Donald Trump wants revenge on Sen. Ted Cruz and Gov. John Kasich. And he’s apparently willing to spend $20 million to get it. Both Cruz and Kasich have failed to endorse Trump for president, despite signing a pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee last year. Cruz even went a step further, delivering a powerful speech…

I hope no one is claiming people can’t give/donate to other people of their choice ? (Unless it is to commit or threaten or pay for a violent crime)

    • OldLefty July 24th, 2016 at 09:34

Nobody cares who gives to whom.

      • Howard Pearce @HAPlibertarian July 24th, 2016 at 10:14

Really? Does that apply to all political donations? Or are you going to refine that down a bit ?

        • OldLefty July 24th, 2016 at 10:36

          No.
That applies to whom people give according to FEC laws.

          • Howard Pearce @HAPlibertarian July 24th, 2016 at 15:03

Ahh , a change ! But you said nobody cared.

Obviously some do including those at the FEC.

So the question is if you support the government limiting donations by others.

I obviously believe whom one wants to donate their money to is up to them, and not you or the state.

            • OldLefty July 24th, 2016 at 15:29

              No change.
I said nobody care to WHOM you give.
I believe that money should not be allowed for campaigns.
If you want to line Trump’s or Hillary’s pocket privately, that’s YOUR business, but campaigns for public office are not private.

              • Howard Pearce @HAPlibertarian July 24th, 2016 at 15:48

“Nobody cares who gives to whom”
That is what you said. Not me in particular. If someone else actually agrees with your interpretation of what you said, I’d love to hear it.

Obviously the people at the FEC do care else they wouldn’t have laws prohibiting or limiting such donations

Money should not be allowed for campaigns? You mean NON-STATE money, right ? That is still money even thought it is taken from the citizenry by force.

So you don’t support the right of people to give to whom they please ? Who gets to decide who can receive those donations? Your friend the state, of course and maybe you?

Yes, as long as it is in the law it is OK by your prior comments elsewhere.

                • OldLefty July 24th, 2016 at 15:55

                  That’s EXACTLY what I said.
The FEC have laws limiting amount.

And you don’t get to purchase elected officials.

                  • Howard Pearce @HAPlibertarian July 24th, 2016 at 16:09

The FEC has laws limiting the amount and therefor that is what counts to you – not whether that law itself is a violation of rights.

Again that question comes up . I won’t repeat it.

                    • OldLefty July 24th, 2016 at 16:12

The law is NOT a violation of rights in any way.
                      It promotes a free society.

                    • Howard Pearce @HAPlibertarian July 24th, 2016 at 18:08

Geez, let’s repeat So if the law mandated citizens kill a jew a day, then that wouldn’t be a violation of rights? Incredible.

                    • OldLefty July 24th, 2016 at 18:14

That you are STILL on that stupid false analogy is incredible.

Some are questioning the legality of the move as he is a candidate himself but most question the wisdom of it. As a presidential candidate, he should look to further the interests of the GOP he leads, not hobble it through personal vendetta.

      • Howard Pearce @HAPlibertarian July 24th, 2016 at 10:13

Legality ? Tell us what that legality is ? The “professional” ethics is certainly open to question, but tell us what is illegal.

        • Comicus July 24th, 2016 at 10:44

Are the big words confusing you? Look them up in a dictionary.

and I hope that no one is claiming that trashing the popular governor of a state Trump cannot afford to lose, is a good idea.

  4. OldLefty July 24th, 2016 at 09:42

    Isn’t this just classic megalomania?

  5. Foundryman July 24th, 2016 at 10:24

This should help make Ohio republicans (who happen to like Kasich) feel all warm and fuzzy inside and run right out to vote for this moron.

  6. labman57 July 24th, 2016 at 10:34

Pettiness and vindictiveness are two of Trump’s core character traits.
Imagine what he would try to do if he had the power of the presidency.

  7. arc99 July 24th, 2016 at 12:40

There are two important points here.

    1. For better or worse, Gov. Kasich is quite popular in Ohio
    2. In the election analysis that I am reading, it says that Trump cannot win in November without winning Ohio

The Trump strategy will be to trash a popular governor in a state he cannot afford to lose?

I say, proceed Mr. Trump. Shoot yourself in the foot. Works for me…

  8. John Zohn July 24th, 2016 at 16:36

Can’t they all just get a gun and shoot each other?

  9. amersham1046 July 24th, 2016 at 21:14

Everybody should be stoking this fire, there is nothing good that can come from it

  10. bpollen July 25th, 2016 at 01:23

Good. You wanna increase the chances that a Dem replaces them, who am I to stop you?
