McCain: We’ll block ‘any’ Clinton Supreme Court nominee

Posted by | October 17, 2016 14:06 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

This is not how our government is supposed to work.

“I promise you that we will be united against any Supreme Court nominee that Hillary Clinton, if she were president, would put up,” McCain said on WPHT Philadelphia radio in an interview first flagged by CNN. “I promise you. This is where we need the majority.”

…Though McCain rescinded his endorsement of Donald Trump over a leaked video in which the Republican nominee bragged about predatory behavior towards women and has vocally criticized his “outrageous statements,” the Arizona senator told WPHT that he was unsure if Trump or Clinton would select better justices for the Supreme Court,

“I don’t know, because I hear him saying a lot of different things,” McCain said.

Translation: The GOP has already conceded the election and is now concentrating on blocking every thing the president tries to do, just like they have for the last 8 years https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/6a036b51a47f6859aeaaf6336d947c643e67caae58f8c5e6443e42676db50936.jpg

The bastards were commited to considering the next President’s nominee…

      • KABoink_after_wingnut_hacker October 17th, 2016 at 18:29

        Indeed.
        The “lying” bastards…

        • Gina Bousquet October 17th, 2016 at 19:11

          Yeah, the fcking unscrupulous bastards.

  2. eyelashviper October 17th, 2016 at 14:38

In other words, we will continue the last eight years of temper tantruming, and refusing to govern, cause we lost.

    • Arlene October 18th, 2016 at 12:04

Not if we can vote them out this time. A lot of people have the mindset that the only election that counts is the presidency. Down ballot is just as important.

  3. oldfart October 17th, 2016 at 14:42

What makes you think the Senate will be yours to control ?
Retire John while you still have the senses god gave you
and the FIVE house you own.

  4. mea_mark October 17th, 2016 at 14:44

Our government is broken. I am beginning to wonder if it even can be fixed. A coup or revolution may become necessary to get things right. Gerrymandering and near unlimited money in politics has ruined our particular form of government.

    • Larry Schmitt October 17th, 2016 at 15:01

Your last sentence speaks volumes. Since the court ruled that money is speech, and corporations are people, the control of the government has been ceded to large corporations and wealthy individuals. And the only way to fix it may be to blow it up and start over.

      • crc3 October 17th, 2016 at 16:36

Yeah…blow it up with those same people in the middle!!

      • anothertoothpick October 17th, 2016 at 16:40

The last time we “blew it up” we ended up with the T BAGGERS.

        • Larry Schmitt October 17th, 2016 at 17:32

That was an infiltration. The system stayed essentially the same, just the players changed.

  5. Foundryman October 17th, 2016 at 15:27

If democrats aren’t hearing what these far right wing loony toons are saying and use it as a rallying point to vote in record numbers…we will all deserve the government we get.

To pass over this by saying things like, “Oh, the government is broken” or “Oh we need a revolution” or “Oh, it’s not us, it’s them” and then stay home or pretend you’re doing something about it by voting third party is the reason why we are where we are right now!

    • mea_mark October 17th, 2016 at 16:45

If more of us were voting third party we wouldn’t be where we are now. It is this idea that we have to vote for one of the two that is dooming us.

      • Kick Frenzy October 17th, 2016 at 17:18

While you have a point, this time around the most likely third party choices are just as crappy as the main party choices.

I wonder if we could convince all the Republicans to write in Bernie… lol

        • mea_mark October 17th, 2016 at 17:21

I know some hard core republicans that would be happy if we had Obama for four more years, rather than the top two choices we have now. That’s how bad it is.

    • Arlene October 17th, 2016 at 20:44

The down ballots are more important now!

  6. muffler October 17th, 2016 at 15:34

Amazing…. so it isn’t about Obama it’s “lame duck” forever. Vote Democratic down ballot.

  7. alpacadaddy October 17th, 2016 at 16:02

Gee Senator, what happened to your “We must let the people decide” argument? And while we’re at it, what happened to that oath you took so long ago, while swearing on your Good Book that you would uphold the tenets of the US Constitution, instead of just those that further your party?

Was that all just BS Senator?

    You make me sick!

    • ohpaleasegivemeabreak October 17th, 2016 at 16:05

      Someone needs to smack him.

      • alpacadaddy October 17th, 2016 at 16:08

Yeah, and I hope it’s the voters of AZ, who send him into obscurity at one of his many tax-payer funded homes!

      • granpa.usthai October 17th, 2016 at 19:50

donald already has, but McCain has doubled around for another!

  8. BillTheCat50 October 17th, 2016 at 16:24

Then we will change the Senate rules. Your choice you senile crank.

  9. crc3 October 17th, 2016 at 16:32

McCain will be highly disappointed if the Democrats take over all of Congress. Then Clinton can nominate anyone she wants to without any obstruction from the Repulsives.

    BTW McCain STFU!!

  10. pinballsdoll October 17th, 2016 at 17:38

Good job you POS…you don’t know WHO it is, or anything about any nominee. You just know because you didn’t get your way with the election, you will block anybody she nominates. And I assume if trump got elected, you would automatically be OK with them. You’re proving exactly whats wrong with our government

    • The Original Just Me October 18th, 2016 at 00:11

      Time to pasteurize McCain.

  11. Suzanne McFly October 17th, 2016 at 18:35

And that is the attitude that killed your party John, hang onto that idea tightly and let it take your party down that much quicker.

  12. Mike N. October 17th, 2016 at 19:01

    He’s already walking it back:

    A united minority YAWN

  14. Hirightnow October 17th, 2016 at 19:50

Senator McCain, do you think it might be time for you to retire?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyQ2i98wl9w

  15. granpa.usthai October 17th, 2016 at 19:52

then I guess the ONLY option US Citizens have in order for their ‘by the people’ government to continue to be a success is go for a DEMOCRAT House and Senate along with POTUS Hillary. It’s the only thing that makes any sense at this point.

  16. Arlene October 17th, 2016 at 20:41

Why do we have to continue payin these people that refuse to do their job?

    • Ancient Avian Anomaly October 17th, 2016 at 22:01

They are doing their jobs, which is to ensure that the corporate agenda is carried out. The Citizens United ruling is an essential part of that agenda, and any SCOTUS nominee from Hillary Clinton would almost certainly would vote to overturn that horrendous ruling. McCain is telling us why Donald Trump has to continue being a private citizen. Thanks, Senator McCain, you mavericky devil, you.

  17. Jungle_Bhoy October 17th, 2016 at 21:07

Wow – he’s going to deprive us of his brilliant judgement like when he dumped Sarah Palin on an unsuspecting electorate or when he urged us to fund his friends in ISIS – oh John what will we do without your insights?

  18. The Original Just Me October 18th, 2016 at 00:09

I used to respect McCain but I think He needs to be put out to pasture.

  19. fahvel October 18th, 2016 at 04:03

this is one old man who needs to find a rocker and a comic book and go away.

  20. Warman1138 October 18th, 2016 at 13:18

All that self-inflicted butt hurt over the years has got to itch like hell by now.
