Man takes terminally ill dog on farewell cross-country trip
Nebraskan Rob Kugler, an ex-Marine, was devastated to learn Bella’s time was limited.

However, it won’t save her, because the cancer is in her lungs, and you’re looking at 3-6 months.”
…“Starting only a few hundred miles to Southern Missouri, the trip got extended to Kentucky, then to Nashville, then clear to the Carolina coast to help a friend,” Rob says. “We hurled ourselves right back into it, again, without a plan other than seeing who we know where and who would like to meet Bella along the way.”

Click on the link to read the whole story. The dog not only survived the trip, but is now traveling on another extended tour and is doing well…the power of love is amazing.

It is so damn hard to watch our dogs get old and/or sick. After struggling through the end of our first Corgi’s life, I never wanted to go through it again. A year later, I had another Corgi.
It is love in it’s purest form like what this wonderful guy has with Bella.
My heart goes out to both of them. :(

I have had to bury quite a few dogs, I have had them all my life. I remember my first one and I still think of the silly things she did to make me laugh, I still am in pain for not having her in my life and I feel the exact same for all my pets who have gone to the next step. I will always have pets in my life, I would rather have to bury another pet then to think of the unloved pets in shelters who never get a chance.

Did you have dogs when you were a kid?

As I toddler I remember playing with my dachshund Muffin. I always had a dog in my life, I have to have one in my life or I am not complete. Sounds crazy but I love dogs, they are the best beings on this great planet in my eyes.

Spending your loved one’s last moments with them? I’ve had to put down a number of pets over the years, and I always was with them (bawling each and every time) until the moment we buried them with honor. I now have rosebushes marking their graves.
Do your loved ones deserve any less?

a tear – too close to home – some lives matter more than others and dogs fill most of those cherished spots.
