Trump clueless about what happened to charity money from his veterans rally

Lots of money was collected but Trump doesn’t know where it is or how it is to be distributed.

Trump claimed after the rally that his website drew in a total of $6 million for wounded warriors, but The Daily Beast caught up with his veteran’s issues chairman and asked about why charities haven’t exactly lined up to publicly acknowledge that they received any of it.

“I could ask, but it’s not high on my priority list,” said New Hampshire state representative Al Baldasaro. Baldasaro also serves as Trump’s point person for veteran’s affairs.  “I don’t track that. I’m not concerned about it, because I know [Trump is] an honorable, honest guy… you guys just want to say, ‘gotcha.’”

While Baldasaro has given checks to at least two local veterans across his state, variousmedia outlets have attempted to track others down with limited success. CNN reported in March that Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicksgave a statement saying that half of the money went to 27 veterans groups, but she did not provide specifics beyond promising that more donations would follow.

The Trump campaign has declined to comment on the matter multiple times after Hicks’ statement. In fact,  reports have emerged since then that question Trump’s charitable actions in the past. Baldasaro said his veterans advocacy kept him too busy to inquire about the money, but that he may ask about it in the near future.

If they’re not willing to give details, you have to assume there are no details, and the money did not go to the veterans’ groups. A truly “honorable, honest guy” would have his staff provide the information immediately. The fact that no information is forthcoming leads us to believe otherwise.

And we’re supposed to trust this guy with our economy?

    • Larry Schmitt April 22nd, 2016 at 18:36

He can’t manage his own economy. Four bankruptcies, remember? He walks away with the elevator, his investors get the shaft.

good point, he can’t keep track of 6 million and he wants us to believe he can juggle trillions?

yes, I assumed that was a given, but you are correct to point that out to a conservative, not that they care….look at how the 1st responders have had to die begging for the help bush promised.

bush left office after making sure we upped our payments to Israeli…….but didn’t do that for the brave men and women who showed up and did the hard work……as he promised them on 9/11

he doesn’t care??????????????????????????????????????????????? My grandson was shot and wounded in Iraq. Lucky for our family he survived and is only left with scars all over his body and whatever changes were made to his personality from the multiple years he has served. Thousands weren’t as lucky as my grandson.

Right now congress is in the process of taking away military health benefits…..EARNED benefits. While 6 million is a drop in a bucket for the service members who need and deserve help, it is 6 million that fellow citizens wanted to go to the troops…..not somewhere hidden away from view. If Trump was a good leader he would have followed through and made sure the money got to where it could be best used. IF Trump cared about the military, he would have done that.

Politicians wave the flag, give rah-rah speeches, and talk about devotion to the nation, use words like unsung heroes, best and brightest, and a bunch of other things that sound good on sound bites. Then when the troops need help……I get, “well, we have a 100% volunteer military, they knew what they were getting” from conservatives….and apathy from liberals.

In this nation we don’t care about our children and we don’t care about our troops, that is based on having over 9 million school-aged children who are homeless and 15 million more living with food insecurity……and thousands of troops who go without the care they need after serving what they were told was this nation. Shame on all of us who let this happen.

I tried everything I could, including researching how to break my grandson’s leg to keep him from enlisting. My family has been fighting and killing in every war or skirmish we had had since the early 1600’s. It is well past time my family found a genuine way of serving the nation. I am proud they were willing to protect and defend the nation IF it was ever in danger, but I am fed up with them being sent off to war so that defense contractors can drain taxpayer coffers for their own wealth. My family is worth more than serving corporate interests. They deserve better than being abandoned after they serve and forgotten when the flags get put down. And every serviceman or women is just as deserving as my family.

Time for someone to file a complaint with the USAG’s office and have them investigate. If not distributed it’s plain fraud. A criminal act.
