Prince had financial woes

He wasn’t monetizing as he could have.

The pop superstar had serious money woes in the years leading up to his death, according to TMZ.

His Royal Badness regularly turned down licensing opportunities from movies and TV shows — a main stream of revenue for recording artists — that wanted to use songs from his huge catalog of music.

And while he regularly took the stage at sold-out performances, many of them were impromptu events that didn’t bring in the big bucks due to a lack of promotions associated with the gigs, the gossip site reported.

ummm….sometimes genius comes with a price…Prince may have thought the price was too much to pay for “monetizing” his genius….and he wasn’t a good money manager…ya know, Einstein had his weakness too…like he wasn’t the best dressed at dinner…usually…

He was sick of being “owned” by the companies (Warner Bros, etc), that’s why he changed his name to that symbol, it was an act of protest…and to dictate himself what he can do. He was very selective about where his music and who would play it. But yea one would think that financial woes might have changed his outlook on mass advertising and commercializing to make the “big bucks”.

Unless he didn’t have the money to get safe tires on his car, I doubt it is what you or I would call a problem.

A quick Google search shows Prince had an estimated worth of 150-300 Million dollars…
    Hard times?
    Down on his luck?
    Strapped for cash?
