It was captured in a photo that now has Bristol Palin defending her child’s father.

Bristol Palin and her husband Dakota Meyer have always been vocal in their support of the second amendment.

So after Dakota was hit with a backlash for leaving a firearm sitting inches away from the couple’s seven-month-old daughter Sailor Grace, Bristol was quick to come to his defense.

In a post written for Patheos.com, Bristol defended her and Dakota’s parenting skills, saying: ‘Recently, headlines have questioned my and my husband’s parenting acumen, stemming from pictures posted of our kids in the proximity of guns…

‘Do people forget what the Second Amendment is? We have a Constitutional right to bear arms! We also have a responsibility to protect our families.’

The 25-year-old mother-of-two went on to bemoan the ‘shaming’ of gun owners, saying: ‘I’m not ashamed to be a gun owner, and definitely not ashamed to teach my kids about gun safety at a young age.’

After recounting all the ways that firearms are a part of their lives in Alaska, from hunting to protection.

‘I know I’m parenting right when it comes to family, work ethic, values, and what’s really important in life,’ she said. ‘And I promise you, my kids are safer, and more protected and nurtured, in our own home than they could ever be anywhere else.’

What’s even worse about this pic is that the firearm appears to be pointed toward the kid. Even an NRA instructor would tell you not to point guns at anything you’re not willing to kill or destroy.
