That’s 3.5 million new enrollees.

State health officials announced Friday that nearly 3.5 million people have used the NY State of Health exchange in recent weeks to obtain health insurance or enroll in Medicaid — a 22% increase from last year’s enrollment with nearly a month remaining in the current sign up period.

“NY State of Health continues to make it easy to get a good, low-cost health plan, driving down the state’s uninsured rate from 10% in 2013 to 5% in 2015, the lowest rate in decades,” said Donna Frescatore, executive director of New York’s Obamacare exchange.

As of Dec. 24, 2.3 million people used the exchange to enroll in Medicaid and 1.1 million had signed up for some form of insurance, officials reported.
