Contact lenses that dispense drugs

This could be quite helpful to glaucoma sufferers.

Researchers say that the lens, which is designed to deliver medication gradually, may improve the treatment of patients who struggle with eye drops, which can be imprecise and difficult to self-administer.

It is estimated that more than 500,000 people in England and Wales have glaucoma, a build-up of pressure on the eye, but many more people may suffer from the condition without having been diagnosed.

Hillary Clinton wants to know if the contacts come in Diazapam?

Not nearly as funny as the time when you were telling your Red Eye Radio audience about what a great band Styx was….

        Styx!

I had completely forgotten about that band.

I remember hating them. It was bands like Styx which made me become a punk rock fan.

Afraid it’ll cut into your supply? How’s your supply of Clozapine?

Waywayway back in the day I knew a guy who got a bottle of liquid acid who would put a drop in his eye. He said the trip would start right away.

Glaucoma – ok, I guess I can see that,, but it would not surprise me if the medical industry did not go overboard with this so in the future I won’t be able to swallow various pills but will have to stick them in my eye!
In my view, that would not be progress.

well, it doesn’t make sense to me in any case. if you already wear contacts for vision, like i do, i’m certainly not going to put something in my eye that will interrupt my vision for any length of time. i even sleep with mine so that i can see when i wake up. besides, what if you’re have an allergic reaction to the chemicals and it cause blindness even if temporary. no thank you, swallow liquid or pills and leave well enough alone.

    Brilliant idea.

There are a lot of variables with delayed release pills. And contact lenses aren’t nearly as expensive as they used to be.

But contact lenses certainly aren’t for everybody. They can be a real nuisance to wear.
