Biden: Gitmo likely to close before end of term

Vice President Joe Biden says the prison at Guantanamo Bay will likely close before the end of President Obama’s term.

“That is my hope and expectation,” he told a news conference in Sweden.

The White House has been trying to close the facility since Obama took office but has been stymied by opposition in Congress.

    Gitmo close while Obama is still president?….
    Not likely, if the fear mongering, hate filled, right wing freakout machine has anything to do with it…
    I wish Biden was right.

    Obama could have closed Gitmo on day one. All he had to do was release all of the prisoners. Not saying this would have been a wise choice, but to say the Republicans are blocking him from closing the place is just not true.

      If you’d bother to check the Congressional record, you’ll find that it is true.
      We’re talking orderly and legal emptying here.
