Kasich: I wouldn’t have signed North Carolina anti-LGBT bill

Posted by | April 10, 2016 10:29 | Filed under: Politics

This is what you’d hope even a Republican governor would do.

Kasich said that issues become more “polarized” when they become into law during an interview for CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

“We are not having this issue in our state about this whole religious liberty,” Kasich said. “I believe that religious institutions ought to be protected and be able to be in a position of where they can, you know, live out their deeply-held religious purposes. But when you get beyond that, it begins to be a tricky issue. Tricky’s not the right word. But it can become a contentious issue.”

I like you very little bit, Kasich, but you are a Republican.
You belong to a rotten, evil party.

He does seem to be a normal person, he seems more like a right leaning independent!

      • clemans April 15th, 2016 at 01:38

he supports school vouchers so minority kids or kids with special needs can be discriminated against and shut out of educational opportunities.

He is a wolf in sheep’s skin.

I would never vote for him but he sounds more human than Trump or Cruz!

looks can be deceiving…..look up his record with Planned Parenthood and some of the things he supports. He just isn’t as open about being batshit crazy.

We spend too much time on who the people are, what package they come in, look to the GOP platform. Anybody who is selected to support that, is just a different way of marketing bad policies. Just a alternative packaging……you know a rose by another name

              Can’t argue with that!

No, Kashch is just an old-fashioned Republican…using dog whistles and code words. Since people love how Trump and Cruz don’t, he has been marginalized.

    • clemans April 15th, 2016 at 01:36

I dislike his willingness to lie, cheat, and deceive people with less intelligence or awareness. Having ethics means causing no pain or as little pain as one can. It means NEVER taking advantage of people who lack critical thinking skills.

He shouldn’t think of the Anti_LGBT as just an ordinance to “protect religious liberty”.

    It has a richer significance.

Think of it as a reminder that certain people should “Know their Place”.

Just like all the other Jim Crow laws.

It’s only contentious because some “Christians” think their religious liberties include the right to discriminate against others. What would the uproar be like if Hamtramck, MI, a majority Muslim city, passed an ordinance allowing businesses to refuse service to Christians.

Funny they don’t realize the hatred always will come back around. There will be a day they will be the minority and regret these actions….maybe.

Twain said something about how the radical invents new ideas and when he has worn them out the conservative adopts them…..somewhere I have the exact quote…..but that is close.

        • Suzanne McFly April 15th, 2016 at 08:08

I never heard it but I looked it up….The radical of one century is the conservative of the next. The radical invents the views. When he has worn them out the conservative adopts them.

          – Notebook, 1898

Great quote, thanks for bringing it up.

So that is the way the wind is blowing now according to him? He still is against Planned Parenthood, I guess that wind just blew by and missed him.

    • Larry Schmitt April 10th, 2016 at 11:03

Being the least objectionable of a bad lot doesn’t make him an acceptable candidate for president, unless we’re willing to really lower the bar.

      • Suzanne McFly April 10th, 2016 at 11:06

I’m not lowering the bar, I am proud to have Bernie and Hillary representing my party.

        • Larry Schmitt April 10th, 2016 at 11:19

I was just pointing out that the best thing you can say about Kasich is pretty weak.

  5. StoneyCurtisll April 10th, 2016 at 11:07

    Kasich: I wouldn’t have signed North Carolina anti-LGBT bill…
    Of course he wouldn’t have..

He holds no political office in North Carolina.

    • Suzanne McFly April 10th, 2016 at 11:08

      Semantics lol.

    • Larry Schmitt April 10th, 2016 at 11:20

But I’m pretty sure if the Ohio legislature had passed the same bill, he would have signed it.

      • StoneyCurtisll April 10th, 2016 at 12:54

        Indeed he would…

    • bpollen April 10th, 2016 at 23:53

He also wouldn’t have an abortion. Wouldn’t have a career as a virtuoso pianist. Wouldn’t paint the Sistine Chapel. Wouldn’t pose nude for Playboy. Wouldn’t play on the front line of the Bengals. Lots of things he won’t do that he never was gonna get the chance to do anyway.

  6. Mike April 10th, 2016 at 11:34

Sorry, I’m calling bullsh!t on the entire article….

  7. Tommie April 10th, 2016 at 12:00

Even IF he was telling the truth, him saying that would have made him lose by more in his party!

    • clemans April 15th, 2016 at 01:31

he isn’t getting that many conservative votes, he is forced to try to gain support from independents…..well, he isn’t getting mine……

And I would tell him, it isn’t tricky, we have a separation of church and state. The churches can do what they want……as long as they stay out of politics or be taxed

  8. amersham46 April 10th, 2016 at 20:05

Would not sign it , seems he forgot to bring a crayon
