Dakota Pipeline construction stopped; Route denied

A Sioux leader says the Army Corps of Engineers has seen it their way.

The secretary of the Army Corps of Engineers has told Standing Rock Sioux Chairman David Archambault that the current route for the Dakota Access pipeline will be denied.

The proposed route led to a protest encampment by the Standing Rock Sioux and other activists…

“I am thankful there were some leaders in the federal government that realized something was not right even though it’s legal,” he said. “For the first time in history…they heard our voices. This is something that will go down in history and is a blessing for all indigenous people.

“I heard the Army Corps of Engineers will not grant the easement and they will reroute.

It looks like an environmental impact study will need to be done before the easement can be granted. It looks like for all practical purposes that this route for the pipeline is dead. It would be much more cost efficient to reroute the pipeline than to wait possibly years for a study to be completed, with a chance that it could be denied in the end.

I’m glad they are moving the pipeline. Now it will continue and the Indians will shut up! I hope.

They are going to have to do a study of alternate routes. There will be some delays. It is no longer business as usual. This will probably be a very expensive delay.

Damn those Native Americans and their constant complaining about broken treaties and being removed from their lands, resources stolen and forced into reservations…
Who do they think they are?..
They act like they lived here first.. How dare they~!

Then leave. Give us your holdings. And thanks for giving it back to us.

racist much? it’s their land NOT the U.S. land. and they would appreciate it if you would take your sorry ass back to Europe.

      • fay9169 December 4th, 2016 at 21:26

It is govenment land. And I didn’t come from Europe. I come from America! The land doesn’t belong to the tribe anymore. They have their own land, and do very well there. My grandmother was an indigenous native of this country and I have much appreciation for them all….but they sbould have left well enough alone, as the feds had rerouted the pipeline twice for them already….you don’t know what you’r talking about. You just want to stir the pot, and get off on harassing somebody. I can’t help what boundaries were decided 200 years ago. I wasn’t there. Neither were you.

    Good news for now…
But the New Emperor will be in charge in several weeks..
And in the name of profit for the Great Leader and his Family, the pipeline will go through, Native Americans or not…..
    :(
