Ugly North Carolina power grab

Governor Pat McCrory, who had to be torn from his teddy bear to concede the election, has the support of his Republican legislator for a power grab against his Democratic successor.

Pat McCrory, North Carolina’s outgoing Republican governor, has signed a law stripping executive powers from his successor, Democrat Roy Cooper.

The law removes the State Board of Elections from the governor’s control by reducing the number of members on the board from five — three of whom could be from the governor’s party — to four members, evenly split between the parties.

As we have reported, the change could have ripple effects, since the state body appoints members to county election boards across the state.

Three of North Carolina’s county election boards faced a legal challenge in November after they attempted to revoke the voting rights of thousands of registered voters shortly before Election Day. A federal judge blocked the move.

The new law also increases the power of the state’s appellate court and requires the party affiliations of judicial candidates to be printed on ballots.

The GOP has become so anti-American in its party-before-country stance that it is threatening to destroy our republic.

The GOP isn’t threatening anything, they are destroying our republic. They are doing it knowingly and intentionally so they can remake this country into a theocracy governed by White christians.

Shifting the goal posts during the game — SOP for the Machiavellian GOP.

As is now becoming all too familiar, the Republicans will take power by whatever means possible and not relinquish it even when they lose an election. GET USED TO IT!

Ah, the party of personal responsibility, the party of small government. They have personal responsibility only to The Party and they are the small minded party. What a bunch of deplorable, disgusting clowns, but remember North Cackalackians, you voted these a$$holes in.

Of course he would be a poor loser. Guess when the goobers were manipulating the votes, they forgot about their bigot in chief. Governor Elect Cooper should take the cheats to court immediately. Rev. Barber will continue the protests and keep shining the light on the ignorant rednecks who don’t seem to mind that the country, even many repugs are appalled. My neighbor works at a fortune 500 company and she said they stopped having meetings in NC last year over the bathroom nonsense.

McCrory, the nation thinks you are a little crybaby prissy pussy and you just proved it.
