Trump forks over $25m to settle Trump U lawsuits

Posted by | January 18, 2017 22:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

Easier to pay than go to trial and be exposed as a con man.

The Trump Entrepreneur Initiative, formerly named Trump University, made the payment on Wednesday according to a CNN Money report that cited plaintiffs’ lawyers…

Out of the settlement, $21 million will go to about 7,000 former Trump University enrollees in two California class action lawsuits and the remaining $4 million will cover a case brought against Trump by New York’s attorney general Eric Schneiderman, according to the report. As part of the deal, Trump University did not admit any wrongdoing or fault…

Trump addressed the cases in a campaign video where he said he is “not a settler.”

“I just don’t believe in settling, especially when you’re right,” he said. “Once you settle, everybody sues you.”

The settlement may have been based on the ‘advice’ (read:ultimatum) of the family now ostensibly in control of his fortune. The trial would have been a massive impediment and distraction to his efforts to serve as Chief Executive—as both Bill and Hillary Clinton’s examples in high office have readily shown.

      No…
      You’re wrong.

another mindless empty chamber mouth piece – take a junior college course in simple though process and then come back.

Chapter and verse, please. What specifically do you refer to, and what evidence do you have at hand to support your claim of Clinton conflicts of interest?

Oh, yeah, that family ostensibly in charge of his fortune are his children and an employee. The idea that they gave Der Fuhrer an ultimatum is laughable.

Every time this Cheeto-faced scam artist gets caught in another crime, some right wing conserva-clown has to pull the name “Clinton” out of their most southern orifice. The Clintons have absolutely nothing to do with Trumps many lawsuits and business failings. In fact. The Clinton foundation enjoys an “A” approval rating, but the Trump foundation was shut down by the State of NY because it’s another scam. At the end of the day Trump is still facing legal issues, and likely always will. That will be his undoing as the Bondi payoff investigation is just getting started, as well as Trumps many sexual assault cases. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/01f559d02677c1c428bc68b78075d9ecb248c77d52872c0e4a453c73f1b37fff.jpg

Both Bill and Hillary Clinton gave substantial, effective service to the country despite the years of expensive, ultimately fruitless investigations to which they were subjected. (I voted for both of them in their Presidential campaigns, and with no reservations whatever.)

I’d gladly fork over $25 million…if I had it…for the billions his crew is sure to pocket after a minimum of four years.

    Pocket change.

It was part of the plan from day one.

Don’t admit guilt until it doesn’t matter anymore

The crooked Maggot should have gone to jail instead of the WH.

Will he also pay all the people that he left holding the bag?

This country didn’t used to be “settlers” either. But we have definitely settled in our choice for president. Settled to the very bottom.

Borrowed it from Russian mafia oligarchs?

  8. Roctuna January 19th, 2017 at 07:25

“As part of the deal, Trump University did not admit any wrongdoing or fault…” That’s the part that really sticks in my craw.

  9. Budda January 19th, 2017 at 08:09

My concern/wonder is why did the victims settle?

    • oldfart January 19th, 2017 at 10:55

The lawyers get one third, I’m sure they encouraged the plaintiffs to settle…quickly.

Because, just like every good politician, they prefer a quick buck over justice.

  10. oldfart January 19th, 2017 at 10:53

Settled for pennies on the dollar and admits no guilt.
This is tRumps idea of making America great.
Such is the life and feelings of a cold blooded corporate elitist billionaire.

    • Big Rick Crude January 19th, 2017 at 12:52

Remember after the financial collapse of 2008 when Obama prosecuted the crooked Wall Street bankers? That really sent a strong message to the cold blooded corporate elitist billionaires.

The idea that no bankers went to prison for crimes related to the financial crisis is a myth, according to the watchdog overseeing the federal government’s bailout fund.
There have been 35 bankers sentenced to prison

        • Big Rick Crude January 19th, 2017 at 16:11

Look! I can also copy and paste from the same article:
“Many of the crimes involved relatively small amounts of money at smaller banks, rather than massive fraud at Wall Street banks.”
Your hero Obama didn’t to squat about Wall Street abuse. Just like he kept GITMO open. Kept raiding medicinal marijuana dispensaries. Kept Blackwater on the payroll. Deported more illegals than Bush. Kept the Patriot act and TSA.
But because he was on team blue, he gets a pass.
Face it. He paved the way for guys like Trump.

Um, I just have to but in at this point, Dubba/Cheney did that I believe.

    • CHOCOL8MILK January 20th, 2017 at 01:58

It’s easier for him. Being in court would expose more details that he does not want in the public eye. He will respond with is usual retort: “I settled without admission of guilt and wrongdoing.”
