Oklahoma bill revokes licenses of abortion doctors

Posted by | April 23, 2016 12:53 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

Try all they want, they can’t take away what has been constitutionally guaranteed as a woman’s right to choose.

An Oklahoma bill that revokes the medical license of any doctor who performs an abortion has passed the state’s Republican-dominated legislature and is headed to the governor. Opponents say the measure in unconstitutional and promise a legal battle against the cash-strapped state if it is approved. Governor Mary Fallin, a Republican, has not yet indicated whether she will sign it.

My local PP was holding a counter protest this morning – it’s a “National Day of Action” for the forced birthers. I have been to 5 protests at this location and this one was out of control. There wasn’t an violence but they were all religious extremists.

One dude stood in front of me telling me how I was going to be judged and burn in hell (where a minute seems like a day…like I’d never heard this rhetoric) he kept stepping closer and closer – I didn’t engage or say anything to him until he got so close that his sign brushed up against my breasts (front) I asked him to step back and then it just got worse. It ended without incident but it was the first time things had gotten so crazy.

These folks also thought that since PP had no mammogram machines in their building, that there was no health care offered – since birth control, STD testing, even PAP smears were all products of sin.

So Oklahoma doesn’t surprise me at all.

    Crazy Christian/Sharia law dude.

Because they are so damn crazy, their voices are louder.

They also do men’s health screenings, something these people never mention. There’s a lot more to PP than abortions. (I know you know that already)

Thank you Larry, I had forgotten about that. It may have been the blinding rage I was suppressing.

          Completely understandable.

      You’re very courageous

Ah, thank you – but not really. I have a good friend, an old hippie that has never lost her drive to speak out. I’ll never be able to equal her effort in so many, many human right fights, but I would like to make her proud. I always wanted to make a difference but was too scared before I met her.

You sell yourself short. In this day and age the Crazy Christian/Sharia law dudes are more than likely to note your license plate, follow you home, harass and stalk, and much worse.

And what they do with them.

Why would any doctor who is considering a location for their new practice risk getting caught in the IT’s neo-puritanical bullshit? I suspect the children of the citizens of that state are going to have a long way to go to find their next doctor.

    • Mensa Member April 23rd, 2016 at 13:55

      “IT”?

    • whatthe46 April 23rd, 2016 at 15:28

i hope this doesn’t cut the mustard because the women of that state needs these doctors and i hope that the doctors stay to fight for them.

The only exception in this absurd bill is to save the life of the woman. – Yet the GOP religious extremists conveniently ignore the lives of women who would still seek an abortion. A law to revoke medical licenses will NOT stop abortions.

These GOP scumbags do not care that women would have to risk permanent injury and death from backstreet abortions and other alternative measures. This deliberate abuse of state legislative powers is beyond despicable. – It is utterly disgusting that the unqualified GOP ding/bats who do not even have a license to practice medicine are trying to dictate woman’s reproductive healthcare.

Abortion is a legal and private medical decision that is only between a woman and her physician – and NO ONE else.

Well, they certainly are great at wasting their taxpayers money I must say, this will never happen even in their state.

Oklahoma is setting the bar at a level so low it could trip an ant

  7. Lyndia April 23rd, 2016 at 23:35

I am not trying to say anything, but I have noticed that all of you people use the term woman. Have you ever taken into consideration, that children and in some cases, babies, need an abortion, too? Some babies and children, are molested, which results in a pregnancy. Babies: 9-12, children, 13-18.

Threatening the livelihood of somebody providing a service that the Supremes is constitutionally protected won’t survive any lawsuit. And I hope they get a gigaton of them should it pass.
