NY Times: Arms sent by U.S. to Syrian rebels stolen and sold on black market

It should be no surprise, since this is more the rule than the exception when we arm questionable groups.

Weapons shipped into Jordan by the Central Intelligence Agency and Saudi Arabia intended for Syrian rebels have been systematically stolen by Jordanian intelligence operatives and sold to arms merchants on the black market, according to American and Jordanian officials.

Some of the stolen weapons were used in a shooting in November that killed two Americans and three others at a police training facility in Amman, F.B.I. officials believe after months of investigating the attack, according to people familiar with the investigation.

The existence of the weapons theft, which ended only months ago after complaints by the American and Saudi governments, is being reported for the first time after a joint investigation by The New York Times and Al Jazeera. The theft, involving millions of dollars of weapons, highlights the messy, unplanned consequences of programs to arm and train rebels — the kind of program the C.I.A. and Pentagon have conducted for decades — even after the Obama administration had hoped to keep the training program in Jordan under tight control.

    Let’s review….
After spending $10 Trillion on the war, we sent $12B in cash to Iraq and watched it vanish (they say we recovered $5B but that could never be proven (it actually disappeared again)
We left a trillion dollars worth of military hardware in the hands of Iraq’s who promptly used it to start killing each other so when a real threat did come to town (Daesh) they were a splintered group of hateful religious bigots who abandoned their positions and ran clutching their nutz.
Now we find out we’ve merely continued the madness for 10 years…but this time our “friends” the Jordanians took a piece of the pie and no doubt sold it to Daesh for some of the $12b they stole from Iraqi banks when the cowardly religious fundamentalists hit the ground running….

The only thing we haven’t supplied Daesh with is food and medical supplies…or have we…???

If I didn’t know better I’d think this was a chapter out of 1984…is there still anyone out there that doesn’t believe we wanted to create Daesh…???

So what else is new ? It seems that everything we send there is used against us eventually.
