White Indiana man says he shot at black man to stop him from being hit by car

Apparently, a bullet is safer than a car.

Brian Oedzes, of Dyer, was charged last week with a hate crime and aggravated discharge of a firearm in connection with the Aug. 22 incident in Flossmoor, Illinois, reported the Chicago Tribune.

Witnesses said the victim was walking late that evening when he encountered Oedzes, who they said shouted a racial slur and pointed a gun at the black man.

“You need to get the f*ck out of here, you don’t belong here,” Oedzes told the man, according to the police report.

He then fired a gunshot toward the black man as he ran away with his hands in the air, witnesses told police.

The 44-year-old Oedzes, however, denied using racial slurs and said he was trying to help the “extraordinarily intoxicated” man avoid being hit by a vehicle as he walked in the street.

“I wanted to make sure he got out of the street and didn’t get hurt,” Oedzes told the Tribune. “Unfortunately, he approached us.”

    The pedestrian was lucky, if he was in real peril , Oedzes would have to kill him to protect him

    The “tell” that shows Oedzes is lying are the words, ““You need to get the f*ck out of here, you don’t belong here.” He wasn’t really concerned about the man getting hit by a car, he was more concerned that he was black and in the neighborhood where his business is located.

            got it. heh. i have heard a lot of excuses and reasons for all sorts of misbehavior, and “I did it to get away from HER” is more common than you might think, but “I shot at him out of the kindness of my heart” is new to me. judge prolly got quite a kick out of it.

    Hmmm.
    Now that’s interesting, and a personal first for me.
    Until now, I do not think there was ever an occasion when I wanted to sit on a jury in Illinois.
    Bu-ut, if the authorities are tuning in, I want them to know I am not only prepared, but am eager to do my civic duty if called upon….
