Man arrested for impersonating Jesus

Posted by | August 19, 2016 13:22 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Religion

If you don’t want to get arrested, don’t walk around with a giant cross on your back.

Artist and filmmaker Ilya Novikov, 23, was behind the stunt in the city of Perm in central Russia’s Perm Krai region.

But he was accused of blasphemy by local church leaders and fell foul of police for being a potential traffic hazard.

That’s jesus with the help of some very nice hair products.

This is what he looks like when he is not bearing the cross.

A stunt? Is it cause for arrest?

    • anothertoothpick August 19th, 2016 at 13:47

      HI Gina!

I Missed you for a while there. Have you been busy? Did you get a job at the Olympics or something.

I wanted to tell you I watched the Womens bike race.

The thing about watching the bike race is it gives you a chance to see some of Rio. 85 miles racing and half of it along the beach and the other half uphill in the jungle.

      Breathtaking scenery.

      • Gina Bousquet August 19th, 2016 at 14:13

Yes dear, we do have breathtaking sceneries, it’s a beautiful town! You missed me here because we had a loss in the family. Dad died after 13 days in the ICU, I was very shocked with the suddenness of it all and the family dedicated all spare time to stay with him in his final moments.

        • anothertoothpick August 19th, 2016 at 14:15

OH….I am so sorry to hear that.

How old was your dad, Gina, and what happened to him?

I knew something was wrong when I did not see you posting lately.

          • Gina Bousquet August 19th, 2016 at 16:09

He was very old, could not fight an infection that no antibiotics were able to defeat. It was a terrible situation.

            • anothertoothpick August 19th, 2016 at 16:34

I am saddened for your loss, my good friend Gina.

I too know the incredible feeling of losing a parent, my ma and dad are both gone a long time now.

It was kind of an emptiness feeling.

But Gina, we still got you and you are strong.

And your dad will never be gone in your heart.

              Which means he lives forever.

Anyway that’s how I look at it.

              • Gina Bousquet August 19th, 2016 at 17:05

Yes, dear friend, he left such emptiness in the house… but he’ll be living in my heart. And I’ll have to be very strong really to face the changes in the country, we’re living a severe economic crisis. I’m lucky to count with a loving, supportive family and dear friends on the nets. :) Thank you anothertoothpick!

I am so sorry Gina, you are a great daughter for spending time with him. Hospital rooms can be the loneliest places in the world, even when the patient “seems” to not know who is there. I will share this so you understand where I am coming from. I was in a coma and they were not sure if I was going to make it, and if I did, they thought my brain injury would be bad enough so I didn’t know who they were or who I was. My Mom was there 12 hours after the accident I was in and she kept speaking to me to let me know she was there and she loved me, I woke up 19 days later and my first words were “hi Mom, I love you”. We can hear you when we are not cognizant and I know what I am talking about, You did so much just by being there.

          • Gina Bousquet August 19th, 2016 at 19:12

Oh, and I talked a lot with him ,all the time, about my love and our wish to have him back home to take care of him again. He was never left alone, the whole family took turns to be with him. Unfortunately our hopes were not to be. I’m so very glad you were able to recover after such serious accident!

            • Suzanne McFly August 19th, 2016 at 21:41

I am kind of hard-headed as they say. I was determined to walk again, and I am doing much better than they expected. I know my family was a huge part of it, I just know your Dad knows you were always there and you prepared him to go on. I believe he is still with you, at least in your heart.

              • Gina Bousquet August 19th, 2016 at 21:51

Thank you for such sweet words Suzanne. He’s very much in my heart, that’s true. I wish you reach all you set to achieve after the accident, you’re a brave fighter. :)

                • Suzanne McFly August 19th, 2016 at 22:04

Thank you Gina, that is very nice for you to say. :)

                  • Gina Bousquet August 19th, 2016 at 22:13

                    Most welcome dear! :)

        • TiredOldGuy August 19th, 2016 at 18:42

So very sorry for your loss Gina. Be strong and know that you are in our thoughts.

          • Gina Bousquet August 19th, 2016 at 19:08

Thank you so much for your kind words my friend, they help me go through this moment.

The Rusians are not exactly religious friendly.

Despite prayers and protests from religious leaders and human rights advocates, the Kremlin announced Putin’s approval yesterday. The amendments, including laws against sharing faith in homes, online, or anywhere but recognized church buildings, go into effect July 20.

Protestants and religious minorities small enough to gather in homes fear they will be most affected. Last month, “the local police officer came to a home where a group of Pentecostals meet each Sunday,” Konstantin Bendas, deputy bishop of the Pentecostal Union, told Forum 18. “With a contented expression he told them: ‘Now they’re adopting the law I’ll drive you all out of here.’ I reckon we should now fear such zealous enforcement.”

      • Gina Bousquet August 19th, 2016 at 14:14

Yes, my friend, that’s so Russian (government).

        • anothertoothpick August 19th, 2016 at 14:21

          More results of WWI.

I 1917 the world of the Russian religious followers changed.

All the problems we have today can be traced back to WWI. “The war to end all wars” actually resulted into the wars we have today.

          • Gina Bousquet August 19th, 2016 at 16:13

The Russian people was forbidden to follow their religion by the Russian Revolution, but things had eased at the time of the falling of the Berlin wall, if I remember well.

      • Ed VanDyke August 19th, 2016 at 16:53

Meanwhile… ‘The Passion of the Christ’ made RUR 17,564,315, outside of “recognized church buildings”. for a film that depicted little more than what this guy was doing… This sounds more like cops taking a traffic incident and exploiting it into facilitating a theocratic police state…

And evangelicals constantly wine about how badly they are treated in America! They need to shut up and thank god that they live here!

        • granpa.usthai August 19th, 2016 at 23:34

          well,

if they can’t openly discriminate by using government policies, they might just feel like they’re being SQUASHED!

  3. TiredOldGuy August 19th, 2016 at 14:06

Maybe there is hope that Trump can be arrested for impersonating a human being.

    • anothertoothpick August 19th, 2016 at 14:09

      Fat chance.

    • amersham1046 August 19th, 2016 at 19:33

      • Red Mann August 19th, 2016 at 22:49

Yes, he’s popular on WND and not so Breitbart.

    • granpa.usthai August 19th, 2016 at 23:30

maybe they should arrest god for being recreated in the image of trump, the gop candidate for POTUS who refuses to release his CROOKED TAX RETURNS, at the evangelical makeover.

      FLAGGED FOR NONSENSE
      AND OFF TOPIC.

    • Hirightnow August 19th, 2016 at 15:52

Well, since he wasn’t doing it in conjunction with BLM, all charges were dropped, and it has NOTHING to do with the article, I’m going to call “Deflection” on you, Andrew.

  5. wiseoldfart August 19th, 2016 at 16:09

Just over 2000 years ago, a man was arrested for impersonating God BEFORE carrying a cross. I’d crucify the guy!

  6. Gary Parillo August 19th, 2016 at 17:00

He should come up to San Francisco, nobody would even notice him!

    • Suzanne McFly August 19th, 2016 at 18:09

In New York, he would be noticed but only because he was taking up too much room on the sidewalk.

      • Gary Parillo August 19th, 2016 at 18:32

Lol! In S.F. people say,”whats a sidewalk?”, as pedestrian fatalities rise every year.

        • Suzanne McFly August 19th, 2016 at 18:53

Wow, I have never been there so I wouldn’t know. Maybe they want people to ride those trolleys so why have sidewalks?

          • Gary Parillo August 19th, 2016 at 20:41

They actually have a good public transportation out here, between the trollys, the underground trains, and the buses.Even with all that the sidewalks get so crowded downtown people tend to walk in the streets and jay walk against the traffic lights.Alot of tourists most of the year, and big conventions are often in town.Come visit sometime,it is an interesting city.

            • Suzanne McFly August 19th, 2016 at 21:47

I defiantly have that on my list of places to go. In NYC Manhattan is the only borough that gives you, the other boroughs are typical city neighborhoods. Have you been to the east coast?

              • Gary Parillo August 19th, 2016 at 22:08

No,never been that far east.Wish I would have when i was younger and more able.SF has the equivalent of your borough, with numerous divisions, all with there unique energy. From haight ashbury, mission district, financial district, etc.all with there own personalities, and interestingvpeople.Weather is pretty much always the same, with 2 seasons, rain and no rain.

                • Suzanne McFly August 19th, 2016 at 22:27

I have heard good things about the Haight-Ashbury area as far as music and clubs, and I have heard about the weather. Someday I will be out there and I will remember to bring my umbrella :)

  7. granpa.usthai August 19th, 2016 at 23:37
