Some of the new titles for military occupational specialties (MOS) are basic infantry Marine, infantry assault marine, armor marine and amphibious combat vehicle Marine. “Names that were not changed, like rifleman, are steeped in Marine Corps history and ethos,” an official said. Titles changed usually had “man” as a separate word, such as reconnaissance man or field artillery sensor support man. Navy Secretary Ray Mabus said, “As we achieve full integration of the force … this is an opportunity to update the position titles and descriptions themselves to demonstrate through this language that women are included in these MOS.”

      Humans? I thought they were Reptilians.

        Now you should not be using that non-inclusive word “human” you know. Are you a sexist or something?

        Sniveling about how things are changing doesn’t actually impede anything but your own adaptability. As nature says, adapt or die. Nice to know you opted for extinction. Like Neanderthals, you will be superseded by those who CAN adapt.

        Language is a living thing. It changes too. Why, it seems like just yesterday when we would say:

        Whan that Aprill with his shoures soote
        The droghte of March hath perced to the roote,
        And bathed every veyne in swich licour
        Of which vertu engendred is the flour;
        Whan Zephirus eek with his sweete breeth
        Inspired hath in every holt and heeth
        The tendre croppes, and the yonge sonne
        Hath in the Ram his halve cours yronne,
        And smale fowles maken melodye,
        That slepen al the nyght with open ye
        (So priketh hem nature in hir corages),
        Thanne longen folk to goon on pilgrimages.

        Are you a Marine? If not, then what the hell do you care?

    Sounds good to me, though the whole “Every Marine a rifleman” bit is basically a Pipedream.
