How low can Trump go in the polls?

Posted by | October 18, 2016 08:23 | Filed under: Politics

Not a good question for a presidential candidate to have to ask.

In matchups that include third-party candidates, Trump is winning, on average, 39.6 percent of the vote compared to 46.2 percent for Hillary Clinton in the dozen national polls using live-telephone interviewers conducted since September 26.

For much of the presidential campaign, the focus has been on Trump’s apparent ceiling: He has been unable to grow his coalition to the extent necessary to claim the lead over Clinton.

Now, though, after weeks of negative news coverage after Trump’s poor performance in the first debate, the tape of his sexually aggressive remarks leaked earlier this month and reports from a number of women claiming he sexually assaulted or harassed them, it’s also clear Trump has a floor of about 40 percent of the electorate.

It amazes me that 4 out of 10 voters can actually think that idiot is qualified for any office.

    • Larry Schmitt October 18th, 2016 at 08:47

This is definitely not the usual campaign. Things that would disqualify earlier candidates just give him more free publicity. Gary Hart merely went on a boat for a weekend, and had to drop out. The real question isn’t how low can he go in the polls, but how low can he go, period? He hasn’t hit bottom yet. There’s something even worse coming up.

as long as it’s crawling with maggots, it will be well appreciated by the entire world.

eventually, all good dreams come true!

beyond amazing I’d say. How sad that 40% must be in their daily lives.

      • Larry Schmitt October 18th, 2016 at 09:18

It’s too bad we can’t show them what a Trump presidency would be really like. Where’s a holodeck when you need one?

        • Kick Frenzy October 18th, 2016 at 11:36

Just replace President Comacho in Idiocracy with Biff Tannen from Back To The Future 2 and there you go.

          • Larry Schmitt October 18th, 2016 at 11:56

Biff’s definitely the right kind of bully for the job.

            • Kick Frenzy October 18th, 2016 at 22:28

Hell, his part in Part 2 is based on Trump!

            Thats a wonderful cult classic..
It failed at the box office, but was gold on video, still makin money..
            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGUNPMPrxvA
Shades of Donald Trump long before he was running..

            • Kick Frenzy October 18th, 2016 at 22:33

Big difference here, at least President Comacho was able to say someone else was smarter than him. ;)

(Although, the audience sure seemed like Trump supporters!!!)
(And yes, that movie is a classic… but as Etan Cohen (screenwriter) said, it wasn’t supposed to be a damn documentary!)

  2. Larry Schmitt October 18th, 2016 at 08:53

The story contains this sentence: “Republicans could come back to Trump before Election Day if he manages to return to an even keel.”
Return? When was he ever on an even keel? He’s been flat out wacko since this merry-go-round started.

    • StoneyCurtisll October 18th, 2016 at 17:01

      Well…
Trump did read off a teleprompter once or twice and didn’t go off scrip…(even keel?)
But he cant read what to do or how to react to a crisis, (if elected) by reading a teleprompter.

    It’s because it’s rigged. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/672bce68b09f7cefb43d84c0afc8971dd2d6d407b90190a475aaf92660dd40c7.jpg

Trump adamantly insisted that the primaries were rigged.

      And then he won.

Clearly, it’s we Dems who need to closely watch this election.

    • whatthe46 October 19th, 2016 at 06:46

the Emmy’s suck. it’s stupid. i should have won. it’s rigged. yep that’s tRump.

  4. Mensa Member October 18th, 2016 at 09:43

It’s hard to measure the goodness of a country but these polls are putting a hard number on it.

  5. Tommie October 18th, 2016 at 10:05

After kissing that Black child on stage, his numbers among minorities and racist should go down!

    • granpa.usthai October 18th, 2016 at 13:52

caught that, but his numbers are stuck with the number of deplorables that are incapable of thinking for themselves.

It must be MASS OBEDIENCE to one COWARD by SWORN SUPPORT.

it’s kinda like the mounds/joy commercial where:

sometimes you feel like a NUTZI !

  6. Jungle_Bhoy October 18th, 2016 at 10:22

As usual, Democrats are underestimating their opponent and setting themselves up for a fall. Do we never learn?

    • arc99 October 18th, 2016 at 13:39

Given that the Democratic candidate has won the popular vote in 5 of the last 6 presidential elections, I daresay we have learned quite well.

    • Clementine October 19th, 2016 at 06:39

As President Romney would say………….. oh! Wait! LOL Important though, there is something to be said about not losing sight of the fact that everyone must still go out and vote to make it all real. He only goes away when we all go to the voting booths.

to back up my synopsis of donald’s bowling pin physique: compare chest and head areas to the waistline/big fat ass area. Now, in your mind, stand the figure in the picture up and calculate a 40% drop in the chest area. Paint it ALL WHITE except for a (cut here) thin black line around the neck and …

Not exactly the most PC toy they used to make…
In Trumpland, PC is verboten, insulting and disrespecting people is acceptable again.

      • Clementine October 19th, 2016 at 06:36

Yes! Yes! I can see your vision! :-)

      Either he has Parkinson’s..
Or he is the one that needs to be tested for drugs before the next debate..

  9. jybarz October 18th, 2016 at 13:47

His micropenis should be rubbing the floor…that’s how low he should be now.

I can’t believe I’m waiting for my “lower than whale T*rd” comment to get approval…

    • Clementine October 19th, 2016 at 06:35

:-) It’s there now (I didn’t know you couldn’t say WHALE on here! LOL ) , and I upvoted it. That makes for double approval.

The election is within 4% only to find out it will be a unanimous victory for Hillary

The network’s make more money by saying it’s a close race until election day
