Bob Bergdahl, Released POW’s Dad Is A–Republican

Posted by | June 8, 2014 12:53 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

He’s being called a Muslim, a traitor and a Taliban sympathizer, and getting threats because of conservative anger about the deal made for the release of his son. As it turns out, Bob Bergdahl is a Republican. The Daily Beast reported:

In June 2010, Robert Bergdahl, the father of released American POW Bowe Bergdahl, gave a speech at an Idaho Republican Party fundraiser. In one of his first public appearances during his son’s five-year captivity, he asked the conservative audience to show compassion for his son’s captors—and, in a twist that foretold the plot of Homeland—he alleged that the United States had killed one of those captor’s children with a drone strike…

“I grew up in a conservative family in Los Angeles,” he said with a smile. “My father was for Goldwater. He wore a Nixon button in our liberal Jewish neighborhood. I was the lone U.C. Santa Barbara surfer who voted for Ronald Reagan.” Many in the audience nodded in approval, and then Bergdahl talked about the work of retrieving his son.

He is a biker that lives in Idaho .. not that shocking that he is a Republican and probably an extreme right winger.

But conservatives are willing to eat their own if it means a tiny shot at making the black president look bad for couple days

So I guess the Republicans consider Abraham Lincoln to be a muslim, then? What about their conference ‘KEYNOTE’ speaker, Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty? Isn’t he bearded as are his fellow cast members? These republicans are simply hypocritical idiots, bigots and arrogant fools.

    • Guiles-Scott June 9th, 2014 at 13:59

Compared to who the Repugs are now, Abraham Lincoln would pass as a Democrat.
The political parties used to be switch, lol.

At least the Bergdahl family is getting to see the ‘family values’ party up close and personal.

Rude awakening for a ditzy faux-‘mountain man’ that wanted to live off the grid, allowed his two kids to be “home skooled,” and learned Pashto so he could be called in by the State Department just in case all the experts were out of town on vacation.

He’s an airhead of the first degree – the move to Idaho merely confirmed it – and, as sad as it is that he is seeing his little made-up world crumble around his stupid flip-flops…he deserved it.

Why not ask for some TV time and lash out at the TeaKluxers, Bob ?

You could do a part in Pashto, I’m sure.

    • cecilia June 9th, 2014 at 17:04

      damn, that’s harsh!

of course if Bob is found out to be a creationist then all bets are off and you can rip the skin off his body with my blessing :)

Are family values a bad thing?

      • Paul V Sutera June 10th, 2014 at 05:06

Family values – meaning be like us, go to our church, be Christian, and whatever you do, don’t be gay.

        • Ross Cassell June 10th, 2014 at 17:07

Being faithful to ones spouse, teaching your children the difference between right and wrong is a bad thing to liberals?

          • arc99 June 10th, 2014 at 17:15

            No.

            next question.

            • Ross Cassell June 10th, 2014 at 17:39

Well good, then tell your comrades that family values aren’t bad and no ideology has the market cornered on screwing it up or living it perfectly.

Sanctimonious hypocrites are “bad” to liberals, whether it is Vitter or Edwards.

Notice the quotation marks around the the words “family values.” Do you not understand sarcasm? The Republican party is as far from family values as they can get.

      • spacegod June 11th, 2014 at 01:41

STAY FAR AWAY from any group with “Family” in its name.

Giving a speech at a fund raiser, asking for compassion for terrorists, hardly typical conservative. Sounds like liberals saying terrorists are misunderstood. Anyway his politics have nothing to do with the fact that Obama traded 5 highly dangerous criminals for one deserter.
