Select Benghazi Committee turns 2

Trey Gowdy should be very proud he’s been able to drag this out for so long.

After two years and $6.7 million dollars spent by the committee, along with more than $20 million spent by other federal agencies, all Gowdy has to show for his work is a string of embarrassing flubs. Even Donald Trump has referred to the South Carolina Republican as “Benghazi loser Gowdy.”

Yet the very premises behind Trump’s presidential candidacy and the Benghazi Select Committee are the same — tossing red meat to an angry conservative base inflamed by partisan media. In the case of the Benghazi Select Committee, conservatives believed that although there was no evidence to support their claims they would finally find the silver bullet to take down the Obama administration and, more importantly, Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

The politicization of the attack in Benghazi began while the terrible events of that 2012 evening were still ongoing. Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign issued a statement claiming that President Obama “sympathize[d] with those who waged the attacks.” From that moment forward, the conservative media believed the attack on our diplomatic facility and CIA annex was evidence of all the evils of which they had previously accused the president.

    Select Benghazi Committee turns 2….
Like 2 Corinthians walk into a bar?

    • granpa.usthai May 9th, 2016 at 15:00

      ok, I’ll go with it

2 Corinthians walk into a bar
1st Corinthian says what are we doing here?
2nd Corinthian says having a little wine for our stomach’s sake.
1st Corinthian says, OK, but what about the other organs?
2nd Corinthian says, hey – bartender – how’s about a bottle of bourbon, a bottle of scotch and a case of beer…

      goes with their upbringing.

LAZY good for nothing do nothing LYING spoiled privileged class brats. Better to put on a play show instead of really doing anything CONSTRUCTIVE (like REAL WORK) for our nation or the people of The United States of America.

you can use Donald John Trump as a prime example if you want.

        yepper.
when i was working as a construction grunt in my 20’s i had a foreman who would always use ” yepper” as an affirmative . the other thing he would say when the discussion turned to low class celebrities or rich brats was

“that’s what to much money does to people “

        • burqa May 9th, 2016 at 22:15

Around here they use the plural – “yeppers.”

The night of the attacks used by the GOP to attack our sitting Commander in Chief were a shining moment for derelict Sara. It was when she had a thousand points of flashing lights vision with a declaration of WAR on Australia and Miami for allowing Muslims to peacefully protest in public. It were also when I polished off six cans of Foster’s lest I were caught with war contraband instead of one each evening for the week – and of course, my fears that the little green GEICO feller would be hunted down, drug through a Kangaroo Court and wind up on a BBQ grill in Sara’s backyard. Yep, that were some night to remember. Been thinking about having a weekly remembrance ceremony sponsored in part by Foster’s Beer.

I miss the Ramones. Some of my best concert memories of the 80s.

    • burqa May 9th, 2016 at 22:05

      Good pull.
I got to see the Ramones on their first tour.
It was a 3-act bill at the Baltimore Civic Center.
The first act was a local rock band called Facedancer.
Then the Ramones came out and put on a great performance.
Then came the headliner – – – Iggy Pop.

I think the ticket cost $13.50…………..

Trey should say he’s got nothing until all his property is paid off and plenty of cash in the bank

Just another expensive republican witch hunt.

One can only assume that Gowdy is laying the ground work to become a security analyst for the Fox “news” network.

    • StoneyCurtisll May 9th, 2016 at 20:04

      Pin head Gowdy..

    • burqa May 9th, 2016 at 22:51

      Kurt Gowdy – good guy.
      Trey Gowdy – bad guy.

Now 3 of the Republican member now know Benghazi is in Libya, now if they could just figure out where the hell Libya is.

    • Mensa Member May 9th, 2016 at 20:43

And what is a consulate, exactly? More millions need to be spent.

      • burqa May 9th, 2016 at 22:01

        A consulate provides consular services.

For example, a business in San Francisco that wants to do business in Russia will not go all the way to Washington, D.C. to get import or export licenses or other information. The business would go to the Russian consulate in San Francisco.

      • Red Mann May 9th, 2016 at 22:21

If I recall correctly, it wasn’t even a consulate. It was described as a compound.

Rather than yet another Benghazi investigation, can we have at least one investigation into who is giving millions in “dark money” to the GOP?

  10. Tim Coolio May 10th, 2016 at 17:07

The culprits who hold all the blame for what happened
at Benghazi are your beloved republicans who denied
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s urgent request for
boosting funding for embassy security which ended up
resulting in that entire dilemma to occur, and republican
Jason Chaffetz is on tape saying he “absolutely” voted
with the GOP to cut $300 million for embassy security!
