a secret rendezvous with the Pope … and millions of Peruvians gathered and prayed for her — NOT.
Bottom line: her defense team’s credibility is in the crapper these days.

I’m not sure I can buy into a ‘secret’ meeting. I wouldn’t doubt that the Pope would meet with her but secretly doesn’t seem like his style.

Disappointing if true. I’m glad he gets climate change and the fact that capitalism is working great for the 1%r’s .

  5. Robert Smithson September 30th, 2015 at 10:40

He also visited the Little Sisters of the Poor, you know that group that Obama has hammered mercilessly for their stand against government health mandates.

    • The Original Just Me September 30th, 2015 at 10:55

You are a Really Filthy Piece of Garbage. Pres. Obama has NEVER said anything Negative against this Order. He, nor any of his staff have ever said anything to Hammer them. You are just a lying sack of Dog Sh**. They are the ones who have challenged the Law of the Land. You are just a NAZI Bastard with your lying NAZI Propaganda . I challenge you to come up with even ONE HONEST word spoken my OUR PRESIDENT that is negative towards this order.

      • Robert Smithson September 30th, 2015 at 11:51

Please! The Obama Administration has been intent on forcing them to participate in something that goes against their conscience, refusing to give them any kind of waiver. He cares not a wit about these ladies who are serving God and his intent is to force them to do what he wants them to do. The only recourse they had was to sue the Federal government. This is just another example of the war on Christians in this country.

        • MBJR September 30th, 2015 at 15:24

Ill play along with your persecution game. I’ve never known a fundamentalist who doesn’t like a good war. So enjoy.

we are secular, the law forces her to compl or leave, period.

        • DetroitSam September 30th, 2015 at 16:19

Robert Smithson, you are not very smart, are you?

        • SecludedCompound October 2nd, 2015 at 13:05

Christians have to abide by the law. Not getting a free pass because they live in a dreamworld isn’t oppression, it’s their civic duty. Stop whining you pathetic coward.

    • arc99 September 30th, 2015 at 10:56

No one has been hammered mercilessly. Everyone in this country has to follow the law

Unless of course, you would also refer to a Muslim DMV worker being forced to issue a driver’s license to a woman, despite his strong religious objections to a woman driving, as being mercilessly hammered.

      • Robert Smithson September 30th, 2015 at 11:45

A law that denies people their “conscience” rights is a bad law.

        • Carla Akins September 30th, 2015 at 12:27

Except when their “conscience” violates someone else’s rights. Little Sister’s were provided an out, they chose not to take it.

        • DetroitSam September 30th, 2015 at 16:17

This is a really stupid thing to say. Try again.

You certainly have the right to disobey laws. You should be willing to take the punishment, instead of whining about how you’re oppressed by the rules everyone else has to follow, you pathetic, whining wimp of a human being.

    • William September 30th, 2015 at 12:12

You of course have some sort of link that verifies your contention that “Obama has hammered mercilessly the Little Sisters of the poor”.

So this blimp and her hubby Junior Samples somehow snuck past all those journalists outside the embassy?

    Is that remotely possible?

Where was the press? There are millions of cell phone cameras out there and no pix posted of her at the airport or anywhere near the embassy?

I’ll believe it when I see it.

  7. craig7120 September 30th, 2015 at 10:57

Makes sense, in that the story breaks after pope leaves. Lawyer released information, I’m more inclined to believe this report rather had she announced this from her front porch.

I don’t try to convince everyone I meet that their religious beliefs are wrong and are not in line with my way of thinking. Seems reasonable, right? If the pope doesn’t like gay marriage, so what, I don’t like liver, you’re not gonna make me like it, but I won’t stand in your way to enjoy a plate of liver & onions.

Now, I’m off to persecute those xtians who feel their religious rights are not being promoted and followed by those who don’t believe in magic.

Only the Pope knows the exact reasons why his schedule was arranged the way it was.

For those of you seeking to use the Pope’s visit to Kim Davis as some kind of indication that the Pontiff approves of everything she is doing, I would remind you that the Pope also visited a prison.

So maybe the lesson here is that the Pope spent his time in private visits with people who made very bad decisions. Prisoners and Kim Davis certainly qualify.

Inside a Philadelphia prison, the pope offers inmates hope and redemption

      They lied, it never happened.

    • tracey marie September 30th, 2015 at 21:59

They are, they told a evangelical blogger with a monthly mag and he wrote about it.

We may have praised much of what Pope Francis expressed during his USA visit, but the bottom line is that this whole ordeal was an inappropriate overreach, if we are to truly abide by the separation of church and state.

  12. CHOCOL8MILK October 1st, 2015 at 02:59

She’s enjoying this celebrity status. She won’t let it go easily….but if the Pope thing is true or not….time will tell.

  13. Lena Priamo October 1st, 2015 at 12:34

So lost faith in him but the facts are that a Bishop who was appointed by Benedict is the one who set it up. I think Francis was hoodwinked.

  14. MerryMarjie October 1st, 2015 at 13:40

If I’m not mistaken, Kimmie is a Baptist, right? What would a Pope’s blessing mean to her? More publicity? Who set up that meeting, and why? And, why was it kept secret until the Pope was out of the country?

Gee, seems there is something akin to politics here, but in whose favor? Someone please ask the Pope what he gained from this little deception, because he just lost a lot of LGBT support.
