George Will: ‘the most dreadful inaugural address in history’

Posted by | January 21, 2017 10:38 | Filed under: Politics

It doesn’t get worse than that.

George Will has already written one of the harshest takes on President Trump‘s inaugural address today, calling it “the most dreadful” one in history…

In what should have been a civic liturgy serving national unity and confidence, he vindicated his severest critics by serving up reheated campaign rhetoric about “rusted out factories scattered like tombstones across the landscape” and an education system producing students “deprived of all knowledge.” Yes, all.

But cheer up, because the carnage will vanish if we “follow two simple rules: Buy American and hire American.” “Simple” is the right word.

I would call it ‘Ghastly’, as in ‘Make America Ghastly Again’. He is painting America as unwell, or ghastly. His policies though will undermine America and it’s ability to function internally and cooperate with the rest of the world, making us even more ghastly. Our country may approach the level of division and disharmony that we suffered through during the civil war of the 1860’s. We will truly be unwell or ‘Ghastly’. The carnage is about to begin, it is not ending. At the end of his term it might end and we might then set about rebuilding our country, but for now, with all the divisiveness and bad policies of separation and division, there is nowhere to go but down.

America needs to clean house. The feted, rotted stench of decay in our government is getting overpowering.

Buy American and hire American…. words spoken by a man who owns part of 500 companies yet doesn’t make a thing in the US.
And yet the irony seems to be lost.

    • Larry Schmitt January 21st, 2017 at 12:04

Idiots are unfamiliar with either irony or sarcasm. They can’t understand them.

      • BigD January 21st, 2017 at 19:47

So what is the irony or sarcasm with Trump’s made in China crap?

        • Larry Schmitt January 21st, 2017 at 19:56

The irony is that he bitches about merchandise that’s made in China. There was no sarcasm, I was just pointing it out.

    • BigD January 21st, 2017 at 19:46

And his inauguration hats were made in China! His lack of control to strike back at every slight, gives me the creeps. I’m concerned that he will strike back at another country for a silly slight and get us involved in a major war. Young folks need to be concerned that he might need the draft for his wars.

Young folks should start practicing limping -or carry a cup of chocolate pudding in their pants, just in case. Only an idiotic Nazi would possibly even consider fighting for a urine colored SPOTUS who has a 6X COWARD rating. Besides, this is no longer a Republic due to the BETRAYAL by comey and ryan – just a land of phony trumpnomics, which some are describing as Reaganomics (please refer to ACTUAL records) on steroids.

George Will is another asshat I don’t have any patience to listen to.
Anyone who didn’t vote for the Democratic candidate caused this. Period!
So they have no right to complain.

    “deprived of all knowledge.”
What a coincidence, that describes our new “president” too.

Trump’s speech was laden with references to isolationism, nationalism, and a call for loyalty to HIM.
All that was missing was a parade of soldiers marching in goose-step.

But he wants to empower the forgotten people … such as white nationalists, homophobes, and misogynists … and return true power to corporate CEOs, Wall Street heavy hitters, the fossil fuel industries, as well as private education and private-run prison enterprises.

    • JMax January 21st, 2017 at 22:10

Well, you know he asked for troops, tanks, and rocket launchers to follow him on the parade up Pennsylvania Avenue.

maybe the Military advisers thought a coup d’etat would take place if/when the military personnel realize just how many trillions of dollars are going to be raped from them and their families and be placed in republican offshore bank accounts? I think they’d have the support of the majority – much like Lady Clinton does of the voters.

Late at night in the forest in Chapaqua, NY, campers say you can the soft strains of what sounds like a college marching band playing “On Wisconsin” followed by ghostly shrieks of “WHY AREN’T I 50 POINTS AHEAD?”

Note to George Will: you helped bring us Trump.

Before you can distance yourself from Trump, you need to apologize to us liberals.

As usual the trumpster was unspecific ( excluding ISIL ) and this is a man claims he went to the best schools

We deserve the 21 trillion debt

    • granpa.usthai January 22nd, 2017 at 00:52

39 trillion if Reagan’s old crew is put in place.

      • robert January 22nd, 2017 at 07:41

The trumpster can beat that record and has the bankruptcy notes to prove he can do it

      • The Original Just Me January 23rd, 2017 at 02:19

Bankrupt if Cheney was still in.

    • The Original Just Me January 23rd, 2017 at 02:18

No, the Super Smurt Coal Miners do.

      • robert January 23rd, 2017 at 09:24

People looking for work are excluded How about the coal mine owners ?

If our schools left our students “deprived of all knowledge,” how the hell does Twitter continue to exist? Traffic signs are still mostly in words, gubmint forms generally aren’t in pictographs, but we are bringing up kids who have been deprived of the knowledge of how to read? Hell, even Breitbart requires reading.

Thank Gawd we have Ken Ham’s Alternate History Encounter, complete with ark-riding dinosaurs!

    • granpa.usthai January 22nd, 2017 at 01:09

if the ark had two creatures each, and their body functions were normal, the ark would have been full and never floated.

      • bpollen January 22nd, 2017 at 01:22

Yeah, but Gawd is sooooo ingenious, he gave all the animals constipation.

Of course, that resulted in an ark-full of bitchy, miserable animals. That’s why Noah only had three sons… Shem, Ham, and Jaspeth. The 4th son, Nosh, got eaten by T-Rex.

        • The Original Just Me January 23rd, 2017 at 02:17

Bitchy, Miserable Animals, No wonder they never multiplied. :+)

      • The Original Just Me January 23rd, 2017 at 02:16

It was trump’s Ark and YES, it was full of sh!t.

  10. Gina Bousquet January 22nd, 2017 at 09:14

He is the one deprived of All knowledge, as ceaselessly shown throughout the campaign, during the transition and now, in the saddest presidency this country has seen, I dare saying.

  11. ScranunSlim January 22nd, 2017 at 16:56

So Granny Alinsky won and Saul gets a 3RD term?

  12. The Original Just Me January 23rd, 2017 at 02:12

WOW !! Finally, George Will said something that makes sense.
