Right-wing pundit: Gays ‘safer returning to the closet’

Posted by | June 16, 2016 14:39 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

Right-wing commentator Timothy Buchanan practically blames gays for the Orlando massacre and says they should be back in the closet for their own good.

Contrary to the professions of the Left, diversity is not America’s strength. Diversity is a weakness. For America as a nation, unity is our strength and we have lost it. Certainly, there can exist diversity among a united people. But the unifying identity that Americans once shared has been discarded as unnecessary, condemned as elitist and even rejected as a hindrance to free expression and happiness.

It’s worth considering that homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals might be safer returning to the closet. Flaunting gross immorality and defiant wickedness that is hideous, odious and wretched to an overwhelming majority of people is a foolish and dangerous course of action.

Those who come to the United States from other cultures–some of which are infinitely more moral than our own–are going to be offended and repulsed by the rampant depravity that has become a defining characteristic of our culture. No amount of education, sensitivity training or political indoctrination will change that.

…Today we have an entire political party that has devoted itself to dividing and fracturing our nation’s unity. Amazingly, it promotes the most vile forms of wickedness: murder, sexual depravity, lust and rebellion and then condemns the predictable and violent fruit of its own policies and practices.

    • Larry Schmitt June 16th, 2016 at 15:30

But not nearly as talented as Lurch.

      • Richard Banville June 16th, 2016 at 18:58

        “You raaaaaang…?”

      >> that slab of meat he calls a head … That is one ugly a$$ Lurch looking dude ..

If anyone needed a queer eye, it was this guy.

I find him and his ramblings more offensive than any LBGT person I’ve ever known or heard of.

What are the job requirements to become a right wing pundit?

Of course, a short skirt for the women.

      But the men?

      • Warman1138 June 16th, 2016 at 15:38

Requirement? The ability to disavow reality.

      • Budda June 16th, 2016 at 18:56

I believe there is a line on the application that asks about; how weird is your hair and do you have crazy eyes?

      • majii June 16th, 2016 at 20:33

Based on my observations over 40+ years, I think the main requirement is being someone who wants to make large sums of money without working too hard. Must be nice.

        • Mensa Member June 17th, 2016 at 00:08

The part I am jealous of is the lack of homework.

Right Wing pundits get to make crap up without any consequence for being wrong.

Nice work if you can get it.

I am sorry but I do not agree with your post on this. If you really thought it was “nice work” that is what you would be doing. RWNJ’s are either not very intelligent to begin with or are agreeable to pretending not to be. That pretense would be something far outside of your skill levels…..you are too intelligent to be able to carry that pretense off for long…..so I think you are kidding….pretending to be ignorant would choke you, put chains on you….and it would not be “nice work” for you.

Twain said something about politicians today doing things for 1 million dollars that which they should not be willing to do for two million…..I just don’t think you would be able to do that kind of work for even two million. After awhile the stress would get to you and you would be screaming something intelligent and give yourself away.

not so much short skirts, think of the wives….like Santorum’s….dressed not to show body shapes….except for things like FOX news…

This is what I see as requirements.

Someone who can’t make success on their own merit

Someone willing to sellout the nation in order to make profits for self

Someone who lacks ethical values and who is willing to use people less intelligent than they are and take advantage of them

Someone who has a serious need to control the actions of others

Someone who likes to be in a position of power to punish people

Someone not capable of being flexible, educated, or thinking for oneself

Someone not able to cope with people being different

Someone who feels secure when they are making others seems inferior

Someone who feels brave while picking on people who they see as being weaker or having less power.

And a bunch of other things that are bad.

Something tells me that “Timothy Buchanan” knows something about being in the closet.

    • clemans June 17th, 2016 at 05:35

I suspect he escaped and his closet is missing it’s idiot.

I give up thinking that people can’t be that stupid or cruel….

  4. Warman1138 June 16th, 2016 at 15:36

Four days later and it’s gay peoples fault they get mass murdered after it became Obama’s fault, liberals and lack of enough gun toting and ethnic/immigrant oversight and gun free zones and………

Said the man with a face that would stop an 8 day clock.

        Or play banjo on Deliverance.

File this as a nuanced threat under the heading:
“If you know what’s good for you …”

From what I have seen, only republicans have been in the closet. In this election rump has come along and showed them the light, he jumped on his soapbox and screamed his racist, bigoted beliefs and the repubs jumped on the rump train. But then came along the general election and they realized they were only about 28% of the population so they started jumping ship. Well it is a good thing the democrats support education and we don’t forget what happened.

    • clemans June 17th, 2016 at 05:32

I don’t see that republicans have been in the closet. They are right there, up front and in your face, trying to force their distortion of Christian faith in our faces. I see Trump as dumping hyperbole all over their hate-fill script and going large with it, he is holding up a mirror to their faces of who they are to begin with.

The right was against women being in control of their own bodies long before Trump, bigoted against gays, transexuals, education based on facts, fair voting, free speech, critical thinking, protecting the environment, anti-science. and a whole bunch more. He just took their script and embellished it to cartoon levels and has run with it.

I would love to see them IN the closet. It used to be that stupid people knew they weren’t the sharpest pencil in the box and they would zip their lips and remain silent…..at least providing doubt…..now it seems the less they know the more and louder they cheer about it. Remember the cheers bush got when he told the world that he wasn’t going to trust any of those college-educated experts when it came to Iraq…and how the Tea Party types cheered …and how bush was 100% wrong about every policy he came up with? Remember too, that so far none of the republicans have apologized for thinking not trusting the college-educated experts…..who were right about the reasons for not invading Iraq?

Those people need to be in a closet or a padded room somewhere…..all they have been doing is doubling down on stupid and trying to stick us with Trump….stupidity is a domestic enemy.

      • Suzanne McFly June 17th, 2016 at 10:12

        I stand corrected lol.

        • clemans June 17th, 2016 at 12:11

I don’t see it as corrected, I see it as we encourage each other to think bigger and work as a team……my granddaughter used to say “what is going to work Grandma” and before I could answer, she would yell “Teamwork”…..and “liberals” need to work! smiles

I don’t think Timothy Buchanan would like it if some of us said that people like him need to sit down and STFU, which is exactly what he needs to do. The reason there is a problem with unity in the nation at this time in our history is NOT because “the Left” is stirring unnecessary sh*t up, it’s because many on the right like Buchanan are, and they’re doing it to make money. I tend to keep to myself and mind my own business, so I don’t really care what anyone else does as long as s/he leaves me alone. Most of the evidence of murder, sexual depravity, lust, violence, and rebellion has been demonstrated by right-wingers, but Buchanan will never admit this. Recent references are: The two RE lawmakers in MI who got caught cheating on their spouses and tried to keep their seats in the state legislature; the Bundys and their buddies who sought to take over a federal refuge by force; the GOP lawmakers who are mainly males making laws in regard to women’s bodies, and those who think women should be jailed for electing to have abortions, and who never target male body penises and/or testes for regulation; Michele Fiore who said she’d pull her gun on law enforcement officers if they pulled theirs first; McCain singing, “Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran” in the run up to the 2008 presidential election; the NRA leaders who seem to think that the solution to any problem is a gun, etc.

Of course they would be safer hiding from bigots like you, Timmy. Which, if my math is correct, means that YOU are the problem.
