Obama: I don’t ‘bleed’ Democrat

Posted by | September 14, 2016 09:55 | Filed under: Politics

President Obama says he doesn’t always agree with Democrats, even though he is the head of the party.

“Look, I recognize I am the head of the Democratic Party and that necessarily makes me a partisan,” he said at a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) fundraiser in New York City on Tuesday night.

“But I’m not actually someone who bleeds Democrats. I think back to 2008, and I meant what I said. I don’t think any party traditionally has a monopoly on what’s right.”
Obama then cited past examples of bipartisan cooperation as proof that lawmakers can break gridlock in Washington, D.C.

“I come from the land of [former President Abraham] Lincoln,” he said. “[Former President] Richard Nixon set up the EPA.

“The Civil Rights Act was passed by [former President] Lyndon Johnson, but also [had] a whole bunch of Republican votes. So it’s not inevitable that this is what we deal with, but it is what’s going on right now.”

    Obama puts America before party.

That is one of the reasons I voted for him the first time. I thought such a president would help unify the country after the horribly divisive Bush years.

    Man was I wrong.

I very seriously doubt that America will ever be fully united…hasn’t been yet, but that’s the whole foundation of our constitution. You don’t have to be in agreement with the rest -and supposedly without fear of any government repercussions (as long as you’re within the legal parameters). Something the GOP has become increasingly against.

        I agree!

Full unity has never happened and never will.

But are you old enough to remember when there were Republicans who didn’t block American progress just because a Democrat supports it?

        I am.

Take Gerald Ford, for example. I didn’t like him. But he was able to work with people.

Wow, if you think he failed in his “no red state and blue state but the United States” then your idol’s “Deplorables ” will definitely be not unifying and, Man, you’ll be wrong again.

I wish he were more partisan. Then we’d have the Bush Administration in jail for war crimes and crimes against humanity, and we’d have single payer healthcare.
    .
Democrats are a bit more “forgiving” (although I prefer the term “sackless”). The GOP went after Clinton for lying about a BJ, but the democrats always give the republicans a pass – on almost everything. Like war crimes.

Obama is a statesman in a sea of almost comic political hacks

To quote Jesse Ventura – “I ain’t got time to bleed!”
