Archbishop Who Arranged Pope Meeting With Davis Likely To Be Removed

Pope Francis and the Vatican have to rely on local authorities of the church when there is a visit to foreign countries, and if there is a sense that the Pope has been misled, there is hell to pay. Visits with the Pope in D.C. were arranged through the office of Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, the papal nuncio, or envoy, in Washington.

The Rev. James Martin, editor at large of the Jesuit magazine America, had cautioned in an article this week that the pope meets many well-wishers on his trips, and that news of the meeting with Ms. Davis had been manipulated.

“I was very disappointed to see the pope having been used that way, and that his willingness to be friendly to someone was turned against him,” Father Martin said in an interview on Friday…

Archbishop Viganò is turning 75 in January, the age at which bishops must submit a formal request to the Vatican asking for permission to resign. These requests are not automatically accepted, and bishops often stay in their appointments well past age 75. But if Archbishop Viganò is held responsible for what is seen as a grave misstep on an important papal trip, he is likely to be removed at the first respectable opportunity, according to several church analysts.

Kim Davis had her name removed from these marriage certificates so what…seems…to…be… the… problem? Such an attack on a very religious and devout Christian, the Pope is known world-wide as a very nice man, now you see why the rest of the work can’t stand us, it’s the gay issue and abortions.

    • bpollen October 4th, 2015 at 05:07

According to law, she can’t alter documents, and those documents have to be uniform throughout the state, as in all have the name of clerks except for hers. So the problem is that she is saying that federal law doesn’t apply to her, that she can refuse to follow the laws of her state that govern her office, and that she has the right to deny legal rights to ALL people because of “teh GAYZ!”

And I read foreign press. They think America is a bunch of warmongering gun fetishists and bigots. They think America is crazy. They think that America doesn’t have any qualms about directly involving themselves in other countries political process. They think Americans are rude and pretentious and self-involved. But what I DO NOT read is that ” it’s the gay issue and abortions.”

You might wanna get your projector fixed.

      • mcalleyboy October 4th, 2015 at 06:08

Have you watched any Russian video’s of gays? They don’t tolerate it there and you’ll never find any predominately Catholic nation supporting gay marriage.

Laws need to change… if someone feels that they’ll got to hades if they have their name printed on a marital license then why is it needed? They got their cake and license what else do they want.

        • Anomaly 100 October 4th, 2015 at 07:30

Maybe you should move to Russia.

        • bpollen October 4th, 2015 at 07:45

“you’ll never find any predominately Catholic nation supporting gay marriage.”

I discovered it was quite easy to find Brazil. Not sure where YOUR faculties fail you here. Which means, using little words so you don’t have to google anything, you are wrong. I DID find a predominantly Catholic nation supporting gay marriage. I guess this means we can easily discount everything ELSE in your post.

          • mcalleyboy October 4th, 2015 at 09:42

Catholics support a gay wedding? No… maybe the government, you don’t know Chatholisim… do you.

            • allison1050 October 4th, 2015 at 09:44

But I do know Catholisim pumpkin, so don’t even go into the area of trying to imply that ALL Catholics are against anything gay.

              • mcalleyboy October 4th, 2015 at 20:05

I had it wrong, I meant the Catholic Church. Gay lifestyle and unions are very open and for the most part supported but the Catholic leadership made it clear (SE Asia) there won’t be any gay marriages.

            • Roctuna October 4th, 2015 at 10:12

That is precisely the point. Individual catholics are free to approve or disapprove of gay anything they want. Governments, which are secular, even in Brazil, Ireland and Spain, let alone here, approve of gay rights because that just means equal rights for all citizens.

            • Dennis Cox-Townsend October 4th, 2015 at 12:14

The issue isn’t religion, it’s about equality in civil rights. If a nation allows same sex marriage, you can’t say the nation doesn’t support it just because Catholicism is the majority religion in that country. You’re mixing apples and oranges.

              • mcalleyboy October 4th, 2015 at 20:01

Not really because most nations believe in their moral and religious values they seem to think we don’t have any anymore. If you live in another country you’ll get my point.

            • RJ October 4th, 2015 at 13:31

The majority of Catholic men and women support same-gender civil marriage equality. Unlike other Christian denominations, Catholics are, as a whole, able to separate the sacrament of marriage as a religious rite to civil marriage as a legal right. Same-gender couples are not and have never been asking for unfettered access to the sacrament of marriage in the Roman Catholic Church.

Compared to other sects of Christianity, Catholicism is more likely to uphold the “give unto Caesar” mentality and able to draw the line between where their own religious faith ends and the religious beliefs of others begin. While that wasn’t the case throughout history, it is more the case today. Roman Catholics have proven, at least in the United States, that they understand what religious freedom means (both freedom of and freedom from religion) with the occasional exception like this archbishop above.

In my own experience, I rest assured knowing that Roman Catholics would not try to force their religious beliefs on me through the rule of law – or at least not to the same degree as your more modern, evangelical Christian denominations in the US *cough* Southern Baptist *cough*.

              • mcalleyboy October 4th, 2015 at 19:56

Agree that Catholic worshipers do accept the gay lifestyle, not so much the church though, they remain steady but it’s either support the teachings or don’t, the bible makes it clear not to worship idols but the Catholic Church is very large on Idol worshipping (they don’t seem to think so though) and for the most part, they don’t follow the Old Testament very well or try to re-interpret the words, they 10 Commandments seem to be clear though.

            • ohpaleasegivemeabreak October 4th, 2015 at 15:55

              Funny.

Real CATHOLIC PEOPLE I know support it because they are not bigoted jerks.

              • mcalleyboy October 4th, 2015 at 19:43

I agree with you, it’s supported by families and people, true statement, I meant the Church as a whole will not support a gay union.

            • lynchie October 4th, 2015 at 16:10

and thankfully I haven’t had a thing to do with the church since my best friend got raped by a priest.

              • mcalleyboy October 4th, 2015 at 19:41

Sorry to hear that, that’s just one of many reason why I don’t go to church also.

            • bpollen October 4th, 2015 at 18:24

Show me your personally conducted polling amongst Brazilians that shows their opinion of gay marriage. Because without that, all available evidence shows that they DO support gay marriage. You claimed that I couldn’t find a Catholic nation supporting it. You were wrong there (easily proven wrong to boot) so there is more than adequate reason to disbelieve your claims without supporting evidence.

              ” you don’t know Chatholisim… do you.”

I’ll assume that is a question, though you write it as a statement. You are right, I don’t know “Chatholisim” and neither does anyone else in the world. But if you are so ignorant of the religion that you are clueless how they spell it, I’ll take my six-days-a-week Catholic brainwashing mass at St. Mary’s, along with the nuns and priests in my family, as sufficient familiarity with the religion to equal any expertise a Chatholic claims.

We’ll just wait for the documentation to support the polling of Brazilian “Chatholics” you must have done to know that the Brazilan government is forcing gay marriage on them.

              • mcalleyboy October 4th, 2015 at 19:39

What nation doesn’t support a gay lifestyle? It’s very open but not so much the church so you got me on clever wording but the Catholic Church is very standardized and in some cases the play a very big hand in local governments.

                • bpollen October 4th, 2015 at 20:55

“so you got me on clever wording”

Attempted face-saving interpretation of events… You make it sound like I somehow tricked you into shooting yourself in the foot.

Abe didn’t write the Constitution…and you need someone else to sort out the parties for you. The GOP today is not the same GOP that my grandparents belonged to…..

                  • mcalleyboy October 6th, 2015 at 01:25

You guys never loose do you? Who freed the slaves, and who was an honest lawyer/businessman before he became President, sounds very GOP to me.

                    • clemans October 6th, 2015 at 06:00

I used to be a republican. I left the party because it changed direction and at this time has a platform that is bad for the majority of the nation. At this time, the GOP platform offers nothing for anyone other than the few super rich. I vote NOW not in Lincoln”s time.

If you have to go back that far, and try to pretend the party is the same, then my advice would be to get your hearing checked.

I am not a democrat, and there is no person and no party who is always right.

        • ohpaleasegivemeabreak October 4th, 2015 at 15:54

They want it to be LEGAL while your beloved hatemongering phony christian law breaking constitution hating cheater Kim Davis is making every effort to be CERTAIN that it’s NOT because of her HATE.

        • lynchie October 4th, 2015 at 16:09

It is not a religious issue. Who cares whether any predominately catholic nation supports it. This america we make our laws and the SC decided in favor of equality. Luckily religions do not decide what is legal or not

          • mcalleyboy October 4th, 2015 at 19:42

But the world doesn’t like it as mainstream and most nations are ruled by religion so it’s a big hit on our values and morals.

            • lynchie October 4th, 2015 at 19:45

Most nations are not ruled by religion. what are you living in the 12 century/

No… but we aren’t a nation of atheists, and we shouldn’t let special interest groups and immigrants try to change us.

What the hell are you talking about?

      • clemans October 4th, 2015 at 13:56

I have had friends from all over the globe from being a military spouse, since 1980. We email and talk on the phone regularly. I have a relative from Saudi and from New Zealand.

All of them pretty much say the same things you have said…..some are a bit more politically correct…..but that is spot on.

        • ohpaleasegivemeabreak October 4th, 2015 at 15:51

Can’t remember where I read it now but earlier in the day, I read a comment from an Aussie regarding his take on the Aussies tossing that obnoxious radical forced birther from the US who wanted to go over to Australia and start his hate group up there.

He basically said the same thing – the world laughs at us and thinks we are the stupidest bunch of violent hatemongering nitwits ever created because of the republicans.

They KNOW it’s because of the REPUBICANS.

          THANKS REPUBLICANS

I believe that about 524,000 people were said to ahve voted for bush……the headlines in England read, “How can 524,000 people be so dumb” or words like that…maybe “stupid”

    • Deb October 4th, 2015 at 10:52

Please, Dude, no one is “attacking” her. She was found to be in contempt of court for refusing to do her job, for interfering with legal processes, and for altering government documents. Her “conscience” and “faith” are excuses for practicing bigotry – if the couples in question were interracial, you wouldn’t be arguing in her favor. No one asked you to murder anyone, Sweetie. The “gay issue and abortions” translate into civil equality, Mr. Man of God. Go find a remote island to move to if this is a problem for you.

      • mcalleyboy October 4th, 2015 at 20:03

I’m not such a big man of God and well…. I did move to a remote island in the South Pacific and yes it is a problem for me because I wouldn’t want my name on any certificate for a gay union (makes little sense).

        • Deb October 4th, 2015 at 21:36

Well, at least you’re honest and admit that your bigotry is your own and don’t try to blame it on God. The argument is over: a “gay union” is the same as any other union now, and it’s not going to get reversed. Deal with it.

          • mcalleyboy October 5th, 2015 at 23:25

I feel that marriage should be separate from the government, that’s my complaint.

            • whatthe46 October 5th, 2015 at 23:39

no one gives a rats ass what you think.

    • clemans October 4th, 2015 at 13:52

The Pope likes us just fine, he even said so. Abortion is legal in this nation as well as in several others. We have a separation of church and state. Davis is very welcome to her own beliefs, however she took an oath to uphold the Constitution. The Supreme Court ruled and gay marriage is legal. She does not have to like it. She doesn’t even have to do her job. But if she chooses not to, she needs to quit and let someone else who will do the job have it.

The rest of the world doesn’t like us because they see us as reckless and war hungry. Note how England (about our closet ally in the past) has opened an embassy in Iran with other allies working on that. About 6-7 other countries have said that they are going to ignore the GOP and cut the deal with Iran, they are fed up with republicans. They are tired of us wasting our time on social issues. They want us to lead or get out of the way.

At the same time, we have a separation of church and state and the Pope has every legal right to believe how he chooses and to meet with anybody he wants to. I didn’t support Davis being released but once released there was no reason she shouldn’t have been able to meet with the Pope. It isn’t our business.

His views on the dangers of climate change is based on his science background and facts plus his belief in the Bible. His views on gay marriage are based on his religious beliefs and he is entitled to both.

      • mcalleyboy October 4th, 2015 at 19:49

Pope doesn’t like abortion also known as the murder of a very vulnerable baby (Fetus is the incorrect word) and he is definitely against gay marriage.

War is a reality and way for man to evolve, it becomes slaughter when you take away a citizens right to own a weapon. In the beginning I felt Obama was right in taking out world leaders, draw-down of our military but it turns out both were a huge blunder, assassination of world leaders is actually a no-no and now we know why, so Russia has a better heads up than the community leader in the WH and Chicago is thug central full of violence and has the toughest gun laws, so another blunder by Obeersummit.

        • clemans October 4th, 2015 at 20:07

most people probably don’t “like” abortion and the Pope is not obligated to like it. He also doesn’t like people being on death row and asked that one state spare a woman on death row, which they declined to do. And he doesn’t have to like gay marriage. It is his right to decide how he feels on these issues. Just as it is our own right to decide for ourselves.

I don’t think he would agree with you at all on your theory about war. And he seems to like President Obama just fine…..

          • mcalleyboy October 5th, 2015 at 23:28

The Pope has a message for each and every country and his message was quiet but clear, he’s not into gay lifestyle and doesn’t like the fact we kill unborn babies, the trouble is we as American’s don’t like to hear that message and feel it’s unfair but he speaks for the world.

            • clemans October 6th, 2015 at 00:05

he doesn’t have to be into a gay lifestyle……he isn’t into a heterosexual one either. He also doesn’t have to agree with abortion. I do not see how it is unfair for him to hold his own opinions. He is entitled to believe how he feels and the church is free to believe what they want.

He does not speak for the world. There are Jews, Muslims, and a great many other religions….and no and loves everybody.n-believers too. He is inclusive

        • Bunya October 4th, 2015 at 22:00

          1) What the pope thinks of a woman’s right to choose is irrelevant. When he starts giving birth (let alone having sex), then we might take his opinion into consideration.

          2) a fetus is a potential baby. If it is not viable outside the woman’s body, it is not a baby and therefore cannot be murdered.

          3) War is a choice. Killing people in war, although it is murder, it’s usually considered by people like you to be considered “collateral damage”.

          4) If you take away somebody’s killing device, it cuts down on his chances of murdering someone.

          5) President Obama doesn’t have a hard on for wars, which is why he takes a more peaceful approach to negotiations, regardless of what you warmongering, armchair generals may think.

          6) It’s true that Chicago has one of the toughest gun laws in the country. Unfortunately, it only takes 20 minutes to drive into Indiana, a red state who has no gun control laws and practically sells guns and ammo out of vending machines, and purchase a killing device for a song.

          • mcalleyboy October 5th, 2015 at 23:24

I overdosed on those great tasting orange aspirin (thought it was candy) when I was 2 and when I woke up there was the smallest baby I’d ever seen in my life in front of me in what I can only describe as an incubator and on life support, that was in 1964. How many of you still remember stuff from that age?

            • Bunya October 6th, 2015 at 10:32

I remember when I was in 6th grade, a girl at our local high school(who was 18 at the time and pre-Roe v. Wade) became pregnant. She tried to end the pregnancy by giving herself a bleach douche. She died.

              • mcalleyboy October 6th, 2015 at 19:00

Sad story, I’m for an abortion, not sure how far along your friend was but not for late term, why don’t they just have the baby and if they don’t want it give it up for adoption. Not only pre-Roe vs Wade but pre-health care for young ladies, I feel schools have come much farther in helpful information.

        • tracey marie October 4th, 2015 at 22:10

Irrelevent, he runs the vatican not our secular country. War is a man made construct for control and violence, not evolution.

          • mcalleyboy October 5th, 2015 at 23:22

We don’t like to hear the truth because we are Americans but that’s the message from the world. War is not for control but it’s how we evolve and conquer.

and had the Pope done that, we would have something legitimate to talk about. Now all we have is a Pope being a Pope and following his religion legally in the US……we have a separation of church and state, really it isn’t one sided, it protects believers and non-believers too.

    • clemans October 4th, 2015 at 13:34

are you saying that you want this man to be in trouble for having Davis meet with the Pope?

I am a liberal, not a conservative, and this type of thinking is what I would expect of conservative. Not only would I not sign such a petition but I am going to post against such a measure and ask that you please reconsider..

I am an atheist, I think religion is hooey, and I support gay marriage and same and equal rights under the law. I supported Davis being arrested and do not feel she should have been released. But the Pope is a world leader and he has the right to meet with anybody he wants to, and Davis has the right to meet with the Pope too.

The Pope is not an American, has no obligation to see a separation of church and state, and his meeting with someone opposed to gay marriage is in keeping with his church. It is one of the reasons why I reject religion. We do have a separation of church and state and IF that petition is trying to get someone fired because of the meeting than whoever crafted the petition is no better than Davis. The separation between church and state goes both ways. The church is protected and has the right to believe anything they want…….legally.

If you don’t like that the Pope opposes gay marriage, then address that issue with the church. Get them to change their thinking on gay marriage. But don’t blame the Pope for living up to his beliefs and the church teaching. He might meet with killers, rapists, drunks, prostitutes, all manor of socially unacceptable people but he has that right to do so.

@ clemens Since you so generously tell us that you are a liberal, not a conservative and an atheist……what is your sexual orientation. The reason I ask because that is as important regarding this issue. So please, are you gay or straight???

        • clemans October 4th, 2015 at 14:08

I am female, married for over 30 yrs, and have several children.

I support same and equal protections under the law in honor of my family members who have served honorably in the military…..spouse nearly 25 yrs his dad 28, and 2 grandsons in for up to 10 yrs, and a sone and 2 daughter-in-laws serving……so 5 family members now serving.

They took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and the United States for ALL Americans, not just conservatives or liberals, not for Christians or non-Christians, and not for gay or straight.

All of my kids are straight, all but one has children and the last one has only been married a couple of years….think they are talking about kids now.

          Thanks for asking.

          • Clowncarexpress October 4th, 2015 at 14:41

So you are straight. See, that is the difference. I’m going on 40 years in my same sex relationship and have endured many hardships through the years including my husbands military service. I also come from a military family (WWII, Korean, and Vietnam) and I worked at the White House for many years always mindful of my FBI investigations. I certainly respect your opinion and appreciate your support for everyone. But please understand where I’m coming from. Here’s hoping you do and if not that OK too.

            • clemans October 4th, 2015 at 15:36

I am white, living in what was a white dominant nation, upper class, and sexually the side most acceptable in the nation. It will be impossible for me to tell you that I know what it feels like to have gone through what you have gone through. I can never feel that. I am glad I didn’t and sorry that you or anybody has had to. That is as good as I can get from a place of privilege that I didn’t earn.

But that doesn’t change the facts I gave for asking for you to reconsider the petition. Wrong being done to you does not justify you doing wrong to someone else. You are justified to FEEL anyway you do and do not have to answer for your feelings.

I used to dream that my husband’s ex-wife would fall into an open manhole and swirl around in the sewer system…..and take my husband with her, but I wouldn’t actually remove the manhole cover. It is wrong to try to tell the Pope who to meet with. We don’t even have a clue to what he said to her. That just doesn’t even matter. If you don’t like it, don’t be Catholic or write a letter to the church and tell them it is about time they came up to modern times. It won’t happen yet but the push has to come and be consistent.

Good luck….maybe read the Constitution and remember the oath…..that might help. I don’t see you need to forgive Kim for anything……I am not going to.

        • clemans October 4th, 2015 at 14:14

the Constitution is important. It defines who we are as a nation. It tells the world what our values are, what we are willing to fight and die for if needed. If we don’t live up to the promises in that document, then what difference would it be if we surrendered our rights to the terrorists or too the communists in times past. We need to protect what we have, honor it, and live it.

The separation of church and state protects religion from people like me that would like to see it eliminated and it protects me from people like Davis who would force her religious views onto the rest of the nation.

It is like saying we have free speech as long as you say what I want to hear, then you can’t have free speech. Having it is no good if it isn’t used and it comes with NO guarantees that we will only hear what we want to hear. We ahve to be adults and go back to the document that defines us.

        • clemans October 4th, 2015 at 15:20

I should have said that my sexuality may be of interest to you for some reason, but I don’t need to be gay to support gay rights. I don’t need to be Catholic to support the ope, I just need to do the right thing based on the Constitution and the laws of this land.

Same and equal comes from I believe the 14th Amendment at any rate, it is the law and we are a nation of laws. And we also have that separation of church and state…….I fiercely argued for Davis to be thrown in jail because it was the right thing to do. Freedom is complicated, but we either support it or we don’t. We don’t get to pick and choose and expect that everyone else has to follow. The laws are there for all of us.

        • lynchie October 4th, 2015 at 16:03

The answer to your question is….none of your business. the vatican is a separate country and does not abide by our laws and culture. the church has hidden and protected pedophiles for centuries. The pope is not committed to purge the church of these monsters and they could care less what Obama or people in the U.S. think

    • lynchie October 4th, 2015 at 15:59

Why do they give a shit what Obama thinks? Obama has not commented on the Kim Davis crap at any point

      • ka5s October 5th, 2015 at 12:38

He doesn’t have to. The Supreme Court said everything necessary:

Held: The Fourteenth Amendment requires a State to license a marriage between two people of the same sex and to recognize a marriage between two people of the same sex when their marriage was lawfully licensed and performed out-of-State. Pp. 3–28.

        • lynchie October 5th, 2015 at 13:00

Agreed but the comment was about getting a petition to have Obama talk to the vatican to get the priest in Philli fired. Never happen. Interesting that she continues to refuse to do her job and nothing is happening. Shows how much power the religious right has over our elected reps.

    • bpollen October 4th, 2015 at 21:23

Where have you been when the WBC repeatedly capered about flinging feces? Do you have a petition you’ve sent to any president to issue a Letter of Protest on the WBC? Because I find them astronomically more reprehensible than one act of one archbishop. Or have you created a petition for a Letter of Protest for Huckabee meeting with Kim Davis? Or anybody else meeting with Kim Davis (Ted Cruz, maybe?)

I’m not a defender or apologist for Catholicism, but in the language of religion, you are showing outrage over venal sin when there are so many mortal sins you are ignoring.

Count me as a no for your petition.

    • Clowncarexpress October 4th, 2015 at 22:02

You guys are the proof I need that this country continues to deny an honest truth. That hatred is a big part of the national psyche. A Letter of Protest is a legitimate tool our government can use as a tool. Not everyone will agree, as obviously opined in here.

However, I still have to right to create a petition just like each of you have to right to provide your opinions. And no, I’m not surprised the hatred exhibited by some of you. I hope you all went to Sunday church as expected of such perfect people as yourselves.

Oh yes, one other thing. Words like flinging feces, crap, and the exhibited overall hate just goes to show that we still have a long way to go. As long as ignorant people exist, we must continue to fight and not relent for one moment. Anyone who believes that the separation of church and state is alive and well are only turning a blind eye. The mingling of Church and State has been around for thousands of years and it ain’t going anywhere.

With the catholic attitude as anti-gay why should they remove him.

    • whatthe46 October 5th, 2015 at 01:43

that’s very ignorant. you are suggesting that everyone who is catholic, is against gay relationships and that’s absolutely NOT true. this pos, has had it out for this pope from day one, because this pope care about all people and don’t approve of discrimination or anyone. educate yourself before you speak.

      • James Windsor October 5th, 2015 at 03:36

You obviously do not know what you are talking about.

I’m a Roman Catholic and I do know that you Jammie are wrong. The gentleman and former student that the Pope was scheduled to meet with not only met him AGAIN and his companion of many many years. He is NOT anti gay but is tolerant of all people.

      • ecotoper October 6th, 2015 at 19:59

whatthe46 ” … because this pope care about all people and don’t approve of discrimination or anyone. educate yourself before you speak.” Perhaps you might consider heeding your own advice.

He shows up and starts arguments with everyone, the whines like a prepubescent little girl who has lost her pink frilly underwear.

whatthe46 … Of course those words made no sense … they are your very own … you pump out so much garbage, you can’t even identify your own verbal debris … but, you will always have tracey to bolster you with her thumb up your ass … when she hits 100,000 posts in a few weeks, she can take a shot at a Ripley’s record entry … you guys really are an important contribution to our society’s political discourse … keep up the good work …

                • whatthe46 October 6th, 2015 at 21:17

no fool. you made no sense. i have no problem with what i said, what’s you fk’n point? and i don’t need tracey to back me up, nor does she need me. we can handle ourselves just fine thank you. but if you want to jump on her case or anyone else, i will jump on yours. the fact is, tracey makes sense and your dumb ass doesn’t. nor did you make any sense in your response to my post. now, try agoddamngin’.

my last pay check was $7559 working 8 hours a week online. My sisters friend has been averaging 16k for months now and she works about 18 hours a week. I can’t believe how easy it was once I tried it out. This is what I do…

Fr Vigano turned a very sacred religious event into a political statement. He should be defrocked and ex-communicated from the Church. We’ll see within the coming weeks how upset Pope Francis really is with him.

    • chilegirl October 9th, 2015 at 12:12

      Sacred? C’mon.
How much did this little trip cost the US taxpayers?
      In Philly alone over $80m.
