U.S. military admits we have troops in Yemen

For the first time, the military admits we have troops in Yemen to combat al Qaeda.

Defense department spokesman Navy captain Jeff Davis said on Friday that a “very small number” of military personnel has in recent weeks been working with Yemeni and Arab Coalition forces to push al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) fighters from the port city of Mukalla.

The Pentagon has stepped up air strikes against the jihadists in the war-torn country, Davis said.

“This is of great interest to us. It does not serve our interests to have a terrorist organization in charge of a port city, and so we are assisting in that,” the spokesman added.

He said the troops were helping Emirati forces with “intelligence support”, but declined to say if they are special operations forces.

    I would imagine that we have some assets in and around where we are ahhh, ummm, trying to avoid more civilian casualties…while continuing to degrade our enemies…I am torn apart by all of this…as well…

      I agree, it is hard to support more war however if ISIS keeps spreading we have to follow to beat them.

        Why do WE have to beat them? ISIS spread because WE had to beat Saddam, Qaddafi and Assad. WE created the power vacuum they filled.

    It’s probably easier to list the countries the US military doesn’t have a presence…
    Right now we have 800 bases in 70 countries and “consultants” in 60 more… if we include Special Ops like this, add 15 more.

      I think it is more like 150 countries. Either way it is the very definition of ‘imperialism’.

      Can you even name 70 much less 150 countries? I can’t.

      maybe the usa could buy lots of fishing rods from china instead of sharpening its claws on all the little countries. Fishing is fun especially if you don’t catch anything – betterntv.
