You couldn’t get away with saying this about any other religion.

Michael “Duke” Lowrie, a firefighter and paramedic, is a Republican running for the Louisiana House of Representatives. He also believes that the United States should boycott businesses owned by or employing Muslims, according to a report in the Shreveport Times.

Lowrie announced his decision to seek election on Thursday, and by Friday afternoon, he was answering for a 2015 Facebook post in which he said that he did not intend to patronize businesses that had anything to do with Islam…

“The fact is the Islamist seek to kill us and make us submit to their false religion and God,” he wrote in a Facebook post from Nov. 15, 2015. “There are many who worship, if you call it that, Islam here among us. I do not believe they deserve peace of our culture or the continued fruits of our society while following this religion. I for one will no longer knowingly go to or do business with any establishment that has someone who I know is a follower of Islam working there.”

Perhaps people should boycott businesses run by or associated with republicans. I bet a boycott by dems, greens, independents, and everyone else not goper would be pretty effective. At least a lot more effective than a goper boycott, they just don’t know how to boycott.

There is a coffee shop by my job that has a sign hanging up saying “Muslims, Syrian refugees, Mexicans and all immigrants welcomed.” I am surprise it hasn’t been ran out of town by the Trump voters!

      • whatthe46

they hide their ignorance long enough to get the coffee and in private complain.

      • Suzanne McFly

I would go there every single day and support a place like that.

        • Tommie

          Me too!

The Muslim religion and god are no more false than the Christian ones. If they let religion dictate everything they do, it usually leads to trouble. I hope this asshole loses so big, he never shows his bigoted face again. But it being Louisiana, he’ll get plenty of votes, I’m sure.

Seems people see that Trump won that way so they figure why not go with that tactic that got Trump elected!

      • Larry Schmitt

And in too many places it works like a charm.

Why does this guy hate capitalism?

In a previous era, similar sentiments were routinely expressed by German nationalists about their Jewish population.

Hillary was right. They are deplorable.

    • bpollen

Some have passed Deplorable, did not collect $200, and went right to “Despicable.”

We need to work on the next term we can use to describe them, they are becoming even worse. I know it would be great if we could continue the “D” theme, but we would run out of words quickly. I propose we start with “A” and go with “Abhorrent”.

I am ready to go to ‘H’, they are ‘Heinous’.

    • Robert M. Snyder

      Who are “they”?

This guy makes ME want to compensate by giving MORE of my business to establishments that are locally-owned or staffed by Muslims. At the same time, I have known lifelong Democrats who frequently used the N word and thought nothing of it.

There are people in both parties who do deplorable things.

Actually, this might benefit all of humanity. If this idiot actually means what he says, he will have to stop using the internet and avoid using a major airline.
Try navigating the web without going through a Cisco router. I double dare ya…

Cisco Systems, Apple, Google, and Oracle have all held iftars, or breaking-the-fast meals for Muslim employees

It was the 13th annual multicultural Ramadan celebration for both Muslim and non-Muslim GE Global Research employees and their families at its Niskayuna, N.Y., campus.
American Airlines’ Fort Worth, Texas, headquarters holds a special dinner organized by its Muslim Business Employee Resource Group every year during or soon after Ramadan, attended by Muslim and non-Muslim employees, said Aftab Siddiqui, a scheduler for American, who retired in 2012 but continues to attend the annual dinners.

It’s estimated that more than 1,000 Muslims in the Puget Sound region work for Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), and for those who closely follow their faith, it can be difficult to participate in the company’s retirement plan.
