Woman gives birth after not knowing she was pregnant
Calvin and Brooke Williams walked through the doors at Utah Valley Hospital on Sunday with just two members of their family.
They will be walking out with three later this week.
It all started Sunday morning when Brooke suffered seizures. The couple rushed to the hospital only to find out what triggered them was the biggest surprise of their lives.
“I just honestly stared at her and didn’t know,” Calvin Williams said.
The first moments of fatherhood were a complete blur for the 27-year-old man.
“Just a whirlwind,” Williams said. “It’s been crazy. I’ve had every emotion, really.”
The new father said when he brought his wife to the hospital after she had several seizures Sunday, doctors were baffled.
“So they did blood work. The guy came back and said … ‘This level is common with someone who is pregnant,’” Williams said.

believe it or not, this has happened before. for starters, she’s not a small woman, so any weight that she put on may have seemed normal to her.

Oh I know it’s not that uncommon, but astounding that all the other changes of pregnancy are explained by putting weight… :)

what i always find amazing about these stories is that they will go full term w/o knowing, and you think to yourself, didn’t this baby kick around? my cousin’s wife gave birth at home when she was about 7 months pregnant. she didn’t know either. he was home with her and she started having pains and he ended up delivering a baby. funny because, my cousin, their son, said when he came home he heard a baby crying and was in total shock. the baby stayed in the hospital for about a month. really tiny. they named her Hope. she’s 25 now and about 4′ 9″.

The baby sure kicked, the weird thing is the mother was impervious to that… I’m glad everything turned out ok for Hope! :)

I guess there must be these odd situations then. I don’t know how anyone can not know they are pregnant. I knew the day after I missed my period. My breasts became so sore they hurt when I walked! Within a few more weeks I was so nauseous I wanted to die.
That was the easy part. I am a DES daughter so the rest of my story was not pleasant. The end result, a true miracle that our son was born. Not one moment along the way was it possible to not know I was preggers. :)

i knew it too when i missed my cycle. i was so stupid happy. every time while dressing i would look down to see my feet. it was exciting to see that, slowly but surely, they were disappearing as my belly grew. some women who have sporadic periods and so missing one here or there and to have them start and stop, even while pregnant isn’t unheard of. but again, it’s still amazing that they don’t feel the baby kicking. i don’t know.

I remember when I was hospitalized for a month before our son was born and trying to sleep at night. His feet were in my ribs and he kicked a lot at night.

I never saw, just felt it. I and the doctors were doing everything possible to keep him in since about eight weeks into my pregnancy when they thought I had miscarried. Bed rest, a pessary I could not tolerate, then cervix stitched closed, drugs to stop premature labor, and hospitalization. It was the stitches that saved him, called McDonald sutures. My pregnancy went into medical books.

WOW! glad he made! my cousin’s (not the one i posted about earlier but his brother) wife had 2 miscarriages. it was with the 3rd pregnancy that they did the same thing to her.

That is/was the protocol back when I had my son. The doctors were supposed to see a miscarriage in a DES daughter before they took extraordinary measures. My doctor was the head of OB/GYN of the hospital at the time and like one of the interns told me, “he was God.” You did what he said.
They broke protocol and did the sutures and started using the drug and so on.
The night they thought I’d had the miscarriage he was in CA for a conference. They had scheduled me for a D&C the next morning. He yelled at them on the phone forever “she is a DES daughter. She could have complications and not have had a miscarriage. Do an ultrasound in the morning.”
Sure enough there was the heartbeat. I would have had an abortion and never known. He saved our son that night for the first time of many times.

We were very lucky to have found him. It was a fluke. A girl I worked with went to him and I needed to find one so I went to him. He was the nicest man. This story would have ended very differently had I not had him for my doctor.

I don’t know anything. I’ve heard these types of stories before but they do not make sense to me. Let’s just say they are very hard to believe, especially after having gone through a very difficult pregnancy myself.

who are you telling. we have a really big family and we’re always excited when a new baby will be joining, everyone was in shock. her youngest son at the time was 12 or 13 and the oldest 24 or 25 he was in his own home by this time, but the other 3 siblings were still living in the home. so, yeah.
