The denial by some Republicans that this was an anti-gay crime is breathtaking.

Texas’ Congressman Pete Sessions was once known as being the man who submitted a bill proposing that the United States recognize magic as a “national treasure.” Now, he can add the following statements to the list of things that will surely make him infamous:

    Why do some conservatives find it so unacceptable for Americans to show solidarity and empathy for the LGBT community that they feel compelled to deny the shooter’s motivation for the attack?

      I don’t think we will ever really know what motivation someone with mental health issues uses, rather it is complex or simple…..but you sure are spot on about them finding it unacceptable. They have to when you think about it. Gay rights is still an issue with some of their base, and if there is a show of solidarity, their base might open their hearts and minds like much of America has already and then the GOP will lose one more issue totally.
