First penis transplant in U.S.

The man’s penis had to be removed because of cancer. The transplant took place at Mass General.

Thomas Manning, 64, a bank courier from Halifax, Mass., underwent the 15-hour transplant operation on May 8 and 9. The organ came from a deceased donor.

“I want to go back to being who I was,” Mr. Manning said on Friday in an interview in his hospital room. Sitting up in a chair, happy to be out of bed for the first time since the operation, he said he felt well and had experienced hardly any pain.

“We’re cautiously optimistic,” said Dr. Curtis L. Cetrulo, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a leader of the surgical team. “It’s uncharted waters for us.”

The surgery is experimental, part of a research program with the ultimate goal of helping combat veterans with severe pelvic injuries, as well as cancer patients and accident victims.

            No no…clips are cool and all…but …maybe…just for the sake of those here who are on android devices, or 9 year old laptops…maybe limit it to less than 20 per thread?
            You have GREAT taste in music…nothing to complain about there.
            But the download times for all those clips!!
            (As to the hosting, I cannot say…Alan may have zettabytes of unused space…not my bailiwick)
            Anyways, this is just me…I’m really only gonna get involved if you start calling names or posting pictures of vulvas or penises (peni? penii?)

            And you don’t seem to be that crude.
            ALSO: the open thread is USUALLY replaced after a week or so…don’t know why it’s been around as long as it has…

              I didn’t know about the Android thing. I didn’t think anything was downloaded at all untill “clicked” on. And yes, whichever mod it was told me about the rotation of the open thread. I could just as easily have listened to the tunes myself, but like to share. I wouldn’t mind seeing a dedicateed daily/nightly music thread here, but that’s not my call.

              I CAN be crude, but prefer not to be, particularly when it’s beyond the bounds (TOS). I think you have a good site here and would like to see it grow.

                I’d be all for a music thread…who knows? Maybe in the future?
                And “crude” is almost always beaten by “intelligent”…you don’t want to know how many times I’ve been tempted to forego a measured response and replace it with instructions as to how a troll should write their opinions on a piece of paper, fold it until it was all sharp corners, and shov…never mind.
                You’ll probably do well here.
