Wingnuts Outraged Michelle Obama Is Concerned Over Kidnapped Nigerian School Girls

Posted by | May 11, 2014 07:27 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Top Stories

Michelle Obama took over the President’s weekly radio address on Saturday to criticize the kidnapping of hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls. Ms.Obama called it an “unconscionable act” and deemed the act, in this case by Boko Haram, as “grown men attempting to snuff out the aspirations of young girls.”

She said, “In these girls, Barack and I see our own daughters. We see their hopes, their dreams and we can only imagine the anguish their parents are feeling right now.”

Totally evil, right? Wingnuts think so.

On several social sites I couldn’t find one supportive comment. On Twitter, Republicans photoshopped an image of Ms. Obama holding a “Bring Back Our Girls” sign to a Benghazi sign, naturally.

Via Newsmax:

Via Free Republic. (I can’t believe I actually went there):

Actor James Woods, noted wingnut:

This big dummy is running for Congress (according to his Twitter profile):

In honor of Mr. Ben Ghazi, they circulated this photoshopped image:

There are over 200 schoolgirls held captive by a terrorist organization. This shouldn’t be about politics. We should be united in this cause but obviously their hatred toward our First Lady trumps concern for 220 abducted schoolgirls who are to be sold for $12.00.

I completely agree, but apologize I had to edit before approving.

It’s like a competition with the right wing to see who can show the most hate and vitriol. The republican party’s soul has been corrupted. I don’t know how they can go to any church and reconcile themselves with this much evil intent emanating from them, you would think they would spontaneously combust upon entering a church. If the republican party cannot purge this hate from themselves then it should be all of America’s duty to remove the republicans from power. America should not be a place filled with so much hate and vitriol.

It’s a competition alright: A race to the bottom.

      • fahvel May 11th, 2014 at 11:33

I wouldn’t visit the usa if they weren’t the absolute bottom already – what can the bottom you are referring to look like? Yuck.

I travelled overseas for years. I can understand your sentiments, however, we’re not all morons here. There’s just a more vocal fringe element determined to make sane America look idiotic.

Yes but who gets all the attention? The fat old white GOPer standing in front of a crowd screaming for blood! There is no question that many of us do not fall into their genre. But it is discouraging when the only ones who get the attention are the ignorant trashy old men leading us back to the days of slavery and women not voting.

In the case of the reaction to Michelle’s comments, a nice looking black woman who speaks of her sadness and concern for the Nigerian girls, it ought to be her that gets the positive reaction–not the hate and racist villification I’ve hear and seen on these pages.

        • BanditBasheert May 11th, 2014 at 12:37

I still believe there are good people in this country. Much of our trouble is that the media stokes this behavior. Racism is still a story in the USA. Disgusting as it is, the loudest and most vicious are the ones the media chooses to cover – especially if people are threatened, harmed or even killed.
I believe this country is sick. I don’t know what the answer is, but it has changed who I am and how I feel about America.

“you would think they would spontaneously combust upon entering a church.”

If only. Unfortunately, a lot of right-wing conservative “Christian” churches are cesspools of hate. Bigots are quite at home there.

Not “good Christians”..Good Christians love one another, heal the sick, feed the hungry. Crazies shoot doctors in church.

        • Mark Warren May 12th, 2014 at 10:14

As much as I would like to agree, ALL Christians go to heaven; regardless of what acts they commit while on earth. Its what I call the ‘EZ-out of hell’. At the same time, I as an atheist, am doomed to hell regardless of the good I do while here on earth.

          • Don Berghuis May 12th, 2014 at 13:16

Only those who will avail themselves of Christ’s sacrifice will go to Heaven. I am going to Heaven because Jesus Christ died for my sins–no other reason. Not because I did good things in life, not because I was a nice person—–only because Jesus died for my sins and I bought into it. If I buy into it, I will try to live a good and decent life—that is called showing the Fruits of the Spirit. As far as you not going to Heaven, Mark Warren, that is between you and God.

            • Mark Warren May 14th, 2014 at 10:40

              So Don,
Perhaps you didnt get my message? All you have to do is accept Jesus christ as your lord and savior. There is NO OTHER qualification. Sure, the ‘lord’ would like you to be a nice guy and treat everyone fair, BUT you dont have to. Because you already have Jesus on your side. Just like Charles Manson Ted Bundy and yes, Hitler. ALL of them claim to be Christians.

But Ghandi is burning in hell while you believers are smiling down and laughing because that is God’s love.

              • Don Berghuis May 14th, 2014 at 12:04

I think the operative word in your comments is “claim” to be Christians. Jesus said that by their fruits you will know them. That said, I believe that IF Manson, Bundy, Hitler had an experience of accepting Jesus Christ—yes, they could be saved and go to Heaven. I don’t know whether a good man lie Ghandi will—that decision rests in his relationship with God. It might be that he will be in heaven. In any event, I, as a Christian, will not be sitting in Heaven laughing at those who are in Hell. If I have any cognizance of Hell when I am in Heaven (which is open to question) I will not e laughing at their pain and suffering—-rather, as Christ is, I will be hoping that some change in their torment can come. If you ask God to forgive you, trust me—He will, no matter what kind of a louse you might have been. Ask Him. I did, and He said yes.

    • BanditBasheert May 11th, 2014 at 12:33

There is a spot in their brain that has rotted. The lack of social conscience and just plain keeping your mouth shut rather than say something vile and disgusting seems to represent the GOP in general. I am waiting for the time that they add a requirement to be white and a racist to their Plank.

You seriously can’t understand how people who adhere to a religion based on a badly written book full of hate, lies and outright murder would be hateful, dishonest and exhibit violent tendencies?

      Seriously?

They fit right in with the violent and hateful desert religion they follow.

      Really.

      • Don Berghuis May 11th, 2014 at 21:21

I don’t see the Bible as a badly written book full of hate, lies, and outright murder. Jesus did say “Love one another, even as I have loved you. Do good to one another.” That some who claim the mantle of Christianity say evil things does not negate Christ.

President and Mrs. Obama have spoken out on travesties and tragedies from all walks of life, American and otherwise; the racists in the Republican party and particularly the tea party birther racists only hear and see what they want. insofar as James Wood, he is merely a has been “c” list actor that was aided more by the quality of his voice than his acting abilities; he certainly has never done any acting remotely deserving of any accolades. At best his characters have been second banana caricatures; he is an actor who’s personal contribution to society as a whole is void of any redeeming value. His recent antics have relegated his legacy to nothing more than that as a third rated actor that was nothing more than a bitter petty racist. He will be known merely as the racist half baked actor.

    • BanditBasheert May 11th, 2014 at 12:29

I had no clue he held such filthy views. Although he certainly isn’t an actor I would go out of my way to see, from now on I will go out of my way to avoid. Not because he holds those views, but because he is so ignorant he thinks expressing his views makes him popular.

For the brain dead out there wondering why the First Lady refers to the girls as ” our girls” is because she is referring to them as that with a sense of empathy as a parent . Honest to God do you people have an education beyond the sixth grade? I can’t wait for the ” what is she talking about ” comments regarding what I just explained . As a Caucasian woman ( not that it matters) I consider those girls to be my girls too . We ALL DO ! No matter the color of our skin is that explanation enough ? Trust me I’ve read enough ignorance online in reference to this LADY and her HUSBAND to be completely disgusted at some of my fellow Americans who quite obviously abuse their first amendment rights! Ignorant racists who could care less that these girls are still missing .

    • BanditBasheert May 11th, 2014 at 12:25

      Well said.
I use that term when referring to my daughter and granddaughter – not because of their being white.
These people do get it, they choose to not get it. Anything that they can glom onto to express their racism in as vile a way as possible, they are up for. It is a social disease / this country looks like a bunch of crazed ignorant haters.
