If you’re under 50 you really need to read this. If you’re over 50, you lived through it, so share it with those under 50. Amazing to me how much I had forgotten!

When Bill Clinton was president, he allowed Hillary to assume authority over a health care reform. Even after threats and intimidation, she couldn’t even get a vote in a democratic controlled congress. This fiasco cost the American taxpayers about $13 million in cost for studies, promotion, and other efforts.

Then President Clinton gave Hillary authority over selecting a female attorney general. Her first two selections were Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood – both were forced to withdraw their names from consideration. Next she chose Janet Reno – husband Bill described her selection as “my worst mistake.” Some may not remember that Reno made the decision to gas David Koresh and the Branch Davidian religious sect in Waco, Texas resulting in dozens of deaths of women and children.

Husband Bill allowed Hillary to make recommendations for the head of the Civil Rights Commission. Lani Guanier was her selection. When a little probing led to the discovery of Ms. Guanier’s radical views, her name had to be withdrawn from consideration.

Apparently a slow learner, husband Bill allowed Hillary to make some more recommendations. She chose former law partners Web Hubbel for the Justice Department, Vince Foster for the White House staff, and William Kennedy for the Treasury Department. Her selections went well: Hubbel went to prison, Foster (presumably) committed suicide, and Kennedy was forced to resign.

Many younger votes will have no knowledge of “Travelgate.” Hillary wanted to award unfettered travel contracts to Clinton friend Harry Thompson – and the White House Travel Office refused to comply. She managed to have them reported to the FBI and fired. This ruined their reputations, cost them their jobs, and caused a thirty-six month investigation. Only one employee, Billy Dale was charged with a crime, and that of the enormous crime of mixing personal and White House funds. A jury acquitted him of any crime in less than two hours.

Still not convinced of her ineptness, Hillary was allowed to recommend a close Clinton friend, Craig Livingstone, for the position of Director of White House security. When Livingstone was investigated for the improper access of about 900 FBI files of Clinton enemies (Filegate) and the widespread use of drugs by White House staff, suddenly Hillary and the president denied even knowing Livingstone, and of course, denied knowledge of drug use in the White House.

Following this debacle, the FBI closed its White House Liaison Office after more than thirty years of service to seven presidents.

Next, when women started coming forward with allegations of sexual harassment and rape by Bill Clinton, Hillary was put in charge of the #$%$ eruption” and scandal defense. Some of her more notable decisions in the debacle were:

She urged her husband not to settle the Paula Jones lawsuit. After the Starr investigation they settled with Ms. Jones.

She refused to release the Whitewater documents, which led to the appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor.

After $80 million dollars of taxpayer money was spent, Starr’s investigation led to Monica Lewinsky, which led to Bill lying about and later admitting his affairs.

Hillary’s devious game plan resulted in Bill losing his license to practice law for ‘lying under oath’ to a grand jury and then his subsequent impeachment by the House of Representatives.

Hillary avoided indictment for perjury and obstruction of justice during the Starr investigation by repeating, “I do not recall,” “I have no recollection,” and “I don’t know” a total of 56 times while under oath.

After leaving the White House, Hillary was forced to return an estimated $200,000 in White House furniture, china, and artwork that she had stolen.

What a swell party – ready for another four or eight year of this type of low-life mess?

Now we are exposed to the destruction of possibly incriminating emails while Hillary was Secretary of State and the “pay to play” schemes of the Clinton Foundation – we have no idea what shoe will fall next.

But to her loyal fans (supporters) – I guess in her own words “what difference does it make?”

That’s a wonderful story, Bodie. I noticed you’ve stopped stuttering.

    • Gary Parillo July 31st, 2016 at 15:45

I am well past 50 and remember much of those fiascos.Still for me,and many others, the present day consideration is,”Who do you want in the white house,Trump or Hillary?” Hillary has been in politics for decades,so of course there are missteps. There is also a record of many good and positive actions, and her husband in spite of indescretions still remains one of the more popular and well liked presidents.Im not a huge Hillary fan,but i trust her experience over donnys non experience.

Exactly Gary! During USA’s Record 40 M+ Private Jobs created via Clinton42 internet privatization “Largest Economic Expansion” A NYC Steamers Landing bartender claimed ’40 people known to the Clinton’s died’-Clown bartender from Ohio. I then asked to borrow a pen and found that I personally knew 45 people deceased. Guess what happened to that Drudge Report Clown? That bartender died from High Blood Pressure because he Refused to take any BP medication. Fell over dead at 33. Boom! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1nXKw5VXn8

Saw two lawyers who did an in depth view of those. Most are garbage like slip m fall at a casino. About 40-50 are larger stuff and he’s fighting them all as opposed to hitlary who hides, lies, delays, denies and tells you to move on

          • Obewon August 5th, 2016 at 20:04

Trump is also currently indicted for 2 different Rapes. One of Trump’s rape indictments was a 13 year old at the time. She has a party-planner witness to her rape by Donald J. Trump Sr! She claims DJT Sr threatened to kill her and her family. GOP family valueless.

This is why former Reagan aide Bruce Bartlett said, “Many conservatives live in a bubble where they watch only Fox News on television, they listen only to conservative talk radio — Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, many of the same people,” Bartlett told CNN’s Brian Stelter on Sunday. “When they go onto the Internet, they look at conservative websites like National Review, Newsmax, World Net Daily.”“And so, they are completely in a universe in which they are hearing the same exact ideas, the same arguments, the same limited amount of data repeated over and over and over again. And that’s brainwashing.”

      • bigkahuna9 August 5th, 2016 at 18:12

Which is why you are an asshole.. You believe that bullshit. Besides it’s libtards who don’t get any variety and try to shut down all conservative speeches especially on campus. Buy a clue they aren’t that expensive

        • OldLefty August 6th, 2016 at 10:31

In other words, you can’t refute what Mr Bartlett said.

It amazes me how many dumb people are voting for Trump. I didn’t know that there were this many stupid people in the world. I understand folks want change but I want a person that has EXPERIENCE to run my Country.I don’t want a racist , misogynist, bitter, angry, habitual liar like Donald Trump anywhere near the White House.

    • mea_mark July 31st, 2016 at 11:57

If tRump wins we get snap elections or revolution in the streets demanding new government. tRump will never rule. A coup would be very probable before he ever even takes office.

    • Tommie July 31st, 2016 at 13:22

Those names you mentioned also applies to much of his supporters!

    • burqa July 31st, 2016 at 17:09

I feel the same way about Trump, but we and those in the media and across the internet better wake up because Trump has more than a puncher’s chance of winning.
The approach to him now is a conventional one. Things he has said would have knocked most candidates out of the race before the primaries were even concluded, but there he stands.
I think if the opposition to Trump does not change then he will probably win.

In entertainment it is said that sometimes even bad publicity is good. In advertising, many times products are successfully sold even though the commercials feature characters we dislike. In politics, some candidates have what is known as “teflon.” Bill Clinton is a good example.
Donald Trump is a candidate with teflon. He’s a bad boy whose misbehavior is being discounted by many because he’s so damned entertaining. Can you remember specifically the theme of Carly Fiorina’s campaign? What was Scott Walker’s main positions? How about Rick Perry, Jim Gilmore or Marco Rubio?
Trump sucks the air out of the room and the bad press works to his favor.
Hillary should be up by 30 but she’s not.
The reason why is the Democrats are making the same mistake the rest of the GOP field made in the primaries: they approach Trump as a conventional candidate.
      He is not.
Instead, like this site, it’s Trumptalk, 24/7. Even here, Trump is overshadowing Hillary the same way he overshadowed the other 16 Republican candidates. She is a vague afterthought, a distant figure somewhere out toward the horizon.
When we go in the booth, we will vote for someone, not against someone. Even here we have to really dig to find reasons to vote for Hillary and it’s damned near impossible to find much here to recommend Tim Kaine.

It’s the same with the rest of the media. Even when Hillary is in the news it is followed by a Trump reaction that drowns her out and makes people forget what she said.
This is how Trump will win. People won’t have a reason to vote for Hillary, but they’ll have a strong emotional reason to vote for Trump. He’s entertaining. He holds their attention. He’s interesting. They want to know what he’s going to do next. They want to see him again and again for the same reason people wanted to see the Larry Hagman character, J.R. Ewing on “Dallas.” They don’t want Trump to go away. They love hearing from him. He’s the Howard Stern, the Don Rickles and the Howard Cosell of politics.

If it continues to be Trumptalk 24/7, I think he is more likely to win than Hillary.
      Change has to come,
The strategy of focusing on Trump’s dumbass is a proven loser.

Repeat: The strategy of focusing on Trump’s dumbass is a PROVEN loser.

While we need to continue to pay attention to Trump’s idiocy, we need to have the main spotlight on Hillary.
We need to be talking about what’s so great about Hillary.
We need to be talking about Hillary‘s plans and how they will improve things and address various issues.
We need to be talking about what Hillary has done and how they indicate what Hillary will do.
We should be having positive discussions on what Tim Kaine brings to the ticket and how Kaine and Hillary will work together.

History was made Friday night in the bottom of the eighth inning in San Francisco.
The Washington Nationals were ahead by 3 runs, but the bases were loaded with no outs. Sammy Solice was on the mound after manager Dusty Baker made a triple switch.
Some San Francisco Giant hitter whose name I forgot hit a line drive to Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman, who stepped on the bag for two and threw to Anthony Rendon at third base to get former Nat Denard Span who had started for home.
It was the first 3-3-5 triple play in baseball history. I believe it is the first unassisted triple play ever executed by a first baseman.

It’s a secret !!!…

    • Larry Schmitt August 3rd, 2016 at 20:35

The most commonly used phrase when describing the Trump campaign: Surely he’s gone too far this time.
And yet he never seems to go “too far.” It’s like a mirage in the desert. You keep going toward it, but it never gets any closer.

I have no idea what that is about, but it brings to mind something I read last night.
I was working on this terrorism and espionage project I’ve been at for many years. I have a pretty good database built up.
Last night I took notes on a British MI6 officer who received some vaccines before being deployed abroad. The doctor gave him the wrong stuff.
The result was his face was turned an add bluish-purplish color and stayed that way.
So the poor guy kept the lights turned way down low in his office to reduce the effect of talking to a guy with a blue face.
I swear, I am not making that up.
His name was Maurice Jeffes, and he was described by Soviet double agent Kim Philby as “a colourless administrator” (except for his blue face).

Every time I do that, it kicks me off and I have to log back in. Logging back in can be problematic, because sometimes they see my password typed in and they tell me the space is blank. Sometimes they tell me the password is incorrect.
But clearing history often seems to help considering the alternative.

    • Alan August 4th, 2016 at 08:29

      • burqa August 4th, 2016 at 17:48

I have had the same problem a long time and still have it.
When I try to type a post, many times I can only get a couple of words typed before everything freezes up while pages download. A message as short as this one can take 15 minutes to type and post.
Below, whatthe46 recommends clearing one’s history. This works to a degree, but every time I do it I have to log back in, which can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes.

But I’m hanging in here, Alan. I like you a lot and I have an emotional investment in the site. I am grateful it is here and am also grateful for those who make it go, especially the moderators. My passion for the site outweighs the difficulties and it is important to set that perspective.

I’m having even worse trouble with my Yahoo Mail account. They have a couple of programs that take forever to download and when you contact customer service, instead of fixing it they give you a badge. I am not making that up.

    Wow.
    That’s a whole lotta Trump!

On the entire front page, almost every picture link is to a Trump story.
And none of them are for any other candidates.
    Good or bad.

(There was that Libertarian Town Hall that’s making several headlines.)
(Or Bernie Sanders starting the Our Revolution political organization.)
(Also, Pramila Jayapal won in Washington.)

The last article directly about another candidate was on July 31st.
It was about Clinton’s 7 point bounce.
(I know Bernie isn’t a candidate now, but it still counts.) :p

    • Larry Schmitt August 4th, 2016 at 11:55

He’s that giant sucking sound you hear on the media.

    • burqa August 4th, 2016 at 18:02

It’s been like that for some time now.
This site is now Trumptalk, 24/7.

It’s like that elsewhere and I think if Trump wins this is how he’ll do it.
People want to know what Trump said today.
People want to know where Trump is.
      Trump makes people laugh.
      Trump is interesting.
You can’t look away, it’s all eyes on Trump.
Trump appeals to the pleasure centers in our brains.
We don’t want Trump to go away.
Yes, he is gross, offensive and stupid. So is Howard Stern. Don Rickles and the Unknown Commedian and Opie & Anthony had huge audiences even though they insulted and disgusted people.

      Hillary who?

All the Trump talk wins the news cycle every day.
No one is talking about what Hillary said today.
If Hillary says something, Trump drowns her out in reply. He is strangling her campaign.
No one is talking about Hillary’s plans.
No one is talking about what Bill did today.
No one is discussing what Hillary thinks of current events.
Hillary is some vague afterthought, a tiny, hazy dot in the far distance.
Trump’s strategy defeated 16 Republican opponents who tried and failed to defeat Trump by focusing on Trump’s stupidity.
Focusing on Trump’s stupidity is a known loser.
The focus needs to be on Hillary and what she is about. Yeah, we can still jeer at Trump, but the focus needs to be changed, otherwise I am afraid Trump will win.
      His strategy is undefeated.

Look at it from this perspective. The more trumps idiocy is broadcast ant exposed, the more eyes are opening to what he is,to th point lately that many repukes are publically rejecting him.Its good that he keeps talking.Hillary devastate him when the debates come around, and her policies will shine like gold by comparison.

That approach is a proven loser. We just saw 16 Republicans try it and 16 Republicans went down in flames – bang-bang-bang – one after the other. I am not going to adopt an approach that has an 0-16 win-loss record.
The reason it fails is it is a conventional approach that would work on a conventional candidate.
          Trump is an unconventional candidate.
The conventional wisdom was he would entertain briefly, but be gone by the second or third debate, tops, because he was such a goofball. Then a serious candidate would take over.
Conventional approaches do not work against unconventional candidates and we must learn that lesson.

Republicans failed to learn that lesson with Superstar Bill Clinton.
Beginning in 1992, they began a conventional approach. He was in 6th place during the New Hampshire primary when the GOP wheeled out Gennifer Flowers. Soon after, Paula Jones and Troopergate emerged. That would have been plenty to knock out a conventional candidate.
Superstar Bill Clinton was an unconventional candidate. He just got stronger.
The GOP didn’t learn from the primaries and Clinton whipped their sitting president who had 90% approval ratings a year previously.
The GOP didn’t learn from the general election and stayed with the conventional approach. They got Fisk appointed special prosecutor and it was on. Troopergate, Whitewater, Filegate, Travelgate, Vince Foster, – all dry holes.
But the GOP refused to learn and mistakenly thought they struck gold with Lewinsky. All Clinton did was get stronger in the face of conventional attacks that would have sunk and conventional target. He left office with approval ratings over 50%.

Unconventional candidates vary and so do the ways to beat them. With Superstar Bill Clinton, the way to beat him (as well as Hillary, by the way) is to have superior policies put forth in a straight, clean political way. The Republicans didn’t try that much with Bill Clinton so he smashed them over and over, even when they had majorities in Congress.

We MUST learn this lesson: conventional tactics will not beat an unconventional candidate. By that I mean conventional negative campaigning. In Bill Clinton’s case it was the philandering and other personal stuff. With Trump it is his dumbass.

Trump wins the news cycle daily.
No one talks about Hillary’s plans because no one cares. Trump is strangling her campaign.
If he was a conventional candidate she would be up by over 30.
Trump’s dumbass has gotten so entertaining it appeals to the pleasure centers in our brains. He’s political crack. A vote against him takes away our crack. People will vote for him just to keep him around because the show it too much fun to turn off.

        And Hillary is loving it!

Everything that comes out that’s negative abour he or the DNC propping her up is promptly swept aside for “TRUMPOCOLYPSE!”
And she’s being smart… staying low, doing her thing more locally instead of national attention.
The media at large are giving her a pass on anything that could hurt he, because they want her to win and because Trump is RATINGS.

Hillary is a pot-holed road, a couple people pulled over for reckless driving and some paid off cops to let some DUI guy go free.
Trump is an 18 wheeler that crashed into another 18 wheeler that both blew up and decimated a bridge and bodies are strewn about all over the place.

I just had something really cool happen.
I was sharing a fave bit of trivia about Fredericksburg with a friend. In 1958, the first heavy metal song of all times was written and played here. Hardly anyone knows this. I came across it 30 years ago in the liner notes of the album.
The song is “Rumble” by Link Wray.
So then we got to talking about something else and another friend got online doing a search and came up with a newspaper article about this great song being written here. This second friend printed out a copy of the article and handed it to me.
So I’m reading the article and durned if it didn’t quote a friend of mine who was there when the song was first played at the local armory.
THEN, while I’m still reading the article, the friend who was there back in ’58 walked by and I hollered out, “Hey John, I’ve got something here that mentions you.” He walked over, I showed him the article and he described that night when the first heavy metal song was played, pretty much invented on the spot because Link Wray and his band did not know another song that was out at the time….

George Zimmerman got punched in the face at Florida bar for bragging about killing Trayvon Martin. Kudos to the folks at the bar. There was a miscommunication, though…he got punched by a racist who doesn’t like black people.
