School principal dresses as Trump, his secretary as Clinton in prison garb

Posted by | November 3, 2016 11:10 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

This is how we are edumicating our children.

After multiple requests for information from the Staunton City Schools Superintendent, Dr. Linda Reviea, she has provided an additional statement about the principal and secretary of Robert E. Lee High School dressing up as Donald Trump and ‘inmate Hillary Clinton’ respectively.

“It is a longstanding tradition of Staunton City Schools—and of many school divisions across the United States—to allow students and staff to engage in festive activities and dress in costume for Halloween. That said, the particular costumes worn by two employees at R.E. Lee High School were in poor judgment, especially so given the current political climate and the extraordinarily strong sentiments for the 2016 presidential candidates. I became aware of the situation Tuesday night (November 1) and instructed our staff to remove the images in question from Lee High School’s website the following day (November 2). We are handling the situation as a personnel matter and addressing the issue with relevant staff.”

    Robert E. Lee High School…

    • An American in Canada November 3rd, 2016 at 11:28

Should be renamed David Duke High School for under performing arts?

      • oldfart November 3rd, 2016 at 11:54

Ironic that red state effort’s to “dumb down” schools also applied to administration as well.

  2. Jimmy Fleck November 3rd, 2016 at 12:12

Did someone force these people to dress this way? I don’t see the problem here.

    • anothertoothpick November 3rd, 2016 at 12:29

Those two are on the public payroll showing their hate for the democratic nominee.

      Just like James Comey.

      • Jimmy Fleck November 3rd, 2016 at 12:40

So? They are allowed to hate the Democratic nominee and they are allowed to show that hate if they want. President Obama has been saying bad things about Trump while still being on the public payroll. Are you upset about that?

        • anothertoothpick November 3rd, 2016 at 13:04

Did President Obama dress in a prison jump suit and makeup to look like trump?

Or did he just tell the truth about him?

          • Jimmy Fleck November 3rd, 2016 at 13:12

What difference does the form of speech make? They wore some costumes. I don’t see the big deal here at all.

            • Anomaly 100 November 3rd, 2016 at 13:19

School officials are not supposed to make political statements.

              • Jimmy Fleck November 3rd, 2016 at 15:34

                Says who?

                • arc99 November 3rd, 2016 at 15:57

How about the official Staunton City policy statement on appropriate computer use?

                  http://www.staunton.k12.va.us/cms/lib03/VA01000591/Centricity/Domain/11/GAB%20IIBEA%20%200813.pdf

All use of the Division’s computer system must be (1) in support of education and/or
research, or (2) for legitimate school business. Use of the computer system is a privilege, not a right.

                  • Jimmy Fleck November 3rd, 2016 at 15:58

Did they use the computers to make the costumes? That seems way off topic here.

Do you think this principal was out of line too? https://www.wbez.org/shows/wbez-news/chicago-principal-rips-cps-school-budgets-emanuel/25c5dbe4-e788-4f20-a43d-14892879dd40

                    • arc99 November 3rd, 2016 at 16:02

Please drop the straw man bs. No one said they used the computer to make the costumes. They certainly used the computer to post the photos.

As far as your link, I did my due diligence on Staunton. Why not do yours before tossing out unrelated incidents as some sort of rebuttal. If the principal violated a written code of conduct, then yes he was out of line. If he did not violate a written code of conduct, no he is not.

                    • Jimmy Fleck November 3rd, 2016 at 16:18

more principals stepping out of line – wonder why this wasn’t reported here? http://extracredit.blog.palmbeachpost.com/2016/02/16/investigation-after-suncoast-students-perform-at-hillary-clinton-rally/

Go through the comments and see who was ok with it and who was against it.

                    • arc99 November 3rd, 2016 at 16:38

I wonder why people who question the editorial content of this site, never question the decisions made about what right wing website do or do not publish.

This is a leftist website. Of course, there will be a slant in which stories are featured. Head on over to Breitbart and question why it is that the ACORN video produced by that Veritas guy never mentioned the fact that the employee allegedly cooperating with the pimp, contacted law enforcement within 24 hours..

Alan is no more required to be “objective” than his former partner or any right wing website.

                    • Jimmy Fleck November 3rd, 2016 at 16:49

Of course Alan can post whatever he wishes. I just find it funny when the Dems are all in favor of something when it is for them and then rail against it when it is against them. Same for the Reps by the way.

                    • arc99 November 3rd, 2016 at 16:52

To reiterate my opinion, if someone violates a written code of conduct, they should be disciplined, regardless of political leanings. Don’t know how I can make it any more clear.

                    • Jimmy Fleck November 3rd, 2016 at 17:09

I understand that is your opinion. That is not how a lot of people view it in reality. They are more partisan and only care if something is good or bad for their candidate or party.

                    • Margie Bateman Osgood November 3rd, 2016 at 17:33

I am a parent and a Dem and I would feel the same way if it was reversed and the costume was Donald in prison garb. There is no credible reason anywhere that a principal should use this costume in a public school. A principal should ALWAYS appear neutral to his or her students.

                  • Jimmy Fleck November 3rd, 2016 at 16:14

So whoever uploaded the pictures to the school website should be punished for misuse of the computer systems if they feel that publishing a picture of the faculty and staff in their Halloween Costumes was not school oriented. I would be ok with that based on the written policy of computer usage.

                • Anomaly 100 November 3rd, 2016 at 16:46

You’re not very bright. Look at Arc99’s comment and thank him for doing your work for you.

            • anothertoothpick November 3rd, 2016 at 13:20

Jimmy did Obama infer that trump should be locked up?

              Are you not seeing this?

            • Budda November 3rd, 2016 at 13:34

I don’t think you want to see a problem because you agree with this blatant, classless, disrespectable action by a public school official.

        • Red Mann November 3rd, 2016 at 16:51

Not when they are in their public positions. They are representatives of the government and cannot show partisan ship. This is pretty basic stuff. Politicians, by their very nature, are partisan. Of course we have some Rethug politicians calling for HRC to be killed and many libelously calling her a crook who should be in jail, calling for immediate impeachment if she elected and promising 4 years of investigations.
Anything Obama says about tRump is most likely to be true given tRumps vile, despicable behavior.

    • bpollen November 3rd, 2016 at 16:01

They are showing partisan positions within their capacity as educators on the public payroll. But, of course, you find that acceptable.

      • Jimmy Fleck November 3rd, 2016 at 16:12

Yes I find it acceptable that educators are allowed to express their political beliefs. I find it hard to believe you don’t.

        • bpollen November 3rd, 2016 at 16:26

I believe they have that right, but not in their capacity as teachers. Many employers limit that WHILE they are at work, in their capacity as employees. Remember the Hatch Act? I am subject to it, and I too would suffer for engaging in partisan politics at work.

Your free speech rights CAN be curtailed in your capacity as an employee, and even as a condition of your continued employment. Remember Curt Schilling, Jimmy the Greek, Paula Deen, Charlie Sheen, Alec Baldwin, Don Imus, Gilbert Gottfried, Don Yelton… fired one and all for their speech.

          • Jimmy Fleck November 3rd, 2016 at 17:03

all of your examples of people fired were private employees. Private companies should be able to fire anyone they want for whatever reason they want. That is a different topic. Educators are expected to broach topics that challenge students to think.

            • Margie Bateman Osgood November 3rd, 2016 at 17:28

Jimmy Fleck, my mother was a teacher and no, in a political situation, educators should not show their bias in such a manner at school. If a history or government teacher wants to follow the election and teach both candidates equally as a learning tool and let the students reach their own conclusions, that’s fine. Or dress as past historical figures, that is fine too. But for the principal and secretary to dress for Halloween as current candidates in a highly charged election and especially with one in prison garb? No, that can be subject to the Hatch Act as educators ARE government employees and Principals should be held to the highest standards in the school.

              • anothertoothpick November 3rd, 2016 at 17:31

Jimmy wants our schools to be a rush Limbo show.

                • Margie Bateman Osgood November 3rd, 2016 at 17:35

I live about 2 hours from that school and I come from a long line of educators and I am really embarrassed that a principal of a Virginia school would act this way.

            • bpollen November 4th, 2016 at 03:04

Well, so you would be cool with her in black-face and him in a Klan outfit. Challenge the ol’ thinker. Cuz’ that’s what educators do. Dressing up as genitalia, A leather-thonged submissive and his dominatrix.

Yeah, cuz that’s their Job, eh? I pity any progeny of yours…

        • anothertoothpick November 3rd, 2016 at 16:32

Is it acceptable for educators to support “grab ’em by the pu$$y” candidate?

          • Jimmy Fleck November 3rd, 2016 at 16:46

Now you suggest that there is a political “test” when trying to get a job as a public educator? I would never presume to tell someone who they are “allowed” to support. Wow.

            • anothertoothpick November 3rd, 2016 at 17:28

Do you think the educators should support the KKK supported candidate?

If you walked into a school your kids attended andeducators were in white sheets would you be happy?

              • Jimmy Fleck November 3rd, 2016 at 17:50

Do I think they should? No. But if they want to support Hillary and Senator Byrd then that is their right I suppose.

            • Margie Bateman Osgood November 3rd, 2016 at 17:38

They can support anyone they want, outside of their job, no one is telling them who to support, but principals are supposed to be neutral when it comes to the students. They shouldn’t flaunt their political, religious, or racial biases or preferences in public school. All students should feel that he or she is there for them.

  3. Snick1946 November 3rd, 2016 at 12:18

Again, for the umpteenth time… will whomever is responsible to posting stories to this forum please take an additional moment when doing so to add something that clearly identifies the LOCATION of the event featured in the story? ‘Staunton”? Where is that?? The TV station site story linked to doesn’t give a clue either, I had to do a web search of the stations call letters before I knew it was in VA.

Seems a no brainer to me.

    • anothertoothpick November 3rd, 2016 at 12:31

      web searches are hard huh?

      • Snick1946 November 3rd, 2016 at 15:17

No but why not spare readers the trouble. Not a big deal but it would be appreciated by some of us.

If you ever read the book “Atlas Shrugged” you will learn that helping others only makes them weak, and reliant on the goodness others.

We aren’t doing that around here any more.

Do your homework and be thankful that you get are not having to accept welfare..

          • Gina Bousquet November 3rd, 2016 at 17:16

            OUCH! :)

            • anothertoothpick November 3rd, 2016 at 17:57

Hi Gina! How are you today?

Did you go outside and collect butterflies while smoking cigarettes?

Maybe you practiced playing your grand piano while watching Fellini movies?

Or maybe you cooked some sugar cookies and dunked them in your delicious, rich, black coffee?

              HAHAHAHAHAHAH.

I always wonder what you are up to Gina.

              • Gina Bousquet November 3rd, 2016 at 18:57

I just gotta love that rich fantasy you have about my life, it makes up wonderful comments! :) If only I lived that delicious life you picture for me in the tropics! Two things true, I love to bake and to watch Fellini movies. Also, I once smoked, long ago… What about you dear friend, what are you up to? Besides the election I mean…

                • anothertoothpick November 3rd, 2016 at 19:27

                  HAHAHAHAHAHAH.

Whenever I want to take a break worrying about all the problems of the world I think about you Gina.

Perfume, long cigarette holders, expensive hair brushes
And lobster tails soaked in lemon butter sauce with sugar cookies for desert.

                  HAHAHAHAHAHAH.

Even though I know that stuff is not really you, I can dream can’t I

Anyway I am watching a documentary called “teenager”.

It is basically about the youth of the world.

It spans from WW I where the term teenager was first coined,. Young kids being sent to fight in France and working in factories with no labor laws.

German Hitler youth which started out as a volunteer exciting journey that turned into a mandatory main stream nightmare.

You know, that kind of stuff.

                  Don’t ever change Gina.

                  HAHAHAHAHAHAH

                  Luv ya

They are in the Virginia. The capital of the Confederacy.

They more than likely will receive Good Conduct Medals.

Yeah, the name of the school suits this set of morons perfectly.

  7. Mensa Member November 3rd, 2016 at 23:47

So, the principal thought it was wise to dress as an alleged sex abuser?

Did he walk into the girls’ locker room and declare, “Nothing I haven’t seen before!”

  8. Gary Parillo November 4th, 2016 at 00:11

Actually the principle does resemble Trump quite a bit.Poor guy.

And the secretary pulls off the jump suit quite nicely!
