John Lewis: ‘I don’t see Trump as legitimate’

Posted by | January 13, 2017 15:51 | Filed under: Politics

Rep. John Lewis spoke to Chuck Todd.

In an interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, Lewis says that allegations about Russia’s efforts to influence the 2016 presidential election on Trump’s behalf put a permanent stain on his presidency that cannot be erased.

“I don’t see the president-elect as a legitimate president,” said Lewis, a civil rights icon who was instrumental in organizing the Selma marches in 1965. “I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected, and they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton.”
Lewis went on to say that he does not plan to attend Trump’s inauguration, marking the first one that he has missed since he became a congressman for Georgia’s 5th District in 1987.

Neither do I and millions of Americans agree with me.
Let alone many many millions around the world.
It’s a shame the FBI, the KGB and the KKK elected this buffoon and not the American citizenry.

I hope those “rust belt” folks are starting to feel the pinch….

Mr. Lewis is being kind. I don’t even see the orange molester as human. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/4dda1fffcf131affef506c9ef0a5478a9e5d77d22acfe8bdc6af4a1141c02460.jpg

Given that he was installed by a country with whom we are engaged in (cold) war – I’m pretty sure the majority of patriotic Americans quite agree.

There was plenty of talk about George Bush’s presidency being illegitimate, but I personally thought such talk was irresponsible. But Vladimir Trump isn’t going to be a (real) president of our great country.

Within a day or so Trump will be Tweeting insults at Lewis without even bothering to find out who he is or what he experienced. If he were smart, which he isn’t, Trump would tweet some nice things about Lewis and something about earning his respect. Trust me, that will never enter his mind.

That’s how Obama would handle it. With class.

Democrats should all follow what Rep Lewis is doing. They were briefed today in a classified meeting, they cannot release any of that information. What they can do is say they now know things they are not allowed to say, but Trump is illegitimate as President and Comey is a lying phony. You can put 2 and 2 together. This story needs to be kept alive and well.
Because Trump spent years attacking Obama over a birth certificate. It’s only fair he gets the same treatment now, this time however, the suggestion that he colluded with the Russians to destroy Clintons campaign and to steal the election seems a little bit more serious than a birth certificate.
