POLITICO: Trump’s poll numbers in historic hole

Posted by | June 17, 2016 09:23 | Filed under: Politics

Say what you will about Hillary Clinton’s negatives. They don’t compare to how poorly Donald Trump is doing.

Trump is setting modern records for political toxicity — at least for a major-party candidate this far out from an election. Seventy percent of Americans surveyed in an ABC News/Washington Post poll out this week had an unfavorable opinion of Trump, up 10 points over the past month. The poll showed Trump’s favorable rating cratering at 29 percent, down from 37 percent last month.

The numbers were similar in a Bloomberg Politics poll: Trump’s favorable rating is just 31 percent, with 66 percent viewing him unfavorably. That’s only marginally better than in March, when 29 percent viewed Trump favorably, and 68 percent had an unfavorable opinion.

Gallup’s latest figures show Trump at 31 percent favorable/63 percent unfavorable – significantly worse than Clinton’s 41 percent favorable/54 percent unfavorable.

Those high unfavorables extend to the battleground states: A Marquette Law School poll out Wednesday found 64 percent of Wisconsin voters view Trump unfavorably — compared to only 26 percent who have a favorable opinion of him.

But it’s not just the overall unfavorable numbers — it’s the intensity of the antipathy toward Trump, and the lack of enthusiasm for him. In the ABC News/Washington Post poll, 56 percent of respondents had a “strongly unfavorable” opinion of Trump, compared to just 15 percent who had a “strongly favorable” opinion. In the Bloomberg poll, 51 percent had a “very unfavorable” opinion of Trump, with only 11 percent having a “very favorable” opinion.

Trump maybe the first nominee to crater further in July, without a tiny convention bounce.

Sorry, and should have offered brain bleach, which I am now using, in copious quantities.

GOP? You did this to yourselves. Maybe the next time one of your idiots ruins the country and tanks the economy, you’ll work with the President the nation elects to fix it, instead of sitting on your overpaid duffs and obstructing every effort to get us back on track. It’s fitting that a psychotic reality show host ushers in the last gasps of your dead party.

I wish he would fall in that historic hole!

Trump could rebound from his current plummet, that that would mean staying on script and taking his meds — i.e., it ain’t gonna happen.

Encouraging news to be sure. The 2016 GOP convention runs from July 18 – July 21

I will not get too giddy over any of these disastrous poll results for Trump until after we see what kind of performance he gives at the convention and if that translates into the usual “bounce”.

Still, it sure does not look good for Orange Leader. Some of his fellow Republicans have already bailed on attending the convention or supporting him. Corporate America is starting to do the same thing. Priceless…

Any bounce he gets will be short lived. The Democrats meet the very next week. Hopefully there will be a stark contrast between those conclaves

Media polling is so funny. The Hillary bias can be seen all throughout the details.

    One example: Ipsos Reuters

Shows Hillary over Trump by an average of 10 points… WITH MEN!!!

If this was a real number… don’t you think the media would be hailing it as a drastic reversal from Trump’s 20+ point lead with men?

But wait… IPSOS Reuters has shown Hillary leading with men for weeks now… but the media is quiet on this detail that diverges from all other declared polling.

    Why is this?

Because… this detail is not meant to be discussed given it is a manipulated result that occurs when you oversample Dems by close to 20 points.

How else can you infer the heavy Dem oversampling? Look at the question responses… such as Did you vote Obama or Romney? On that question, Obama wins by well over 20 points… far different from the under 4 point spread. 90% of each party voted along party lines… and when they did not.. their votes for the other mostly cancelled.

This poll is a sham. And the media knows it. Trump does not mind.. because this sham will cause Hillary to continue on a path that America disapproves of drastically.
