50 dead after mass shooting in Orlando gay night club

Orlando police say the death toll is 50 in the Pulse nightclub shooting.

A massacre at an Orlando gay nightclub early Sunday morning has been described as a “domestic terror incident” with 50 fatalities and 53 injured, hospitalized individuals, officials said, making it the worst mass shooting in US history.

Earlier:

Authorities are investigating this as an act of terror.

Orlando Police Chief John Mina said Sunday morning, just hours after a shooter opened fire in the club. At least 42 people have been transported for medical treatment, he said.

Police have shot and killed the gunman, Mina told reporters.

“It’s appears he was organized and well-prepared,” the chief said, adding that the shooter had an assault-type weapon, a handgun and “some type of (other) device on him.”

Orlando authorities said they consider the violence an act of domestic terror. The FBI is involved.

The shooting began around 2 a.m., and an officer responded, Mina said. The officer engaged in a shootout outside the club, after which the gunman ran into the club.

“That turned into a hostage situation,” Mina said. Authorities were getting calls from people inside the club but away from the gunman, the chief said.

    A) Did he target gays on his own accord ? If so perhaps the underlying motive was some huge religious / sexual orientation conflict.

    B) Was he given orders by higher ranking ISIS operatives ? If so how incredibly disgusting the religious brain virus is . Forget AI, this virus is out to destroy or past, present and future.

I’m leaning towards B. Those ISIS punks get CNN you know. Anybody paying attention knows Trump as POTUS will be the end of the US any of us grew up in. Not only will his disgusting racist, narcissistic,Islamophobic nature be forgotten,it will be rewarded by the fear this despicable act in Orlando intended. The GOP has perfected the art of capitalizing on making Americans fearful little cowards. They will await commands . Commands to hate, commands to kill, commands to be owned by the Donald himself.

According to officials no evidence of direct link to ISIS, though he certainly pledged allegiance.

      • bpollen June 12th, 2016 at 19:26

I can easily see it being a giant middle finger to the Islamophobia running rampant throughout Republican-leaning America, from Billy Joe Inbred all the way to the very pinnacle of “conservative” leaders. Plus it adds a higher purpose to a horrible act of violence. “I did it for my religion, not because I’m a homophobe!”

        • Gina Bousquet June 12th, 2016 at 19:44

And he did it because he was a homophobe, true.

          • mea_mark June 12th, 2016 at 19:49

Or he was in the closet and his culture and his family wouldn’t let him come out, so tremendous resentment built up. Just thinking … who really knows what his issues were. Help though with issues might have prevented this.

            • Gina Bousquet June 12th, 2016 at 19:57

That’s right, though not everyone who has issues accepts professional help…

              • mea_mark June 12th, 2016 at 21:47

It should at least be available though without public stigmation.

          • bpollen June 12th, 2016 at 21:40

Oh, yeah. Whether he WAS into ISIS or not, whether he was self-motivated or actually directed, homophobia was the underlying cause. Saying “Gawd Hates F*gs” in English or Arabic is just an excuse.

          • The Original Just Me June 13th, 2016 at 14:42

No, he was just an Idiot through and through. Homophobe was only part of his personality.

      • The Original Just Me June 13th, 2016 at 14:41

ISIS did kind of Semi jump in and claim some kind of credit but avoided saying they had direct contact with him.

        • Gina Bousquet June 13th, 2016 at 16:49

ISIS jumps in and takes credit for every Muslim lone wolf barbaric action worldwide, it’s part of their policy, as it is to encourage Nationals to act in their countries even without links to them. :(

    • mea_mark June 12th, 2016 at 19:45

I am guessing it was a conflict in his head about who he is, culture, who he should be and how to do deal with those conflicting issues. Confusion, misunderstanding, fear and societal pressures, without any real way to cope with the issues in his head, probably caused him to snap. We really need free access to mental health professionals for everyone. A single payer healthcare system may have helped prevent this, I believe.

I just received a facebook post advising me that Trump is right and we need to stop letting these people into the country. *sigh*

    • bpollen June 12th, 2016 at 19:22

Yeah, people who are born here should never be allowed into our country!

      • mea_mark June 12th, 2016 at 19:37

Maybe we shouldn’t allow anyone to be born here again, you know, they might turn out to be scary. We can’t have scary people being born here now can we?

        • bpollen June 12th, 2016 at 19:40

Outlaw gestation! We’ll show China! A Zero-Child Policy!

    • robert June 12th, 2016 at 20:27

it’s OK to buy a AR-15 after the FBI checks you out a few times in florida

      • William June 12th, 2016 at 23:35

Actually there was legislation that would have prevented known radical crazies and those on the no fly list from getting their hands on that gun. It was defeated by an NRA funded legislature.

        http://bipartisanreport.com/2016/06/12/fail-bill-rejected-by-the-gop-6-months-ago-would-have-stopped-florida-shooter-from-gun-purchase/

        • robert June 13th, 2016 at 03:59

In all reality This entire Orlando mess by definition is on the NRA from what your link says.

        • Ron Theison June 13th, 2016 at 10:00

Being on the no-fly list means nothing as many innocent people have been put on it. You don’t take away someone’s constitutional rights without due process because they have been put on some silly list. What other rights would you support being treated in such a manner?

          • William June 13th, 2016 at 10:55

I’m pretty sure the right to live trumps your stupid ammosexual rant. You right wing idiots crack me up. You present to the world a clown who wants to actually ban people from immigrating based upon a religion, but scream foul when a bill aims to ban mental misfits and people with documented terrorist tendencies from getting a gun. It’s no wonder a lunatic who sh*t himself to avoid military service is your most revered NRA board member. But I digress. We both know the reason the bill was defeated, don’t we? http://www.nracongress.com/all-nra-recipients.html

    • StoneyCurtisll June 12th, 2016 at 20:29

      That is sad…..

  3. crc3 June 13th, 2016 at 09:32

NOTHING is going to change folks. The NRA is the master of gun laws and owns our legislature. Our voices are muted.

More terror will come and it will continue to get worse and worse. Eventually whole cities may be destroyed with thousands perhaps millions dead. How you say? Take your pick: Chemical…biological..and nuclear weapons that’s how. Think it won’t happen? Think again. The clock is ticking and we can’t stop it. I just hope I’m off this rock before it does happen…

    • Ron Theison June 13th, 2016 at 09:58

What in heavens name did the NRA have to do with this massacre? This was an attack by an Islamic radical, carrying out the death sentence on gay people at the behest of the Koran. One hundred and thirty people were killed in Paris not too long ago with weapons that were not legally available anywhere in that country. The NRA is standing up for the right of all citizens, including gay people, to own firearms so they can protect themselves.

      • crc3 June 13th, 2016 at 11:07

You are as stupid as Donald Trump (who you will probably vote for in November). You are as classic example of all that is WRONG with this country but the NRA loves your type of naive stupidity because it feeds their agenda…

      • Bunya June 13th, 2016 at 14:12

You have a point. The NRA is standing up for the right if all citizens to own firearms, but not necessarily for self protection.
It’s more like; “if your money is the right color, we’ll sell you a killing device.”
It’s simple, really. If you have the money, they have the gun – and they don’t discriminate against psychotics.

      • The Original Just Me June 13th, 2016 at 14:37

The NRA is Dramatically behind owning Assault Weapons as well as guns.

    • The Original Just Me June 13th, 2016 at 14:34

      Same Correction; Republican Controlled Legislature,

  4. The Original Just Me June 13th, 2016 at 14:33

All Guns, Bibles, and Korans, should be required to have a ” YUGE ” Label saying; : Do not mix this with other products that are required to have this label ! “
