Airline suspends pilot who said Hillary Clinton should be hung

Posted by | July 18, 2016 12:24 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

West Virginia lawmaker Michael Folk, who is also a pilot, has been suspended by United Airlines.

“This pilot has been removed from flying pending our investigation,” United posted on Twitter Sunday. “We are appalled by his threatening comments.”

Folk, a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, wrote on Twitter that Clinton should be tried for treason and then “hung on the mall in Washington, D.C.,” according to CNN. The post was deleted.

Folk declined to comment. Folk told CNN that he was being hyperbolic about Clinton.

Thanks to conservatives’ systematic undermining of labor unions, and the concept of “employment at will”, employees can be suspended or terminated whenever the employer sees fit.

Alaska Airlines will fire someone for smoking cigarettes. IN THEIR OWN HOME ON THEIR OWN TIME. If people can be disciplined for private behavior in their own home, then certainly they can be disciplined for public behavior visible to millions of people.

You built this world righties, so no whining about first amendment rights.

Republicans in the West Virginia legislature overrode the governor’s veto of a contentious right-to-work bill on Friday, delivering another major legislative setback to organized labor.

The swift override means that a majority of U.S. states now have right-to-work laws, with West Virginia becoming the 26th. Despised by unions, these laws give workers the option to stop paying fees to unions that must still represent them.

This b*st*rd meant what he tweeted, just as surely as I’m typing this. He didn’t think his tweet would become part of the national political conversation and is now trying to pretend he didn’t mean to suggest violence against HRC. Something tells me that this isn’t the first time that he’s expressed violence against others he doesn’t agree with. The only reason he’s claiming his tweet was hyperbolic now is because he has been suspended and could lose his job. I don’t believe for one second that he regrets his tweet.

      He should lose his job!

So how long before FOX & Friends invites him on the show to share his “hyperbolic” views and to complain about his free speech rights being violated?

Why is it there are still people who are surprised to find the World Wide Web can be accessed worldwide?

  6. mistlesuede July 18th, 2016 at 17:54

Why not just remove him permanently?

Ironically in this case, because the airline pilots union is very powerful.
