Oklahoma legislature criminalizes abortion

Posted by | May 19, 2016 13:58 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

Governor Mary Fallin hasn’t announced if she’ll sign it, but if she does the state should be prepared to spend lots of taxpayer dollars defending itself.

According to the language of the bill, anyone who is found to have performed an abortion — except in instances to save the life of the mother — will be found guilty of a felony and can receive up to three years in prison…

The governor has not decided whether she will sign the bill, according to her spokesperson Michael McNutt.

Once Fallin has the bill she has five business days to decide if she will approve the legislation. If she doesn’t sign or veto the bill, it automatically becomes law, according to McNutt.

If this works next week they’ll bring back slavery, abolish liquor, and take the vote away from women

  2. CHOCOL8MILK May 19th, 2016 at 14:27

    Stupidity.

Takes two to tango for this “crime”, Oklahoma. If you’re going to jail the abortionist, then you must jail the woman also. Come on, Oklahoma, show some b*lls and propose that women who receive abortions get three years too. Double for any woman related to a state legislator. Let’s see how popular your proposal is then.

ps…wish Louisiana had enough money to fight stupid laws that the legislature passes…oh wait, we pass stupid laws ALL the time. that’s part of the reason we never have any money.

Also, why aren’t the guys who “do the deed without wrapping it” not held accountable?

      • Comicus May 19th, 2016 at 21:37

Then those guys have a vested legal interest in the decision. Do you really want that?

        • CHOCOL8MILK May 20th, 2016 at 00:55

Certainly, it takes two to tango as nola indicated. Most likely those guys would probably be for abortion.

Not if they go to prison for murder.

for what murder? abortion isn’t murder.

Did you read any of the comments to which I responded? Did you even read the article?

yep and yep. and yep, it’s not murder will never be and i haven’t heard one solitary person, suggest that the man should be responsible. mind you it’s men coming up with these stupid measures. furthermore, NO ONE SHOULD BE CHARGED with anything considering it’s NO BODY’S FUCKING BUSINESS. women are and have always been a target. when a teen gets pregnant, she is the one that is noticed by all, by virtue of a simple fact. and she is the one that has to take all the stupid and ignorant hateful rhetoric. if she’s pregnant, EVERYONE knows. there’s no indication what-so-ever that a guy is about to become a father.

        • whatthe46 May 20th, 2016 at 01:05

the vast majority of the time, it’s a decision among the both. there are 100’s of 1000’s of reasons why a woman would want or feel the need for an abortion. that makes it her decision. women have decided to carry a child to term of rape, only for some stupid ass judge to find in favor of the rapist to have visitation with that child.

          • Comicus May 20th, 2016 at 20:29

The vast majority? What source for this?
No court will allow a person to be made an involuntary accomplice to a crime. If the father was to be also charged with murder for the abortion, it would be in his best interest to prevent the abortion, regardless of his intentions toward the child.

i don’t know why you’re all up in arms over something that will never happen. no one will be charged with murder. people just need to get over trying to dictate someone else’s life. it’s in everyones best interest if the RWNJ and phony ass christians mind their own damn business.

Why I’m up in arma? I responded to another’s CHOCOL8MILK’s comment and you came after me. If you can’t follow the conversation, stay the **** out of it.

    • Bunya May 20th, 2016 at 14:05

Why stop there? Oklahoma should arrest those women who’ve had miscarriages, too. After all, we should be able to determine if it was spontaneous or did she do something to cause a miscarriage? I can think of no better way to spend taxpayer money than to pay the government to follow pregnant women around.

    Law suit in; 1, 2, 3,…

  5. Snick1946 May 19th, 2016 at 15:49

There ought to be a law requiring state legislators to personally pay all the litigation costs incurred by states defending clearly unconstitutional laws. The only reason they keep doing this is so they can go home to their districts, stand up in church and holler how they stood up for Jeeesus.
