Lonegan: A Trump victory sends my party into the ‘dark ages’

Posted by | June 21, 2016 08:37 | Filed under: Politics Radio Interviews

Former Bogota, NJ mayor Steve Lonegan is heading the effort to convince delegates to not support Donald Trump at the Republican convention. He spoke to me on radio Monday night.

He told me that the worst case scenario for the GOP would be if Trump actually becomes president, which would lead the party into “the dark ages” and possibly cost Republicans the House and the Senate. He said the Republican leadership has no idea how to handle the Trump campaign, how the GOP convention could become a “PR nightmare” for the party, and why he thinks anti-Trump conservatives like him led to the turmoil inside the Trump campaign highlighted by the departure of Corey Lewandowski.

Your party is already in the Dark Ages and it was there long before the Dumpster reared his ugly comb over.
