NC to arrest clown costume-wearers on-the-spot

If you’re going around North Carolina in a clown costume, you’re going to be arrested.

The latest incident involving a clown allegedly occurred on Tuesday morning, when police say a man wearing a “scary clown mask” and “red curly wig” disappeared into the woods after being chased by another man wielding a machete in the Greensboro, North Carolina area.

A “local witness reported that a person wearing a scary clown mask, red curly wig, yellow dotted shirt, blue clown pants and clown shoes exited the woods,” behind an apartment complex, Greensboro police said in a statement.

“Upon seeing the clown, another witness — an adult male — ran after it yielding a machete. The clown ran back into the woods and disappeared from view.”

Officers searched the area for the dressed-up individual but were unable to find anyone matching that description.

Local police warned residents “although it is lawful to dress as a clown, given the heightened tensions about these entertainers, officials are discouraging ‘copycat’ behaviour by individuals who may find it humorous to mimic suspicious behaviour.”

…Local police warned that anyone dressed up as a clown will be arrested and charged.

“It’s illegal. It’s dangerous. It’s inappropriate, and it’s creating community concern so it needs to stop,” Greenville Police Chief Ken Miller said at a news conference on September 1.

It’s illegal? They just finished saying “…although it is lawful to dress as a clown…” And nothing about going after the guy with a machete? I’m pretty sure that actually is illegal. Does this kind of crazy sh*t only happen in North Carolina, or is the whole world going nuts?

“…is the whole world going nuts?”

At a minimum, America is…Rump’s candidacy s proof of that.

“Local police warned that anyone dressed up as a clown will be arrested and charged.”
Oh fun. Just WHAT charge are they going to hold them on?
I wonder if they realize just how much this ham-handed effort at populace control can cost them personally and as a township. That statement alone screams of prior restraint, and here in the US of A we don’t do for no prior restraint, sorry.

“Just WHAT charge are they going to hold them on?” Impersonating a Republican presidential candidate?

        hahahahahahahaaa

The Wapo article says “that anyone dressed like a clown and terrorizing residents will face arrest.”
Presumably the charge would be terrorism.

So what happened to the guy with the machete.

    Was he a Mexican?

    • Larry Schmitt September 8th, 2016 at 12:36

That looks like the kind of American International movie they used to show at the drive ins when I was a kid. Double feature, with a cartoon. One dollar for the whole carload. They made their money at the snack bar, obviously.

We have genre-loving filmmakers Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez to thank for bringing grindhouse cinema to the mainstream. Their collaborative double feature, Grindhouse, has since spawned two full-length films based on the fake trailers in the movie: Machete and Hobo with a Shotgun.

        • Larry Schmitt September 8th, 2016 at 12:43

Machete has to be the only movie with Robert de Niro, Steven Seagal, Cheech Marin and Don Johnson in it. And where would they show that poster?

          • anothertoothpick September 8th, 2016 at 12:53

Art work on a DVD cover maybe?

Or the usual movie marquees at the cinema.

            • Larry Schmitt September 8th, 2016 at 13:41

Reason I asked is, it has “that word” on it. Never seen that on a movie poster before.

              • anothertoothpick September 8th, 2016 at 14:51

Yeah, I guess I am so numbed to that word I didn’t even think of that.

      Loved that movie and Danny

I pity they guy who just happens to be going to a kids party as a clown. This would be like Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor in Stir Crazy, being arrested just for wearing chicken suits at a bank promotion, after two guys in the same chicken suits robbed the bank. What we need now is a mass clown protest. Overwhelm the cops.

    • whatthe46 September 8th, 2016 at 12:53

I agree. And remind me, what’s illegal, being silly?

      • Larry Schmitt September 8th, 2016 at 13:35

If that were the case, we all would have been locked up long ago.

    • Leannie September 8th, 2016 at 15:02

I heard on the news this morning that actual clowns are calling the police ahead of time telling them the make and model of their car and where they are going…they are afraid of vigilantes.

  5. alpacadaddy September 8th, 2016 at 16:04

What about that foul-mouthed orange clown with tiny hands, wearing an orangutan butt-hair wig, who’s been flying around the country for the last year in his own private circus jet and polluting the air waves with his hateful bile, can we arrest him?

    • Foundryman September 8th, 2016 at 16:43

That reminds me… the democrats need to start throwing some personal insults at Donnie again. He gets all worked up and frazzled he forgets about everything else.

      • amersham1046 September 8th, 2016 at 19:55

Not at Donnie, he wouldn’t notice , start hammering Junior and Eric everything they open their traps, that will sent papa right off the rails

  6. Snick1946 September 8th, 2016 at 16:17

    Arrested and charged…with what?

  7. Foundryman September 8th, 2016 at 16:40

Explains why Trump won’t go to NC…

  8. spacegod September 8th, 2016 at 21:15

NC has anti-clown laws? Emmett Kelly is spinning in his six-feet-under clown car.
