Dallas suspect identified as Micah Xavier Johnson

Posted by | July 8, 2016 11:21 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly

He’s a 25-year-old army veteran.

Dallas police killed Johnson using a robotic explosive device after cornering him in a parking garage at El Centro College. Police had negotiated with him for several hours.

“We were able to take out one of the suspects, who had been cornered in the garage, with an explosive device,” Mayor Mike Rawlings said in a press conference. “We’ve got other possible suspects that we’re interviewing. They’re not being real cooperative at this point.”

The shootings killed five police officers, and wounded six others. Two civilians were also wounded in the attacks.

Police have not found any links between the suspects and international terrorist groups, but investigators said one suspect claimed a racial motive in the shootings.

    PTSD?

    • amongoose July 8th, 2016 at 12:13

      All four of them?
Does incendiary rhetoric from the left have anything to do with this?
If the speech of the right can inspire shootings, why cannot that of the left?
BLM has been calling for violence against cops for over a year.
Look at the tweets calling for more of it. This helps whom?
      .
This is not going to end well. It will result in either a crackdown on the black community, and odds are more shootings of cops and by cops, or the police essentially pulling out as they have in St. Louis, Baltimore, and Chicago. Crime, especially murder, have soared.
      .
The racism and hate aren’t one-sided.

How covenant this tragedy is for your self-righteous views.
Yes, no doubt the repressed may have some races feeling towards their repressors.

What were the “self righteous views” I expressed, or alluded to?
Is there no hateful rhetoric from the left, as you claim there is from the right?
          .
So for certain groups/races this is what, justified?

Forget the “right and left” for a minute

Do you believe America is holding it’s promise that “all men are created equal”?

I think LBJ said it best and I quote.

There is no Negro problem. There is no Southern problem. There is no Northern problem. There is only an American problem.

          • MBJR July 8th, 2016 at 13:56

            Convinently missing my point.

            • amongoose July 8th, 2016 at 21:44

              And it was?

              • MBJR July 8th, 2016 at 23:28

It needs no explanation. Go play with somebody else, I’m done with you.

      • anothertoothpick July 8th, 2016 at 12:53

        Explain this;

Overall in 2015, black people were killed at twice the rate of white, Hispanic and native Americans. About 25% of the African Americans killed were unarmed, compared with 17% of white people.

        • amongoose July 8th, 2016 at 12:56

Nice deflection, but doesn’t answer the question.

          • anothertoothpick July 8th, 2016 at 12:59

The question of black oppression vs white oppression?

        • Jimmy Fleck July 8th, 2016 at 13:50

killed by police? Stats I have seen show more white people are killed by police than african american.

Can you provide an example of a significant figure linked to the BLM movement using “incendiary rhetoric”?

Keep in mind, I’m not talking about “random person who expresses support for BLM and uses incendiary rhetoric”, I’m talking about someone with actual influence. You know, like multiple Republican candidates and members of congress who put bullseye/gun target marks on their Democratic opponents (and other Democrats), use weapons on actual laws in their campaign ads, etc? Or the presumptive Republican nominee cheer-leading a group of their followers physically attacking a protester?

There’s really no doubt that the actions of these four were driven by incendiary rhetoric by *somebody* (whether the underlying cause is PTSD or something else, something had to actually push them to THIS action), but I’ve never heard any influential person call for violence against innocent policemen as part of the BLM movement, or more generally as a “leftist” kind of call.

      • whatthe46 July 8th, 2016 at 13:54

link. and organizers of the BLM movement have always denounced violence. you’re full of it. but, tRump and crazy ass white racist on fox lies and talk radio have definitely called for violence. and violence by police have been happening to minorities in mass just this year.

      • Carla Akins July 9th, 2016 at 00:36

Granted, this response is late but there doesn’t seem to be 4 of them. I can’t imagine a young man that served his country and had no criminal record whatsoever simply decided to go on a killing rampage. Millions of people are outraged over something: law enforcement killings, pedophiles, religion, lack of religion, they still don’t step into the street and place other beings in the crosshairs.

I agree that it’s a tragedy and the repressed are always the loser in these situations, regardless of whether they bear any responsibility. Hate is never one-sided but racism most certainly is. Black folk in this country have never held the majority of power, been able to hold the economic and legislative power to systematically place white people in poverty, take their civil rights, kill them with impunity and place them at a constant disadvantage all while demanding the opportunity exists if they’d just try hard enough. It just doesn’t work that way.
