NY atty gen: Trump U ‘straight up fraud’

Eric Schneiderman called Trump University exactly what it is.

“It’s like selling people something you say is a Mercedes and it turns out to be a Volkswagen,” Schneiderman said. “And even if some people say, ‘Well actually, I kind of like the Volkswagen,’ it’s still fraud because it’s not a Mercedes. This was not a university.”

Schneiderman then went into detail about how Trump blatantly lied about Trump University in marketing videos aimed at prospective students.

“Trump’s role was really a the pitchman,” he said. “And we’ve got his videotapes, and we’ve got his sworn testimony which undercuts every statement in the videotapes. He said, ‘My hand-picked experts will teach you my personal secrets.’ He and the president of the university have already testified under oath he never met the instructors, they weren’t hand-picked. They weren’t experts — some of them came out of fast food and retail. And he had nothing to do with the supposed secrets that were taught because he had nothing to do with the curriculum.”

So why isn’t Schneiderman filing charges?
It’s pretty slimy business for an attorney general to try a case in the press, rather than the courtroom, even if it is Trump.
The headline may as well have been:

New York Attorney General Won’t Prosecute Blatant Fraud

    I liked this part:
“He and the president of the university have already testified under oath he never met the instructors, they weren’t hand-picked. They weren’t experts — some of them came out of fast food and retail.”

So does that mean people paid $20,000, or whatever it was, to be taught to take the fries out when the beeper goes off?

In 2013 the NY A.G. filed suit against TrumpU: Schneiderman, a Democrat, told ABC News today. “We sued him long before anyone thought he might run for president. This is not a political case. It’s just a straight-up fraud case.”

The New York state case against Trump University, brought in 2013, is proceeding at the same time as a federal lawsuit unfolds in California, both with essentially the same set of allegations: that the real estate seminars marketed by the famous mogul cheated the people who paid thousands of dollars to attend. As became clear today, the cases are unfolding in a highly unusual climate for a civil cases.-2 days ago via ABC http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/ny-attorney-general-back-off-trump-fraud-case/story?id=39515501

        Thanks MastermindObewon.
You’re ahead of me on this one.
        But good golly, a lawsuit?
How about charging him with a crime, sending in a SWAT team that enjoys using lots and lots of tear gas into Trump Tower, slapping the cuffs on him, and frog-marching him out the front door, feet dragging limply across the fine Cararra marble floor because Trump decided to “resist arrest” and had to be subdued with a wood shampoo……
