Bill Ayers: Snowden deserves the Congressional Medal of Freedom

Posted by | October 27, 2016 09:47 | Filed under: Politics Radio Interviews

Activist, educator and author Bill Ayers was on my radio show Wednesday night discussing his new book Demand the Impossible.  This is his “radical manifesto” for dealing with issues like health care and policing communities safely and correctly.

Ayers told me that even in the final days of his presidency, President Obama will be able to get things done and he has governed more effectively from the center than people think. Ayers said he is probably voting for Hillary Clinton, but is considering Dr. Jill Stein as well, that Edward Snowden should be considered for pardon or “the Congressional Medal for Freedom,” and why the Pentagon should be eliminated entirely.

Brave whistle-blowers are essential warriors against government over reach and abuse.

Yet, supposedly “anti-government” conservatives want Snowden shot.

You have to protect them all, not just the ones you like.

He chose to flee the country and not face the fire.
Cowards do not deserve the Congressional Medal for Freedom.
He’ll get and deserves a fair hearing.

Do you listen to Democracy Now? They have run several stories about the US Government coming down on whistle blowers like a sledgehammer. Whistle blowers that were minor compared to Snowden.

        You’re entitled to your opinion.
        I’m sticking to mine.
Are you familiar with the pentagon papers incident ?
Nixon was president…he was spitting blood when he found out what happened. It took guts, balls and nerves of steel to face that.
Snowden was a weenie compared to those folks…and where exactly did he run to ?

I think Putin has already given Ed his reward. I don’t see why Ed should be given the hero’s welcome should he return but good security wouldn’t be a bad idea

      Why the hostility?

Snowden let us know about a serious abuse of our civil rights.
