I hear people talk about Nugent, assume he is a republican NRA supporter. And he seems to have some mental health issues and like he needs treatment for that. But who is he and why does anybody care what he says? He seems so out of control that I can’t take what he says seriously. Maybe if he had proper medication for his problems, he could make more sense. I am not sure he is responsible for what he is saying.

Well, it is true that they aren’t really held accountable. Part of that is the media playing Both-Sides-Do-It. And the focus on ratings over facts. Part of it is the conservatives’ intended audience – facts that contradict what you believe are simply discarded. Or some nebulous conspiracy is just trying to suppress the truth in order to take away their Gawd-Given Rights – like that vast conspiracy of climate change scientists selling climate change in order to… well, nobody knows why, but it’s obviously some liberal leftist atheist evil plan.
